Where do you get your drum kicks and claps? Ive been working on electro and dubstep, and its really hard to get a good hard hitting track without a solid drumline. Thanks man and keep up the great work, ur tutorials are very helpful
Some of the key elements to creating a hard hitting drum sound that sits well in the mix (especially with bass heavy electronica) are things like EQ and compression. Even some of the sounds on the reason soundbank can sound good with the right use of EQ and compression. With the kicks, remember to EQ the sub frequencies out and most of the time you wont need any of the high end. With sampled sounds there is always some residual unwanted frequencies, try cutting them with an EQ and compress them.
AHHHH FUCKING SHIT FUCKING HELL why do I fail at almost every tutorial!? D: When he showed how it would sound like at 3:08, I just got a fucking "bom! vuvuvuvuvu" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
thanks alot man.. i had never used reason in my life. and made a track using 2 of your instructional vids.. its on my page and is called Monk Rythym lol tell me if u like it
Ok i got the sound, perfect. How do you slow the rate & stuff down in the automation, like in the little example you made. Iv tried all the automation but cant find it.
@TheXlr8ion right click on rate click edit remote override mapping, the make sure the box is checked " learn fro control...." then turn the knob on your controller. done
mate is what up with your combinator, you're gonna lose customers because it looks like a clowns radio and no-one can see what you're doing apart from that very well done!
@vlcmstn815 just dont put in the master chain, loo at how your routing is being done, your drum kit should NOT be wobbling if its not being inserted somewhere in the master chain, make sure its either seperate or atleast side chained or gated to be seperate from the wobble effect that you have going for your drones or bassline synths
The rate he is using is a tempo sync rate of 1/16 beat you can also change up the speed of the wobble by changing the rate to 1/8, 1/8t, 1/8d etc. . .
All MIDI controls rely on parameters between 0 and 127. If any parameter in Reason allows you to go below 0, it's not actually modifying MIDI parameters, it's just using a proprietary scale to modulate an internal setting.... So in the case of Mod a's rate, since it's a MIDI-assignable parameter, it goes 0-127 where 0 is as slow as the mod wave can be played and 127 is as fast as it can play.
dude man. show us what if freakin sounds like!!! i watched like 3 of your videos and its mainly you stuttering while im trying to concentrate on all the complicated shit your trying to explain. i appreciate the video's but wouldnt it be common sense to show us what these knobs are doing as you use them. geesh
ure so pathetic intertubers -.- he tries to help ppl who want to learn it and i faggot think u have to leave a ghey comment like this - this is so ridiculous
you need to use the combinator, and map the OCILATOR RATE to one of the combinator knobs, which will allow you to use one of the knobs on your USB midi controller (assuming you have a midi keyboard with knobs)
My god ! I've been stuck in Reason and you make it look so easy ! First thing tomorrow when I get back tomorrow from a long day I'm going to buy your refill !
this is way off topic, but do you think you can recreate that main synth lil jon uses?? i try to recreate it but i just cant do it, a good example in a song is( Katt Williams - Sweat ya perm out ) please tell me if you can do make that, its killin me!! lol
and im certain i followed it in the first vid but its not working when i click on combinator, no sound is coming and ive tried clicking on the malstrom and it isnt making anynoise.
how did you customize your combinator?

put the drum kit in a separate combinator, and hook everythi ng up in separate combinators with individual mixers.

actually the wobble originated in dubstep and D&B NOT fidget house or electro.
klone138 2 years ago
@klone138 Well, in that case it most definently originated in Dnb about 15 years before Dubstep.
