Yes indeed, I did thank you GLF, the best years of my life. I worked in the Casino inboard, so we were never open in Port, which meant lots of time off for sightseeing. There is a page on Facebook, QE2 and Cunarders, where the old crew post pics and keep in touch. You are welcome to join and have a look around if you wish. 19 years of no bills or taxes or worries. How times have changed since then.
Thanks John. I'll have a liitle look at the "Facebook" pages. Just think you had those 19 years without bills, taxes or worries - I did not!. Times certainly have changed, and not, for the most part, for the better. Keep on smiling my friend.
she's neither english scottish or irish she a true briton and a true british icon who should be enjoying retirement here in the UK look after here dubai
She is a British ship, but her home Port - and there can be no argument about this, as the name is proudly emblazoned on her stern - is "Southampton". That is where she should be for everyone to enjoy.
she was a true liner. I went to see her on the Clyde for the last time. When I went to see the QM2 on the clyde thought u could clearly see that the popularity of her was nothing compaired to the QE2.
QM 2 is part of the new breed of liner. Cunard did base her, more than a little, on the old Queens. I daresay in 30- 40 years time, many people will be expressing their lament at the retirement of that 'grand old lady'. I don't think I'll be around by then to see it though, but you never know!.
I watched her travel up Southampton water when she was brand new, I was there too when she travelled down it for the last time and shed more than a few tears.. A beautiful ship, a true ''liner'. There will never be another like her - ever.

@TheTraveltube
I did read the comment correctly and I agree with you. I am saying that she should be berthed permanently at her home Port of Southampton.
