Dead-to-the-spirit deluded "God Delusion" author & blithering fool scientist goon Richard Dawkins another "leader" given to the profane masses is another useful idiot for Jesuit machinations-C.O.
Jesuitical: pertaining to the Jesuits or their principals; designing; cunning; deceitful; prevaricating
The Jesuit Order completely altered the education system to suit their Evo-Hoax agenda to discredit the Bible. They cant have a Satanic society of 'Do as Thou Wilt' if people still follow the Bible

We are a country that despises extremists , the BNP and Islamic fundamentalists to name but two examples. After listening to this rant I think Hawkins and his acolytes should be added to the list of "not wanted in our country, please go elsewhere".
A huge crowd to hear the great bigot ? Well, I guess if 5000 is huge it says a lot about his drawing power.

Shouldn't that be, "...turned up to voice their intolerant and bigoted views..."? Yeah. Yeah, I think it should. I'm an atheist, and that is NOT what people like Dawkins are. They're ANTI-theists. They have that right, and they have the right to voice their views, but they do it dishonestly when they claim to merely not believe in God or to believe in freedom of thought and of speech.
why cant people believe in god ? it seems like alot of people don't like christians, luckily us humans have the choice to believe and do whatever we want.shame people out there can't except this and worry about there own lifes.
didnt dawkins encourage his followers on his website to send offensive material to Catholic football chiefs in Scotland? did letterbombs get sent to manager of Scottish Catholic football club (Celtic) ? is that just a coicidence ? or is this a good level of intellectual debate or the rantings of a vicious bigot- for Dawkins' disciples there is empirical evidence of everything i say
Oh wow! A protest against the papacy in the land of freemasonry and lucefarinism..shocking! Funny and ironic that there are MORE roman catholics in Britain now than there are Anglicans! Put that in yer pipe and smoke it English-Bob!
Have you noticed that the Pope parades around in a bullet proof box and body guards. Nothing says faith in God than those things. If he has so much faith, then he should be prancing around with a bullseye on his chest.
- his ad hominem attacks are typiclal of someone like him-why did Hitler kill 3 million catholics- is that logical?- why does he not refer to the speech all the German bishops made- the ones that attacked the racist anti semiticism made in 1934/ 36/ 38 and 39 - why did he miss them out? he doesn't get the pope's comments as a relativist you cant criticise others morality etc - atheists must be relativist ( they cant be absolutists unless they are bonkers), hence the link to nazis
@philosophyteacher Hitler was Catholic himself u moron...He killed them because he had to,simply. Can u tell me why Hitler kill 6 million jews,3 million gypsies and at list 1 million gays?Because they were scum of this world like they're now.Very soon you all will get what actualy you deserve.God will punish u all for the things u did.
@kenjaj he wasn't a catholic- facism is incompaptible with catholicisim - the german bishops on 4 seperate occasions made this clear in sermons guided by the pope - his actions were not christian he did not hold those beliefs to be true- is that why you - call me a moron??? who gives you the right to judge me? Matthew 7:1-3- if you really are orthodox christian read it and weep !!
- admitlly you could argue that he only did that for propgander purposes.. However that just proves that relgion is an effective way to brainwash and control people ( as it always has been)
" his actions were not christian he did not hold those beliefs to be true-"
@badpanda84 of course Catholics are Christians so are baptists, anglicans etc - but this really comes down to semantics- what do you mean by catholic? somone who lives the life and follows the rules who someone who kills catholics by the thousands (which a true catholic would never do) the pope at the time made it clear that his political ideas were incompatible with Xtianity
@badpanda84 what?? do you know anything about the history of Christianity ? well until 16th century everybody in western europe was catholic but as it is a denomination also Christian- they are the same and historically the original christians so your first point is false. All protestants broke away from the catholic church.
so is your second point there is no historical evidence for that at all and many Jewish leaders (they would know the truth) attended his funeral as well as the documents
@tinnitischannel Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German, raised by a Catholic parents. Prior to World War II Hitler had promoted a "positive Christianity". At the Benedictine monastery school which Hitler attended for one school year as a child, Hitler became top of his class. He also sang in the choir at the monastery. Also as an adult he frequently spoke positively about the Christian German culture and his belief in an Aryan Christ. So my friend you investigate history b4 spouting...
Before his ascension to power, Hitler stated before a crowed in Munich:
"My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage"...
@tinnitischannel ...which tells us how Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the jewish poison.Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice".
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Homosexuals, queers, jews, junkies, pedophiles, incest motherfuckers,so many sick idiots all together on one place against morality,Holy Bible,Church, and against Jesus Christ...By the way I'm not Catholic actually I'm Orthodox Christians and also I've no sympathies towards Pope as well but at list I respect him,Christianity and every Church in the World. And yes I do belive in God and I do belive in right things especially in morality. You're just a bunch of unbelievers and sick bustards...
