  • the man is literally a genius. i legitimately cannot comprehend why the 'press darlings' do not recognize him as such. i mean, fuck, who the HELL else sounds like him?

  • Totally fab the 80s ROCK as does Adam Ant. What a great time to be a teen and have such a hot guy n band to love. Antmusic for Sexpeople x x

  • Christ he's gorgeous. I've never seen someone rock the leather pants like that.

  • the guitar riff of lenny kravitz - want to get away sounds similar to this.

Adam , as well as marco, are such innovators

  • the only 80's band to compare to them is Killing Joke

  • @lukewilder1965 That's a very valid point and although I've never noticed it before this actually sounds like Killing Joke circa Fire dances.

  • It's also on the 'Dandy Highway Men' compilation :)

  • no one could touch these in the 80s,,f/ukin brill

  • mmmm... love it - really miss those days that music

  • Cor blimey that was great.Such a great era to be 17

  • Good to see Adam again. It's been awhile.

  • only bought the record for this on the b side.

  • its on the CD B side babies!

  • he's stunning. The way he presents himself on stage and everything. <3

  • anyone else love the way he sings 'we are a terminal case'? brilliant

  • his voice is epic on this

  • great track, just not represented well here live.

  • This was the B side to the Kings of the wild Frontier 7' single... My first Vinyl Purchase.... Spuin its Lost !! Ahhhh

  • He is so sexy. :p And I love this song!! :D Sounds great live!

  • Good then. Good now. You just can't help singing along. Great music lasts forever!

  • Absolute brilliance! Around the time I saw them live - my first ever live show - htf do you top this???!

  • His voice alone is orgasmic

  • perfect description =]

  • They were well ahead of their time. If only they were at their prime currently.

  • ooo this is fascinating. Prince Charming started out as an ode to Gary Bushell! Wasn't he heading up a Nazi skinhead band called 4skins about the same time?

  • Gary Bushell was not a member of the 4-Skins - he was a Sounds journalist who wrote about them. Bushell was a socialist in those far distant days, and very definitely anti-racist.

The 4-Skins were NOT a nazi band - I think different members had different politics and at least one was a socialist (admittedly one member did become involved in the far right AFTER leaving the band).

  • That's very interesting too. Why did the Ants sing about him then? I suppose he was just as horrible when he was right-on!

  • cablebasher - I think Bushell had probably slagged off the Ants - Nick Kent is also mentioned in the song. Adam was into the arty side of punk, Bushell was into the working class "street" side - both were anti-racist but that's about all they had in common.

  • Adam was so better than the musical movement he inhabited. I saw him with his band during the Strip tour, in Davis, California with the two drummers, firepole and swimming pool - LOL!

Got his autograph too! Simply brilliant! Maybe still the best concert I've ever seen, and I've seen MANY.

  • I remember that show so well. I tell everyone still to this day if they ask me what are the best live shows I have seen. This tour is always the top, amazing with two full bands and orchestras. I have seen just about every live band that is anybody over the last 26 years and Adam was one of the best, hands down.

  • Other 80s music is why Adam is so amazing, he did something brilliant, like a bright light in a very dark room.

Some 80s music was ok, flock of seaguls, Teardrop explodes, Gary Numan...

  • There was actually loads of good music in the 80's, it's just there was a lot of crap to go with it.

  • @Johnzoil

The crap CLEARLY outweighed the good by a large margin.

Adam Ant somehow evaded this rule.

Now, the (early) 90s had lots of good music, in complete stark opposition to the 80s.

  • this song NEVER dates.....the press are always on the prowl... lilliy allen's song is an uptodate version of this

  • I could use some pants like that...

  • He moves so sexily ;)

  • I just downloaded every album song and b-side from iTunes, the only song I can't get from there is "plastic surgery" I love Adam ant, can't believe I had to be born in the 90s, bloody beige nightmare! Where have all the daring and interesting people gone?

  • you ask tough questions

  • i was born in the 90's and i love adam ant! reading his autobiography atm :)

wish i was around to witness him at his greatest!

  • The Antz were amongst a very few bright moments in the 80s.... most of it was utter shite - check out Bros, Phil Collins and anything by Stock Aitkin & Waterman if you doubt me.... but I lived through it and it was awful. Adam and his band of troubadours were the bomb that kicked off that whole 80s 'glam' revival.... and no wonder cos he loved Bowie and Roxy Music... check that out.... 70s peacock rock!

  • soo true!

  • When my dad first came over here he used to sell tickets

and they would tell the kids that would buy tickets for him to sell that he was Adams bro

  • i loved adam ant growing up around 1980/81 he was a mass influence had all his singles from zerox right up to friend or foe 1982,a great performer this tunes class.

  • Love the lyrics!!! ANARCHY lol!!!

  • He's so PHYSICAL!!! lol...

  • Adam is the greatest!!!

  • I LOVE ADAM & THE ANTS!!!! I was lucky enough to see them live when I was 12. But even better then that I got to meet him. Thank goodness for older brothers that worked at the arena.

  • The best!!!

  • Thankyou for this! I love the Ants, and Adam of course. There is nobody like him, and never will be. so unique!

