As I developer I wanted a test device with 3.1.3 for legacy support, I tried everything to upgrade a iPod Touch 2G MB from 2.2.1 to 3.1.x, nothing worked.... until NOW!

Successfully running 3.1.3 now.

I did have to mess around with different versions of sn0wbreeze to get a successful restore, v2.9.1 was the version that worked in the end for me.

The reason this only works with pre iPhone 3GS and MB models is because of the new boot rom. A signature blob from apple (or cydia) is required. Nothing spectacular, or new in this video. BTW you cannot downgrade any iOS device compatible with 5.0.

always use older itunes for what i build or call custom firmware see if your firmware matches your modem firmware. like your version aka firmware can be 3.1.3 but look at (handle) meaning 4.2.1(4c111) can be that on ipod or iphone but your using 4.2.1(4c222) in custom firmware.

second part run usbview.exe, select options and MAKE SURE "Config Descriptors" is checked, then find your device in the list of devices connected (Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB Driver)and look for the ECID number that is in the summary for the device. Copy that number!!!