@kenjaj Its funny how the only religious person against this video is the one who is insulting and swearing and the people who are for this video aren't. I thought your God said to love people and treat them the way you would want to be treated.
@kenjaj every one has the right to believe in what they want.I am an atheist and i dont really care about what u believe in or how much u have sacrificed for your religion. so please stop spamming the place and let the jews and homosexual live their live.you have no right to interfere in what they do or want.and for those incest motherfucker who u speak about must be stopped and punished.
@kenjaj People like you make me glad im a athiest, i dont condemn gays, any race, any culture or people who follow religion. I am against religion as it is dangerous false and controlling, can take away great potential but i do not condemn people who follow religion. As it says in the bible (not word for word) Hate the sin, not the sinner. I dislike the religion but i do not hate the follower. Science and a universal philosphy of equality is the way forward for humanity. Not hate. Not religion.
@BigLeatherJacket how about animals? are they safe in the world of atheism and science ? or lower life forms to be tortured in the name of science and progress?? ha even at the great ex prof uni for posh kids there is experimentation in the name of science so they lie? do you support that too?John Paul 2 who said, ‘Scientists must abandon laboratories and factories of death.’ does the ex prof say that too? your name suggests your view anyway - so are humans more important for atheists? why?
@philosophyteacher "how about animals? are they safe in the world of atheism and science ?"
That is irrevlant -- chirstains dosent comment much of the welfare of animals -- partly because 2000 years ago it wasnt a issuse ( ie animals where going extinct as they are today) and besides there are plenty of stories of animal sacrfices.
However buddist and hindus respect animals alot more
@badpanda84 but the present pope , the one the atheist animal abusers hate so much even said Animals, too, are God's creatures . . . . Certainly, a sort of industrial use of creatures, so that geese are fed in such a way as to produce as large a liver as possible, or hens live so packed together that they become just caricatures of birds, this degrading of living creatures to a commodity seems to me in fact to contradict the relationship of mutuality that comes across in the Bible."
@badpanda84 Cardinal Ratzinger was echoing official church teachings as laid out in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which clearly states, "Animals are God's creatures. He surrounds them with his providential care. By their mere existence they bless him and give him glory. Thus men owe them kindness. We should recall the gentleness with which saints like St. Francis of Assisi or St. Philip Neri treated animals. . . . I
@badpanda84 Pope John Paul II reminded people that all living beings, including animals, came into being because of the "breath" of God. Animals possess the divine spark of life—the living quality that is the soul—and they are not inferior beings, as factory farmers, fur farmers, and others who exploit animals for profit would have us believe. After he became Pope John Paul II, His Holiness went to Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, and spoke of the saint's love for animals
@philosophyteacher OF course God condone animal scarfices -- didnt you read the bible-- in fact he demanded animal scarfices- in the old testment..
Isn't that the whole point of an animal scarifice --- people dont scarifice animals for no reason ( after all back then animals where valuable property
@badpanda84 what is the relevance of that comment? Christianity does not follow the old Jewish laws on animal sacrifice (based on the old temple which after its destruction is now irrelevant)- my point which is relevant is that Catholics should respect animals, not be cruel and the bible does say that they should b e treated with respect which modern farming methods don't support- i think maybe you need to study what Christians actually think about animals rather than your made up views
@philosophyteacher But it is the same God that condoned that right -- the God of the old testment is the same god of the new testement right??
That is my point -- at some point God must have condoned it . I guess that kind of proves there is no absoulte moriality.. if there was then it would mean thing like slavery and animal scarfice would still be right -- ( because after all God did condone them in the old testement and he is perfect)
@badpanda84 yes but did God write the bible? well no people did so it is down to their interpretation and nothing to do with God so absolute morality has nothing to do with this- something is not right or wrong because of the way people behaved then- that is a relativist view- a simple undertsanding of the New Testament will verify this-but at the time of animal sacrifices in bible in other countries human sacrifices took place such as england so that is important
@philosophyteacher Ok firstly are you claiming that the bible has nothing to do with God ? -- or are you staying only the bad bits ( like the book of leviticus) have nothing to do with God.
And secondly you admit that it was just written by a man -- if that is the case why do people take the bible seriously ( as if it's the word of God)
NO --but I wonder why that is the case -- dont you think that God in his infinate power could write a book - instead he leaves it up to fallible humans who he knows will probably misinterprate it..
@philosophyteacher "- something is not right or wrong because of the way people behaved then- that is a relativist view"
