@VRockVulture I used a V.I.O. POV 1.5 They have recently come out with a HD version that looks great. The advantages of the VIO system are it's video quality, use of normal batteries, numerous adjustments and having a monitor built into the unit. The downsides are that the base unit is rather large and you have to route the wire from the base unit to the camera itself.
Poling makes sense in certain spots on the river for sure! We kayak it quite frequently from our ranch between Bastrop and Smithville. I am not talented enough to stand up though!
In 1989 there were reports of an alligator in the area around Bastrop. Since then I guess there have been a few reports of small alligators, but for some reason there are very few in that area of Texas! I saw one in the San Marcos River in 1990, a 5 footer.
