  • It'd be difficult to play ANY puzzle game if you're color blind, sadly, unless it's something with distinct shapes like Tetris or something.

  • IIs it possible to change the language like the GBA versions of Fever and Minna de Puyo Puyo?

  • @mslurr No you can not change the language. The good news is Puyo Nexus did some fan translations of Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary (DS), Puyo Puyo 7 (DS) and Puyo Puyo Sun (PC). They are working on Puyo Puyo!! 20th Anniversary (DS)

  • @superJuanL That's great! But the question is, is there any way to get those translation to work on a genuine DS, DSi or 3DS?

  • do english people kick your but?

  • MEAN BEAN MACHINE CLONE FTW!

  • @KOOLAIDMARIOGUY2295 MBM came after Puyo Puyo.

  • @mslurr o ok i got confused cause its on ds and yh i know its just a sequel/ remake

  • To the comment below me: cutesy art sells especially well in Japan.

I doubt our localization teams would want to hassle with changing most of the graphics.

    Actually, I like cutesy art!

  • Do you need one Game Card for each player in multiplayer mode?

  • omg, i hate that bomb mode D: I sometiems even die on easy level (normally, they're easy...)

  • sometimes i wish this game was in US for the DS

  • i think it is.

  • I agree, my mind isn't made for making chains either. The best i've ever done is a three chain, and i have to admit, your better at this game then me. So, i salute you.

  • i am a Chain Streamer myself josh

ive played Puyo puyo Ever since the 2nd came out (1995-1996) about you saying 10 years?

    it actually 15 years

and the people at PuyoNexus made a Translation rom of the game

  • If ya'll didnt know this game came out a long time ago not in this form but i the form of doctor robotnik's mean bean machine, and Kirbys Avalanche . For SNES and Genisis like in the early 90's love this game and remain undefeated .

  • it is puyopuyo, or puyo pop in english, not puyo puyo pop...

  • Yeah, it was kind of annoying hearing him say "Puyo Puyo Pop" over and over haha.

  • I got puyo pop fever for GCN, was fun, but it left a 4 player mode, now, in DS or Wii i can play 4 players, but i don't see the game in anywhere...

This game got new features, and give it a great replay value.

  • i want this game but i cant translate but lookin at this helps me alot thx dude ^^*thumb up*

  • That's EXACTLY like Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for Sega Genesis

  • Puyo is so addictive!

Probably me but my god is Puyo 15th Anvy. hard compared to others. Story mode's easy, Vs. CPU is crazy, esp. 4 or 8 player mode. Satan is like on crack x5. Puyo Pop Fever & Sun didn't feel as hard as this one does. OR possibly not playing Puyo for a year has made me crap...I'm thinking the latter. Used to be pro, now I'm crap lol. Could chain 13 at most without fever, now not even 6+ purposely =(

Tip: Not playing Puyo for a long time may make you bad at it.

  • this been around longer than GC, check out Dr.Mario on the NES, it basically the same thing but they are "virii" rather than puyos

  • oo, i remember one on the snes kirby style

  • Try even even older, MSX2 and Famicom Disk System.

  • I used to have a japanese Famicom import of Puyo-Puyo in about 1994

  • Heh, I am colorblind :P

  • Could you show tilt mode more? <3 =*o*= <3

  • Cool vid and very well done, thanks for posting.

P.S. You might want to mix up your commentary a bit more... You say "annoying", "crazy", "weird", and "annoyingly crazy/weird" a lot ;)

  • Sonic Team !Crap! So Robotnik'sMean Bean Machine makes an appearance!

  • just put all of the little thingys in a corner then u can get combos easy

  • That doesn't work for long.

  • I tried to buy this game in Japan when it first released

sadly, there was some bug issue to be worked out so they were all recalled...

my puyo pop fever is now on it's death bed, for saying stuff it really shouldn't (like there is a cheer for going into fever mode, and it does that when I am not in fever...)

By the way, I do like the fever mode, b/c it's another way to kill your opponents...

although I know good people who really don't need to use the fever mode to kill another person...

  • There is nothing, even remotly, classic about the horrible fever mode.

Fever was added in Puyo Puyo Fever (which is the FIFTH game, in the series), which was the first game made, after Sega bought Compile.

I must say, that I hate Fever. Mostly for its gameplay, but also because of how horribly ...everything, is drawn.