I know but the realtivst view is correct.. Morals do and have changed over time.. Something is not right or wrong just because God declare it to be that way..
Abosulte moraility is saying something is right or wrong just because it is and you can't argue with that.
@philosophyteacher " think maybe you need to study what Christians actually think about animals rather than your made up views"
That is the problem -- the bible dosent say one way or another -- therefore it would depend on which chirstain I asked.
But consider this -- many chirstains belive that human are supurior to animals ( ie we have a soul) where are atheist (correctly) claim we are animal-- and that we decended from monkeys
@badpanda84 so you are wrong yet again you atheists need evidence rather than made up fairy stories to suit your own agendas- you need money for your vivisection labs etc the pope attacks them and look what happens- i have provided evidence not from some catholic sycophant but PETA own website i think that counts as comment doesn't it? did atheists set up the RSPCA ?urr no Christians again.....
@philosophyteacher First of all PETA is a joke.. if it was up to them everyone would be vegetaian and they even complained when Obama swatted a fly on national television.
And secondly "so are humans more important for atheists"
You do realise that atheist ( and most scientist ) actually say humans are animals and we share a common anscestor with monkeys... Unlike christains who thing that animals are diffrence and dont have a soul
experimenting on animals if it was up to me would be a felony, and totally disbanded. I dont care if there was a experimental drug potentially capable curing cancer, if they had to test it on animals first i'd be against that. Picking on my name was a total cheap shot, if want a jacket thats happend to be made of leather, i'd buy it. Am i a vegatarian? nope i happen to like meat. "Bigleatherjacket" this is a inside joke with my RL m8's i dont have to explain myself
@kenjaj gay people and jews are on the same level as incestuous people/paedophiles? you and people like you around the world make me deeply sad to be of the same species. goes to show that religion acts on natural selection in a curious way; weeding out the dumb ones, but helping them thrive and spread instead of killing them off. what you stand for is profoundly saddening and disheartening and i hope you open your eyes to reality soon.
Dawkins quoting the Hitler speech, wherein Hitler espouses his own invented non-Christian doctrine, exposes Dawkins' poor understanding of orthodox Christianity. Doesn't do much for his argument.
Hitler wasn't a Catholic. The illusion may have been given that he was but after reading his book the only conclusion I can come to is that he Loved Jesus. He never claims any religion. Hitler was out to revenge Jesus's murder. Which would explain his hatred toward the Jew. The government is the ENEMY of the PEOPLE and most of you Love your Enemy to the point where you believe everything they feed you. If it is written in the History Books it must be true. Right? Gov't wouldn't lie to you.
In our evolution we probably need religion but that does not mean it's true. I get a great sense of wonder and perspective knowing that I'm made from stardust and that I'm essentially floating in space.
I watched a tv programme were they took a tribe from Africa and took them to London. the chief was taken to st Pauls cathedral and was dumbfounded by it's beauty and he could not comprehend how man could have built it. and he insisted it must been built by god. It's like thousands of years ago the sun going up was perceived to be god but now we know it's just the earth revolving around the sun. religion and god is just a defence mechanism for humans on so many different levels. at this stage in
All atheists are evil - many of them perverts and homosexuals. Have a look at the freaks on this march as a good example of the detritus within their ranks!!
I am far from being a Catholic or religious in any sense, but I can already spot the blaring hypocrisy in this protest: standing alongside Dawkins was Peter Thatchell, homosexual leftwing crusader who believes the age of consent should be lowered to 14.
So I suppose the modern left think it's ok to have sex with children so long as it's not a Catholic Priest who's doing it? This is nothing more than a lefty piece of street theatre at an old pillar of society and a feeble one at that.
@32UnitedIreland You're a fucking idiot! I normally don't speak that way, but I get so irritated when someone such as you opens their dumb fucking mouths! Hitler was not an atheist. Btw, atheism isn’t a religion! That's like saying "not playing football is a hobby".!
@32UnitedIreland In the interests of fair debate usually leave up all comments to show a balanced view. In your case I'm leaving it up to embarrass you.
Richard Dawkins- you are the new Hitler of this mad world! You are an icon for your numb listeners. nobody has to be christian or even a thiest to feel the hating feelings in your speechings and books. The soveit union was full of people like you, and we see the black history and the results of that. WE NEED PEACE IN THE WORLD AND NOT MAD ARROGANT PEOPLE LIKE YOU! peace
@m3ak2005 Did you not comprehend what Dawkins was saying? I don't think you did. So, please, please, refrain from address Mr. Dawkins in such an arrogant manner untill you fully understand his words.
@x2thay please point something not true in my words and i'm open minded to argue with you. in a matter of fact, your words do nothing put prooving that he is ''an icon for his numb listeners''.
@m3ak2005 New Hitler? Numb lstiners? Hate speech? Soviet Union full of people like Dawkins?
You now what? I'm not even going to dignify you with an answer, because I'd have to lower into your level. Which I won't do. Please don't reply this comment, schizo.
