Im not a body builder or anything but I can dead lift 500 pounds, bench 300, and leg press 1,000+. Ive got a meeting with a recruiter thurs. Going to sign that Rangers Contract as well. I love everything about the Army! It has a vast and amazing history. Combat is what drives me. Just knowing that there is going to be someone out there who may be stronger than me is all the motivation I need for self improvement. I used this video to show the "American Hero" Mentality in a presentation. Fighting is neither glorious nor heroic-especially when it does not aim at one's emancipation.
The purpose of this video is to encourage people to join the army, every country in the world has similar advertisements. Soldiers, even in the most liberal societies, give up their most basic freedoms so that the livelihood of others is protected against foreign threats.
I agree with you in that all countries have armies and that people give up some of their freedoms to protect them, but I think that fighting is only justified when it aims at one's liberation or if attacked by another country. In this case, I don't see where the threat lies. I think it mostly is conquest and taking over somebody else's resources.
It's almost as if you're blaming the army for performing its function. It's the job of the citizenry to elect moral and competent politicians who wouldn't deploy the army in the first place. But, as long as individual soldiers follow lawful orders, soldiers actions are justified but the politicians actions are not.
Of course it is the job of the people to elect moral politicians and they are the ones to blame. But do you believe that people should recruit if they do not agree with the government's policies?
Robots' job is to follow orders without criticism, not people's.
Soldiers recruit people from among the citizenry, not people recruiting people. If the citizenry have a problem with government policies then they should not have voted into power corrupt politicians in the first place. So yes, the people are the real ones to blame.

Soldiers are not robots, any soldier may disobey an unlawful order at any time without any reprisal by his superiors. A robot cannot.

Nothing you said has anything to do with a military force. Soldiers go on international training missions all the time. The EU is a political entity, but does not have an official military. There is no pact that binds EU countries to fight for each other. They're still independent. If the EU creates a military, you will be correct, but as of right now, there is no single military force of the EU, only many separate military forces. And I only mentioned NATO for comparison, I don't get the snark.

Im not a body builder or anything but I can dead lift 500 pounds, bench 300, and leg press 1,000+. Ive got a meeting with a recruiter thurs. Going to sign that Rangers Contract as well. I love everything about the Army! It has a vast and amazing history. Combat is what drives me. Just knowing that there is going to be someone out there who may be stronger than me is all the motivation I need for self improvement. I will be proud to serve with the worlds strongest and most honorable Army. HOOAH!!

I agree with you in that all countries have armies and that people give up some of their freedoms to protect them, but I think that fighting is only justified when it aims at one's liberation or if attacked by another country. In this case, I don't see where the threat lies. I think it mostly is conquest and taking over somebody else's resources.

It's almost as if you're blaming the army for performing its function. It's the job of the citizenry to elect moral and competent politicians who wouldn't deploy the army in the first place. But, as long as individual soldiers follow lawful orders, soldiers actions are justified but the politicians actions are not.

The Rogers family has been in every war and conflict known to man.... now im next, age 15 and already on ROTC and ARMY Recruitment Program. so well done.

But its also important to realize its more then what other people get, on one side, Americans have grown to having themselves "coddled" but on the other side, we don't tend to appreciate the rights that we do have, which are in a far greater quantity then many people around the world, in which we are trying to help them fix this.

Great example of a natural right being turned into a privilege by the American government. If we are are not free to start a business then we are not free at all. @hideousgrog Don't even confuse soldiers with mercenaries, soldiers in the United States military follow the US and do not change their allegiance based off of a paycheck. And there is a difference between disagreeing with the purpose of a conflict and calling the Army a bunch of thug-like oppressors. You disagree with the conflict, then disagree with whoever is or was dictating policy in federal government, the Army doesn't decide to start a war.

The Army's goal in Iraq is to rebuild, not destroy, that's why it costs a good bit of money. Iraq is not being annihilated, that's a clear exageration. And why do you keep asserting that soldiers follow every order without question? There are orders that are considered "illegal." Soldiers are suppose to be able to recognize these and refuse to partake in them.

There is a strength in obeying. By listening and trusting the commands from those above with your life and giving 110% effort, you have to force yourself to accept the consequences of their commands and accept their role as your commander. And you compare a US Army soldier to a "thug"? You must have no idea how much more training soldiers must recieve compared to your "thug" to do what they do. Nothing you said has anything to do with a military force. Soldiers go on international training missions all the time. The EU is a political entity, but does not have an official military. There is no pact that binds EU countries to fight for each other. They're still independent. If the EU creates a military, you will be correct, but as of right now, there is no single military force of the EU, only many separate military forces. And I only mentioned NATO for comparison, I don't get the snark.
