it appears to be a POWDER RIVER COAL TRAIN THAT COMES FROM OUT WEST>>ACROSS NORTH ALABAMA TO CHATTANOOGA THEN GA...this train also in the vid appears to be coming from the east so id assume its a empty hence 731

@pcemt770 Its not a Power River train. NS 730 comes out of KY or VA and goes to MS. The BNSF power is just some barrowed run through power and well as the ex-SOO engine.

Nice video! This coal train has been coming thru Bham for years going to Purvis, MS. Back in the 90's it would have CSX power since it was loaded on the CSX.

Great video! But this isn't a Sherer train, it's Purvis coal train headed for Purvis, MS. It comes through Chattanooga on the AGS North. NS 730 is a loaded train, 731 is the empty. Also the coal comes from either KY or VA.

Sorry if I confused you. This is deifinately NS 730, Southbound loaded Purvis coal train. I know the southbounds are usually odd numbered but this is one of the exceptions. 730=SB Loaded, 731=NB Empty

Nice video. Between cars 3 and 6 you can hear those EMD's winding up a few more notches, yet the speed of the train doesn't really increase very much.  I wonder if there is a slight grade there?