@x2thay Oh! so i finally got an ''argument'' from you: m3ak believs in something, so Dawkins is true. i'm afraid that really makes your ''schizo'' thing turn back to you. what about: ''You now what? I'm not even going to dignify you with an answer, because I'd have to lower into your level.'' ?? you have no points about what i've said and just calling people that you don't know ''schizo'' to give yourself some kind of meaning. i didn't discuss my God, i'm discussing DAWKINS.think again.
@m3a All, right. I'll address your original comment. I wasn't going to but, what the hell, right?
You, little buddy, compared Dawkins to Hitler. Reductio Ad Hitlerum (fallacy, google it). How did you figure that? Show me the reasoning. Then you said Dawkins has 'numb' listeners. Whatever did you mean by that? Then you went on to say that he has hate speech. Did you not hear what he said? The pope blamed atheism for the holocaust and Stalin. I'd say that he was quite reasonable in his remarks.
... this edition of dawkins´ speech is very interesting, but we are damned when we enter this world : C of E Article IX ¨Original sin ... is the fault and corruption of the nature of every man ... ¨ and Article XVII ¨ ... the godly consideration of Predestination, and our Election in Christ, is full of sweet, pleasant, and unspeakable comfort to godly persons [however] for curious and carnal persons, lacking the Spirit of Christ [excessive reflection of such] is a most dangerous downfall.
Essentially, every utterance ive ever seen made by this crew of atheists has a wide variety of simple responses and new research to counter it. The lot of it. They remind me of myself when i was still obsessed with rock stars and moving to brazil when i was twelve in the 70s
Half of the local TV channels in my country are religious ones and have had significant success after a US/West backed coup d'état. Perhaps if the structures of power using religion as a tool were countered and criticized making people aware of why religion can be bad(as being the instrument of hegemony), religion could be not used and therefore, have no effect on people.
Having said that, I would like to clear out I'm not Christian and Christianity was definitely born as an instrument for the Romans to conquer the world. Yet, it won't work to solely criticize the instrument to eliminate the disease, you have to go to the roots, because virtually anything, even science(or pseudoscience) can be used int he same way as religion.
@libertits science is the tool to recognize the truth and it is not like religion. It help us understand the truth by proving it.please think before you comment.
Why does Dawkins focus on the hammer (the hegemony instrument)rather than the mastermind using it for destructive things? I suspect Dawkins is only diverting people from the real roots of all the problems in the world and is a gendarme of the status quo and elites controlling society. It is only ridiculous to blame the hammer, which can be used for constructive things as well as destructive, it is the ones who misuse it, especially in the war mongering and looting Western World.
I just don't get the constant drum beat of hate against the Vicar of Christ. I mean there are other causes that demand our attention much more. If you folks want to change the world, why don't you protest the cruety of radical Muslims? I NEVER see a protest against the lunatics of Islam. Your indignation is really out of balance. That's a shame, because soon England will be controlled by Muslims and their extreme view of submissive females will hold sway. Good luck England.
The Hitler comparison is a bit unfair, he didnt like catholicism and to a certain extent persecuted them, he preferred protestantism and just manipulated religion politically to not alienate large numbers of german people whose support they needed.
It's sad to se Richard Dawkins getting involved in Religion. A great author on evolution but religion? It's just all a bit embarrassing. Am I catholic? Yes. Did I visit London to see Pope? No. Why? I don't get involved. I just don't understand Dawkins getting involved with all these unpleasantries. So Hitler was a devout Catholic? Or a a devout Atheist? Any way not sure I could read one of his books again.
@modomnoc1 Why not? Why should an Atheist not get involved. He has paid his taxes just like everybody else, he has a right to speak out against this, and the stupid amount of public money. The pope criticized secularism and atheism, do you therefore expect them to be silent? such a request is stupid and abhorrent. If the Pope does not like it, well then he can go back to his palace. Just because you don't get involved does not mean others cannot.
Christians try to rationalize the barbarity we find in the Bible by saying, oh, this was appropriate to the time, it was appropriate to the ancient world. No, it wasn’t. It was within the moral compass of human beings then to recognize that killing somebody for adultery was evil. The Buddha managed it, Mahavira, the Jain patriarch managed it, numerous Greek philosophers managed it.
So Jews and Christians are simply lying to themselves when they talk about the impediments to morality that prevailed in the 5th century BC. And theother thing to notice is that rationalizing the barbarism we find in the Old Testament merely renders it irrelevant, it doesn’t render these books morally wise. (Sam Harris)
@qaplatlhinganmaH If according to Dawkins it's wrong to only pick the positive stuff out of the Bible, wouldn't it be equally wrong to pick only the negative stuff? Why does your group create rules you don't follow yourselves?