  • Does this song exist on any cd in the UK?

Strange that it was'nt added as an extra track on the re-issue of Kings of the Wild frontier or Prince Charming, because it's a great song!

  • I think the only UK CD it's on is the 'Super Hits' compilation from 1998. And, yeah, it is strange, considering it's probably one of their best songs...

  • vinyl b side to Kingsotwf

  • It's an extra track on K.O.T.W.F CD (Colombia 474611-2) together with Physical (you're so), I bought it ages ago.

  • It's on "Dandy Highwaymen - The Best Of Adam And The Ants" which is available in the UK. =]

  • 4 months on, i know. i have the b sides album. two copies.

this song, "press darlings", is only on certain hard to get editions of the cd. the disc is called "b side babies".

i'm really annoyed they're playing games with fans like me.

kings bside and canadian edition of kings album.

    try online.

  • @skellaway It's on the Dandy Highwaymen The Best Of Adam And The Ants CD

  • @skellaway I only know it was a b side ot one of the kings songs..

  • @skellaway its also on the Dandy Highwayman Best of Adam and the Ants. Its a great CD anyway :)

  • They ALWAYS gave it their all live.

  • I love this song!!!

I also love at the end where Adam makes those funny sounds, te second one sounds so sexy!

    They make me giggle!

    Love you Adam!

  • It's sick how fantastic this shit is.

Anyone know if this footage exists on dvd???

  • Seeing Adam live transformed my life. Really, there was no one better!

  • There's not a mainstream band these days who can touch the Ants!

  • Damn I loved this song and still do. There is nothing like a good ANT song to get you bouncing around. He was the best. Best concert I ever saw! I was 11 and it was F'ING AWESOME!!!!! Had not heard tios in a LONG time and def have nto watched ofotage of this in almost 2 decades..Holds up beautifully! BRAVO ADAM and said ANTS...BRA-f"ing_VO!!

  • In 1982 when I was in High School in Alabama girls would kill over Adam. Even in the south woman loved him.

  • fuk me i luv him...

i luv the ants i lvu allllllll of i punk and pop..

but the punk is siik man luv it <3ADAM ANT<3

  • So nice to have live performance clips of this talented crew. Not the usual songs either. The Ants live was a show like nothing else. Just to have this man look at you once in that audience of warrior paint was something I will never forget. Anyone beg to differ that these boys are one of a kind and permanently scarred the face of music with the best of intention? Left a red, red scab.....

  • Amen! There's not a mainstream band these days that could touch the Ants even with a 300 foot can of raid!

  • So true.

    So, so, soooo true.

  • Press Darlings is my favorite Ants track - hard to believe is was never actually released on the original UK version of KINGS LP - later added to the U.S. LP came out. Amazing to see/hear a LIVE version, WOW!

  • ant music will never die, put down the starting gun and cut another ablum its been to long bal

  • yeah....i second that!remember after i saw wonderful show at shepheards bush....gang of black gangster rapper kids got on the tube and started eyeballing everyone only to get eyeballed back by a carriage full of ant warriors....boy did they sit quiet and look worried...80's rule!

  • HOW MARVELOUS!

I do love me some Adam Ant <3

  • are we different gary?

    NO!!!!

    we are exactly the same!!!

we need to start remembering that...

  • i suppose adams careeer went down hill due to a number of reasons but if u like his music you will buy it and stuff the rest.

  • Adam should have put the microphone down his pants.

  • I plussed that for sheer lulz.

  • That man is far tooooooooo hot and sexy for words. All I can mumble is........YUMMY!!!! Thanks for this posting.

  • He should have known better to dis the press because they all decided to ignore him and his career went into the loo.

  • haha I beg to differ on that one. Adam wasn't ignored at all by the press he is still a topic today.

  • nah. they never did ignore him ever. that's the whole point.

  • thats not what happened. his bi-polar disorder took over and the press had a field day. they even hunted down his mmum to wear she worked and she had to quit (and she loved her job0. press were after adam. that is not why his career is down the loo. actually hes making a come back. his calender is out, a new dvd is coming out, a new album and his fan will be behind him all the way!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I'm happy for him to come back. He lost it in the 80's because he abandoned his unique sound and went to 80's pop.He took that same gamble so many artists have taken of "ok we might alienate our fan base but we'll gain 2 teenyboppers to every one fan we lose. It doesn't work that way with teenagers though. Once you lose a teenage fan they're gone.

  • The thing is he was already pop when he first came out, but I guess it became a little too slick.

  • what calendar?

    will he come to Australia?

    what new dvd?

    what new album???????

  • im goin 2 see adam ant in london in sept

  • antmusic for sexpeople

  • i agree, and what a way that man can swivel those hips, these videos bring back alot of old memories, damn i love adam!

  • I can honestly say that when I was 15 that man was cause of many, many fantasies, Hell what am I saying, he still has the ability to give me warm, tingly feelings lol

Long Live the King (of the Wild Frontier)!!!!!

  • Adam Ant=sex on legs

  • totally.

  • My god!!!! I could eat him up.... no need for a fork. Just finger licking good times..

  • I love the way he ends it!
