@SoSoniLove generally, cardio workouts are best for weight loss so in effect these could help you lose weight. Strength exercises just pad out fat with muscle underneigth them. Endurance are quite good for building quite shapely muscles so basically holding a squat for an extended amount of time for example, so my advice would be do about 70-30 with cardio and endurance. I could be wrong, but do what suits you, but whatever you do, DO NOT STOP AS SOON AS YOU GET A BIT TIRED, just think, 2 more.
I suggest doing these with a circle of people, especially once you've gotten up to goals of 150 jump squats, since the laughs that will undoubtedly ensue are going to further enhance your abdominal burn and the group motivation is always a bonus.

I hate to break it too you all...but you won't kill your back if you do this. I ve been doing it for four months and my back is strong. If you do it right you won't have any injuries. By the way, you do need to do cardio and toning to lose weight. Sorry but thats the reality of it all..plus eating right. Toning won't make you lose weight by yourself..your must making your fat bigger....
I notice you're not going very low with the actual squat. Would it be harmful to go lower with the squat before the jump? Maybe it would be worse for the knees? Thanks.
@Chistant Well, depends if you want to risk it.. it's better to just take more reps, or you could take on some weight, like a backpack or have some weight in your hands.. but i would not recommand to go lower..
@Tarlor90 the whole point of this exercise is not the use weight. ur just risking your back if you are. If you simply go lower, you use your glutes/quads more since u need more stabilization. from this video, the girl doesn't even get a full range of motion, it's a joke, i bet she doesn't even feel anything jumping
I think this is a good exercise. In my opinion it is important not to do them on a hard surface like concrete and to warm up properly first. Burpees incorporate a squat jump and are one of the best body weight exercises for overall strength development.