People become theists because they're scared. Scared of life after death and being frowned upon by a higher being. There's nothing wrong with being scared, but the power of relgion is abused across the world. The idea of a union of peace is a good one... but forcing children to believe something they can't even understand is wrong on so many levels. Religion has created the problems it sought to destory.
@42LightYears I think that is a gross generalization. Some very learned scholars and intellectuals happen to believe in a higher force. Arnold Toynbee, the great British historian, did not compromise his work because of his personal beliefs. Nor did he ever present himself as scared. Now if you want to cherry pick and gather all the egregious things attached to religion, feel free, but don't pretend that is a balanced conclusion.
Many Chinese people offer incense and prayers to Mao Zedong. "Maoism" is also called neo-Confucianism, a religion that had/has ancestor and emporor worship.
Even today, many Chinese people regard Mao as a God-like figure, who led the ailing China onto the path of an independent and powerful nation, whose pictures can expel the evil spirit and bad luck.
The phrase Long Live Chairman Mao for ten thousand years was commonly heard during the era, which was traditionally a phrase reserved for the reigning Emperor.
@qaplatlhinganmaH Dictators often demand complete submission, and resistance is met with severe punishment. Nothing new here. Last I checked China was STILL a brutal tyranny, so what the Chinese IN CHINA openly say about Mao should be suspect to any intelligent observer.
We joyfully acknowledge that the National Socialist movement ...policy, for the Reich and the German nation.. For the future, the bishops confer their heartiest blessing on this activity, and they will instruct the faithful to this effect. ...it is for us a national duty, as Germans, to vote for the German Reich, and we also expect all believing Christians to demonstrate that they know what they owe to their nation.
@qaplatlhinganmaH If you are trying to convince us that humans are morally weak and self-serving, you have won your point. If you are trying to say that the religious are any more despicable than anyone else, then your task is much harder. Atheist Mao overran a vulnerable Buddhist nation (Tibet) that caused ill to no one. In no way would I conclude from that that atheism is evil, nor would I conclude that religion could not be used to rationalize evil acts.
[Austrian Catholics should greet Adolf Hitler and the Nazis by] praying to the Lord God in thanks for the bloodless course of this great political change and to ask for a happy future for Austria. Of course, all orders from the authorities will be happily and willingly obeyed.
- Cardinal Theodor Innitzer, Archbishop of Vienna
What the old parliament and parties did not accomplish in sixty years, your statesmanlike foresight has achieved in six months. For Germany's prestige in East and West and before the whole world this handshake with the Papacy, the greatest moral power in the history of the world, is a feat of immeasurable blessing. ...May God preserve the Reich Chancellor for our people.
[I wish to express my church's] sincere and joyous preparedness to cooperate as best they could with the government now ruling that had set itself that tasks of promoting the Christian education of the people, repelling ungodliness and immorality, developing readiness to make sacrifices for the common good and protecting the rights of the Church.
-Cardinal Adolf Bertram, Archbishop of Breslau, Concordat between Nazi Germany and the Vatican, July 22, 1933
On the Jews and Their Lies is a 65,000-word treatise written by German Reformation leader Martin Luther in 1543.In the treatise, Luther writes that the Jews are a "base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth." Luther wrote that they are "full of the devil's feces ... which they wallow in like swine," and the synagogue is an "incorrigible whore and an evil slut".
Martin Luther argues that their synagogues and schools be set on fire, their prayer books destroyed, rabbis forbidden to preach, homes razed, and property and money confiscated. They should be shown no mercy or kindness, afforded no legal protection, and these "poisonous envenomed worms" should be drafted into forced labor or expelled for all time. He also seems to advocate their murder, writing ..."we are at fault in not slaying them."
"In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might ... that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross."ADOLF HITLER
I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator.
@qaplatlhinganmaH Has it ever occurred to you that the opportunistic Mr. Hitler was perhaps using religion as a tool to bind Germans together against a trumped up enemy, specifically the Jews? Hitler was not enamored with anything other than power, and the Bismarckian concepts of RealPolitik were a key element in his actions. To blame religion for Hitler is as ludicrous as blaming atheism for Stalin or Mao.
Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith ...we need believing people.
- Adolf Hitler, April 26, 1933, speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordant
The most disappointing feature of The God Delusion is Dawkins's failure to engage religious thought in any serious way. This is, obviously, an odd thing to say about a book-length investigation into God. Having no patience with the faith of fundamentalists, he also tends to dismiss more sophisticated expressions of belief as sophistry (he cannot, for instance, tolerate the meticulous reasoning of theologians). -H Allen Orr
childish buffoon indoctus41 said 'My issue with Dawkins is that his views on religion are essentially unsupported opinion.'
You mean, like the Pope's views on secularism? You know, I never flag as spam comments I don't like. I believe in free speech. I know the Pope doesn't, and clearly his most devout sheep (ie. people like indoctus41) don't either.