To see some proper Puyo Puyo, just search for Puyu Puyo 2 (preferably the SNES version), Puyo Puyo Sun or maybe even Puyo Puyo~n.

  • i looked on ebay it's called Puyopuyo 15th anniversary

  • Well, I suppose for a review, it's not too bad. Yes, it's just called Puyo Puyo, not Puyo Puyo Pop or indeed Puyo Pop because it is Japanese, if one must be picky. Wi-Fi is pretty abysmal IMO, mainly because of the frequent disconnectors that harm your score. Just know the big guns, exchange friend codes, and organise a match that way for the best fun.

  • Yay. And it is : " Puyo Puyo 15th " and not " Puyo Puyo Pop " grawr.... xD

  • He's right; it's either Puyo Puyo (if Japanese) or Puyo Pop (if English), not both at once :P

I do wonder if we ever will see a Puyo Pop 15th Anniversary (as in English), though. I have doubts, but I still wish for it anyway...

  • hes bad at combos lol

  • AHAHA UR COLOR BLIND

  • that's not really something to laugh at...wait til they finally get really pissed off and come to your house with a gun and kill you just cuz you laughed at a color blind person

  • o stfu....

  • Got it too. Josh is right, the wifi is brutal.

  • I'm glad I'm right about something these days.

  • This is the second one right? I have the original in english. Is this game cheap to import?

  • but even if you're color blind, you can still see some colors differently, right?

  • Some colors look the same to me. As in certain shades of certain colors look the same. Like a certain section between red and green all look the same to me. Other colors are fine. Its a common genetic problem, which is why traffic lights are standardized as to the order of the colored lights.

  • i thought like some colors like red would look like brown, and brown is brown to you like everyone else

  • A winner this video is.

  • for some reason i really want this game, i normally dont like games like this, but now that there are ppl to challenge over wifi, im so hyped. I CANNOT WAIT TIL IT COMES OUT IN U.S.

  • if your really color blind, i find it funny that you say it in that way, or if you were being sarcastic, it was really funny.

  • Sadly I really am color blind.

  • well it's good you don't take it in such a bad way

  • they had online play for puyo puyo fever on the pc version. YA NOOB!!

  • Shut the hell up. At least you can CARRY IT. YA NOOB!!

  • Combos are clearing puyos at once, chains are clearing them in steps (you keep calling chains "combos")

Either way, thanks for showing off all the modes and stuff... I already ordered this game, and now I'm even more excited for it to arrive :D

  • hey... what website did you say on there.... i didn't hear quite right

  • I'm getting the game in a week. You wanna play some when I get it, Josh?

  • A very good review, you have a good voice and explained well about the game in overall, just forgot explaining a little about the fever system for those who start in 15th and that characters are different, but these things are more optional.

  • u make games look so good that i would want any game u upload

  • Nice review, never played it before but I might just buy it.

  • Thanks Josh I never knew about this game but I am going to get it! ;)

  • I like how I've already been totally bashed on a Puyo Puyo Xanga blog. For shame world. I must end my life now.

  • what might help your color blindness is that some games have puyo in different shapes, due to the different color, that might help in case you dont have the options of changing puyo shaped

  • End your life? You can't be serious right?

There are other things besides puyo games that will make you enjoy life dude.

  • Hey that is my name for the game you were playing me so cool

  • Well, that was a very good review. Looks very interesting. It's always been on my "most wanted list" sice it's announcement.

  • Does it really not matter what character you select cause in puyo pop fever and some other versions of puyo pop; characters do have certain patterns to there drop. Also ow many total chacters in this one. Great Review man and thanks!

  • i think i mite stick to tetris this is your first revuie that i am not going to go out on git the game but it was a good one any way

  • I am color blind. Thus Puyo Puyo is impossible for me on harder modes. Those yellow and greens look exactly alike.

  • I would imagine that those voices would get annoying after a while. I'm not going to even get started on the subject of seizures. *_*

  • Thanks man, you always help me out on desicions for games..I'm just going to wait to see if it comes out here in the states. Thanks again!

  • Sweet review man. Any chance you could cover Star Fox DS alittle more? You didnt show many of thesingle player stages and I am still wondering if its worth picking up.

  • thanks josh gave me a good idea on the new one, i used to have the dreamcast 1. Might even pick it up. thanks again josh

  • Reminds me a lot of Tetris DS.

  • your reviews are always great.

  • are you really color blind????
