i would get my balls booted for doing this, any plasterer can hear that stuff has set. if all the small holes and marks are filled, fair enough but polishing a wall when it's past setting is just an armbreaker. coat in a good thickness, flaten. one wet rub and a polish (two wet trowels) finished. decent 2" brush and a 4" paintbrush from b&q a spraybottle will murder a diyer.

are you even putting anything on ?, seems like your making a right meal of it and hardly putting any muck on the wall never seen anyone second coat like that, i just lay it up like the first coast only abit tighter then flatern it in the trowl it up, i agree with you about using spray bottles though but you wona get bigger ones that you pump it from the top they hold alot more water, thats quite a new trowel though, best ones are worked in on rendering like mine ;)