Witness how often conservative Christians in America complain about religious and cultural pluralism. Jews are no longer blamed for this, at least not overtly and specifically, but there are plenty of scapegoats to be found. Humanists and gays are currently very popular targets for attack by those upset that their brand of Christianity no longer dominates public discourse and cultural norms (assuming that it ever really did, at least in the manner they assume).
Christianism is the Christian analogue to Islamism, a doctrine about using Islam as the basis for government. Also known as Christian Nationalism, it is a blend of extremist religion and even more extreme nationalism, going well beyond both. It has occurred in many nations: America through most of its history, the Confederate South, and Nazi Germany are prominent examples. It varies according to the nationalism of each nation, but it the nature of the Christianity is often consistent
That is not true at all about what Scott Atran says. He does have some areas of diagreement with many other scientists about a number of things, but that certain religious ideas are not part of the causes of violence is not true!! Read some of his writings.
I truly support and admire the British reaction to the Pope’s visit. Im Brazilian, and in my country his visit was praised and celebrated without a single word of criticism about all the recent abuse allegations not to say about his questionable opinions about birth control. Even before landing in Brasil, the Pope’s interview to our main tv channel was already based on his strong views against abortion and contraception methods (including condom!). We
We live in a country where the stats on neonatal mortality is nearly reaching the ones found in Britain and other developed countries however the stats for maternal mortality during pregnancy are bordering the figures found in north African countries. No doubt this is due to the illegal status of abortion, which forces the accidental mothers to rely on non-qualified “professionals” to do the job.
@clovismadruga Because you spoke with experience of living in a Catholic country, somebody clearly thought it a good idea to silence you by spamming your comments.
Our law is still obeying the church’s commandments so our politicians can keep the support from the catholic church and guarantee their votes. Our health department minister was the only public figure to raise any sort of opposition to the church’s arrogance to interfere in the country’s policies about this issue! He replied: “aborto e controle de natalidade” (abortion and birth control) are public health issues - not to be decided by the church! But he was only one! Shame on us!

