Sorry to hear that. I am bipolar so we all get something. It has total screwed up my life.
My brother just got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis yesterday. It runs on both sides of my family. My mom had RA at age 33, after I was born. My dad's sister had JRA and had it all her life. I am sure I may get it as well, as it is so much in my genes. I have eczema and wonder if there is a connection with RA since both involve the immune system. Hang in there, the treatments have improved.
And now, I have it in my left ankle. : ( Just had a shot in my left ankle 2 days ago. It swelled up with fluid just like my knee does, and hurt like hell.
why cant they give you a pain shot before they bring out that muther of all needles..at least the dentist gives you novacain before he brings out the drill and drills into your live nerves!!
Nobody says why this draining is being done..is it ongoing...
They freeze the skin before they give me the shot. It's stuff that's in a bottle and they spray it on. It numbs the pain of the actual needle going in, but I still feel the pain from the actual draining. It's from rheumatoid arthritis.
I've never commented before, but I also have RA. When my knees were drained the synovial fluid was thick, yellow and seemed almost crystalized. Has yours ever been like that? PS I'm sorry you've had it so long. I'm 49, diagnosed three years ago and I rattle with so many pills each day I'm seriously wondering if there IS an alternative way to make myself better? With the medication it is simply a "holding pattern". The hard thing is steering a way through the charlatans to find something genuine!
i got athritis...i got my knee drained a couple times....dat shit hurts really bad...its a weird type of pain...yall might laugh about it..but really dat shit hurts...no matter how tough you are.
Please support and donate here if you want to help cure this disease for you or someone you know. I also have RA...and I plan to be an advocate for finding an Arthritis Cure!
You alone can make a difference, please donate and don't rely on others to care if you wont do this much.
Believe it or not, I was fired from my job when I've had a procedure of this kind done to me. I've called my job for "Medical Leave". My Boss fired me when I hurt my left arm. I was a Bus Driver in a Northeastern State Of the United States. The State backs up the Boss for firing me after I've need this similaiar procedure done to me. My U.S. Civil Rights was violated when I was fired after this procedure was done.
i never said it looks like a piss i will say that i made a boo boo and said how when i was trying to say who that word has messed me up because my teachers always made that boo boo on the black board!!!!
omg i have ra to and they wanted to do that to me but i just missedmy appointment im glad i missed it i would probably scream or cry lol but yea it sucks having ra
Why so hateful and vulgar? It is medical standard practice. I don't know what hurt your feelings little girl, he may not wear gloves when he works on someone else that you know nothing about ... or at your age have you mastered all knowledge .. you snotty little putrid pile of shit. Ask any medical practioner what the medical standard is and why so many other people are asking where his gloves are.
Sorry to hear about your mom. It depends on how much fluid is in there, regarding the pain. I've had it drained sometimes and it didn't hurt at all. The initial pain comes when you can feel the suction going on. It's horrible. And when I had the tumor in my left knee, that was the most painfull draining of all.
Hey ignorant @sshole. This dcotor has been treating me since I was 12 years old. I'm not some kind of drug addict or whore, so I really don't think we have to worry about AIDS. On the other hand, treating you, is a differnet story. I reccommend a shrink for you. That obnoxious attitude of yours is really appalling.
that doctor is in experienced my knee when drained release's usually no blood at all what a mess and waste on the plaster to lol they use like almost button plasters here in the uk 8)
button sized sticky bandaids we always call them plasters,in regards to the surgical gloves im thankfull the doctor has to never use gloves as he has to feel precisely where to aim the needle underneath the joint, his hands are no way near the entry point when being injected, I have great confidence in my doctor, like I said there's no ooozing of bloood at all a meer spec, some one find a cure my elbow its playing up and the injection there is 10 x worse than the knee.
Hahahaha, yeah, I know it does look a lot like pee. When I was a teenager, it looked more like the juice left in the pickle jar, lol. And when I was a kid, it was orange.
I don't know why he don't wear gloves when he does that. I've been seeing him since I was 12. I don't have any diseases, but now that I think about it, I wonder if the other people he treats do. God, I'm stupid. I just never really thought about that before.
Oh yeah, I have had this done. I have general rheumatoid arthritis, Ankylosing spondylitis with spinal stenosis for good measure. Nothing is worse then waking up in the morning and you realize your knee has filled up overnight and you can't bent it. Getting it drained does hurt. But once the fluids gone it feels so much better. Thanks for sharing, I know just what you're going through.
WOW, you certainly have a lot to deal with there. I'm sorry to hear that. UGGGH, I hate waking up with that stiff feeling!! Or, the calm before the storm feeling. You know it's filling up, cuz you get that feeling like there's jelly in your knee, and by the next morning, it's stiffer than a dead body, and you can't bend it for nothing!
Actually it's not, I know it seems like it though... The needle is sanitary which had not come into contact with his hands at all. It wouldn't hurt for him to wear them, but it isn't necessary.
Well, I'm not one of them. I only take one pill and that's hydroxychloroquin. And it certainly don't make me feel or act weird. It takes the pain away and that's enough for me.
Well, it's kinda sore for a while after he drains it. For about a day or so. Adn it makes squishing noises when you walk, lol. That's because he injects medication in there afterward and you can hear it moving around. But after 2 days it don't hurt or squish anymore and no, most of the time the fluid doesn't come back. As long as I"m carefull and remember to take my meds, it stays away. But if I fall or bang my knee on something, that will make the fluid come back. Not all the time.
No, I don't have it in my hands. Just in my knees. I've been pretty lucky so far. A lot of people end up with it spreading to other joints. And I did have it checked out.
i have reumatoid arthrithis in my whole body, but i never saw this kind of medicin im getting Embriiel (anti-TNF) but that just a injectie and im just 14.But this must hurt more than mine
Im 26 and it had to be one of the most painful things I have ever had happen to me.
Its a big relief when the doc drains a heap of fluid out, though my knee swelled up again within about 30 mins.
It took around 2 months for my knee to get back to a semi normal state. I still have trouble with it on cold days or when my wife pushes down on it with out realizing.
I have had to give up skate/snow boarding and have to take it easy if im out hunting.
Mine is always so much less painful. My doc does it in a different way, just watch the video on my channel. I've had it for like 14 years (I am 18 now). I'm sorry you had to go through this and I totally understand you because I have the same disease.
What's the medicine the doctor inject after the draining? My wife suffers from knee effusion like you and had this procedure twice and she have knee pain constantly (left knee).
