Yeah, since this is like the first attempt ever at lurker, they probably didnt know that they can jump in the water to avoid dmg from sprout. So they did it the obvious way.

And running around is way harder.

Also, as far as I know, at that time the water was still bugged and the fishes didnt despawn when killing the trash in the platforms. (or something like this)

So the only way was to run around the circle without getting killed.

Jumping in the water is 1 way of avoiding sprout, running around Lurker, avoiding his sprout completely is the best way. If your raid isn't full of retards, this task should be no problem at all.

Jumping in the water however is bad on 2fronts, depending on which route you took, you WILL take damage in the water, whether it be from fish, or hot water, the damage is quite extensive. Definitely making a healers job harder.

Maybe it sucks for you tanks, but not for anybody else, say rogues.. 5 seconds is way too overpowered, they can basically spam it and hardly be hit, and then they can revenge for over 1.5k normal, and nearly 3k crit.. so it was basically impossible for rogues to kill a tank back when shield block was only a 5 second cooldown.

Actually the Mace from SSC is better than Thunderfury. Altough check out the Kel'Thuzad tanking sword (in 60 naxx) far better tanking weapon than Ragnaros (stats wise, altough thunderfury creates more aggro) - The mace from SSC is called " Mallet of the Tides " It was the first tanking weapon that people changed into from Thunderfury in tbc.