@badpanda84 of course Catholics are Christians so are baptists, anglicans etc - but this really comes down to semantics- what do you mean by catholic? somone who lives the life and follows the rules who someone who kills catholics by the thousands (which a true catholic would never do) the pope at the time made it clear that his political ideas were incompatible with Xtianity
philosophyteacher 11 months ago
@philosophyteacher Well I guess you could call catholic christains if you also consider mormons and jehova witnesses chirstains.
Anyway the reason why the pope supported hilter is because they were more afraid of the communist in Russia

In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage"...

philosophyteacher 11 months ago
@philosophyteacher "how about animals? are they safe in the world of atheism and science ?"
That is irrevlant -- chirstains dosent comment much of the welfare of animals -- partly because 2000 years ago it wasnt a issuse ( ie animals where going extinct as they are today) and besides there are plenty of stories of animal sacrfices.
However buddist and hindus respect animals alot more
badpanda84 11 months ago

Philip Neri treated animals. . . . I
philosophyteacher 11 months ago
@badpanda84 Pope John Paul II reminded people that all living beings, including animals, came into being because of the "breath" of God. Animals possess the divine spark of life—the living quality that is the soul—and they are not inferior beings, as factory farmers, fur farmers, and others who exploit animals for profit would have us believe. After he became Pope John Paul II, His Holiness went to Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, and spoke of the saint's love for animals
philosophyteacher 11 months ago
@philosophyteacher "came into being because of the "breath" of God. Animals possess the divine spark of life"
Intresting because most chirstains I know says that animals dont have a soul and when they die that is it . there are no animals in heaven.
Of course maybe that is just a catholic thing that animals have a soul.
badpanda84 11 months ago
@philosophyteacher Also keep in mind that the only thing required to be an atheist is the lack of belive in God.
Two people could disagree on everything else but if they lack belief in God they are atheist.
Therefore wheather someone love animals or exploits the for profit has abousultly nothing to do with atheism...
Saying that all atheist are animal abusers is like saying all catholics are child molestors.

badpanda84 10 months ago
@badpanda84 did God condone it?
philosophyteacher 10 months ago
@philosophyteacher OF course God condone animal scarfices -- didnt you read the bible-- in fact he demanded animal scarfices- in the old testment..
Isn't that the whole point of an animal scarifice --- people dont scarifice animals for no reason ( after all back then animals where valuable property
badpanda84 10 months ago
@badpanda84 what is the relevance of that comment? Christianity does not follow the old Jewish laws on animal sacrifice (based on the old temple which after its destruction is now irrelevant)- my point which is relevant is that Catholics should respect animals, not be cruel and the bible does say that they should b e treated with respect which modern farming methods don't support- i think maybe you need to study what Christians actually think about animals rather than your made up views
philosophyteacher 10 months ago
@philosophyteacher But it is the same God that condoned that right -- the God of the old testment is the same god of the new testement right??
That is my point -- at some point God must have condoned it . I guess that kind of proves there is no absoulte moriality.. if there was then it would mean thing like slavery and animal scarfice would still be right -- ( because after all God did condone them in the old testement and he is perfect)
badpanda84 10 months ago
@badpanda84 yes but did God write the bible? well no people did so it is down to their interpretation and nothing to do with God so absolute morality has nothing to do with this- something is not right or wrong because of the way people behaved then- that is a relativist view- a simple undertsanding of the New Testament will verify this-but at the time of animal sacrifices in bible in other countries human sacrifices took place such as england so that is important
philosophyteacher 10 months ago
@philosophyteacher Hmm wasnt expecting any chirstains to admit that man wrote the bible and it has nothing to do with God..
If that is the case then a) how can we trust anything that is written in the bible ( as its merely there interperation)
and b) what make the bible so special and why do people take it seriously .
and c) why cant God write his own holy book -- after all he can do anything
badpanda84 10 months ago
@philosophyteacher Ok firstly are you claiming that the bible has nothing to do with God ? -- or are you staying only the bad bits ( like the book of leviticus) have nothing to do with God.
And secondly you admit that it was just written by a man -- if that is the case why do people take the bible seriously ( as if it's the word of God)
badpanda84 10 months ago
@philosophyteacher " yes but did God write the bible?"
NO --but I wonder why that is the case -- dont you think that God in his infinate power could write a book - instead he leaves it up to fallible humans who he knows will probably misinterprate it..
badpanda84 10 months ago

@philosophyteacher "- something is not right or wrong because of the way people behaved then- that is a relativist view"
I know but the realtivst view is correct.. Morals do and have changed over time.. Something is not right or wrong just because God declare it to be that way..
Abosulte moraility is saying something is right or wrong just because it is and you can't argue with that.
badpanda84 10 months ago
@philosophyteacher " think maybe you need to study what Christians actually think about animals rather than your made up views"
That is the problem -- the bible dosent say one way or another -- therefore it would depend on which chirstain I asked.
But consider this -- many chirstains belive that human are supurior to animals ( ie we have a soul) where are atheist (correctly) claim we are animal-- and that we decended from monkeys

@badpanda84 so you are wrong yet again you atheists need evidence rather than made up fairy stories to suit your own agendas- you need money for your vivisection labs etc the pope attacks them and look what happens- i have provided evidence not from some catholic sycophant but PETA own website i think that counts as comment doesn't it? did atheists set up the RSPCA ?urr no Christians again.....
philosophyteacher 11 months ago
@philosophyteacher First of all PETA is a joke.. if it was up to them everyone would be vegetaian and they even complained when Obama swatted a fly on national television.
And secondly "so are humans more important for atheists"
You do realise that atheist ( and most scientist ) actually say humans are animals and we share a common anscestor with monkeys... Unlike christains who thing that animals are diffrence and dont have a soul

Half of the local TV channels in my country are religious ones and have had significant success after a US/West backed coup d'état. Perhaps if the structures of power using religion as a tool were countered and criticized making people aware of why religion can be bad(as being the instrument of hegemony), religion could be not used and therefore, have no effect on people.
libertits 1 year ago
Having said that, I would like to clear out I'm not Christian and Christianity was definitely born as an instrument for the Romans to conquer the world. Yet, it won't work to solely criticize the instrument to eliminate the disease, you have to go to the roots, because virtually anything, even science(or pseudoscience) can be used int he same way as religion.

Any way not sure I could read one of his books again.
modomnoc1 1 year ago

The Buddha managed it, Mahavira, the Jain patriarch managed it, numerous Greek philosophers managed it.
qaplatlhinganmaH 1 year ago
So Jews and Christians are simply lying to themselves when they talk about the impediments to morality that prevailed in the 5th century BC. And theother thing to notice is that rationalizing the barbarism we find in the Old Testament merely renders it irrelevant, it doesn’t render these books morally wise. (Sam Harris)

42LightYears 1 year ago
@42LightYears I think that is a gross generalization. Some very learned scholars and intellectuals happen to believe in a higher force. Arnold Toynbee, the great British historian, did not compromise his work because of his personal beliefs. Nor did he ever present himself as scared. Now if you want to cherry pick and gather all the egregious things attached to religion, feel free, but don't pretend that is a balanced conclusion.

Many Chinese people offer incense and prayers to Mao Zedong. "Maoism" is also called neo-Confucianism, a religion that had/has ancestor and emporor worship.
qaplatlhinganmaH 1 year ago
Mao Zedong China had emperor worship.
