  • She definitely over reacted, not entirely her fault though. It is mentally tough to do But could have easily avoided the roll over with a calmer reaction. She was smart to ware seat belts for sure.

  • Ford Explorers Are Prone to Rolling Over.

  • She is actually lucky to be alive in another way after a roll over like this in a Ford Explorer, they are know as an "Exploder" in the car biz.

  • Same thing happened to me while i was driving an 05 Equinox. EXCEPT i didnt roll over lol lots of body roll though. BUT the nox is also on a car platform, but has the same ground clearence as a ford explorer

  • scare reactions or offguard can trigger wrong moves .

to control your own reaction takes practise and a bit of luck.

im pretty calm in traffic and dont like loud music in the car.

that helps paying attention to what goes on around you.

and try to keep cars in front or behind you ,so you can see them.

if they are in a blind spot .

then move faster or slow down , so you see him again.

  • ugh. don't all try to make yourself sound smart. if anyone here is musically inclined, they know that retard means slow, or to slow down. mental retardation is a condition where it is derived from the origin of the word "retard" and stupid fucks like most of cyber america like to use retard as slang. also, mental retardation can be natural, but not always. noooot sure why your post, "waltsa200", got so many likes for that.

  • This is what happens when someone starts to pull into the lane of a woman driver. She freaks out and spins her steering wheel. stupid stupid

  • I hope they caught the person who ran her off the road

  • "Hey,someone else has they're vehicle in close proximity to mine,I know,a sudden jerk to the left then back to the right would be a great move"

Epic fail,if you don't have the skills to drive one of these lawsuit generators just stick to a Honda civic, you could jerk them like that 100 times, and no rollover.

Other driver made a little mistake, and Browness went ahead and wrecked.

  • cant wait till my ford explorer dies. as a mechanic it was the worst car ive ever bought besides that cadillac cimmeron ha

  • more like rolloverS, cool video

  • i saw that today on the highway dom that shit was scray

  • High speeds, sudden movements = lose of control

  • her fault for driving a SUV.

  • I saw this on tv on night, the lady that rolled her suv, was cutt of by a the black car.

  • In that kind of situation what would you do? Split second decision for something that catches you off guard.. You may say she doesnt know how to drive or whatever but when someone runs into your lane and sideswipes you and you didn't see it coming id be willing to bed 90% of you talking all high and mighty, your mouths are bigger then your brain and you'd overreact to. It's funny shes a bad driver but no complaints for the car that side swiped her... Stupid people now days arent worth nothing

  • female drivers no survivors!!!

  • asian

  • she was caught by surprise..it's not her fault. Some of you are blaming her but you'll never know what your brain will make you do when something like this just happens all the sudden.

  • @sweetbiella It was the car fault that almost side swip her.

  • Oh, ok, I know how to drive. Thanks though. I'd laugh my ass off if that was you in that truck

  • Calm down you dickless aussie

  • Rolled... Not cartwheeled. If it had cart wheeled like that, she would be dead.

  • uh oh... I drive a 1998 Ford Explorer, comparable to her '03 Explorer, I better be careful O_o

  • The driver in the middle screwed up. The left lane driver screwed up even more. Not because she over-reacted, which she obviously did, but she did not obey a simple traffic regulation

    Keep right unless passing

Thats right, the left lane is for passing only. If she was obeying that rule she wouldnt be next to that car for more than a second or two and this accident would likely never happen.

  • why minus,,,he was right.....never ever cruise beside a vehicle in a highway...because of blindspot....

now I dunno if this happens while the suv passing but the car in the middle should've shoulder check too...

  • I live in Lansing. The real story is that the driver who ran her off the road was a teenager, changing his T-SHIRT while moving over to allow traffic to enter the highway.

The lady in the SUV was fine, she was in the left lane allowing slower traffic to enter the highway. If the other driver had moved over sooner, he might not have caused this accident.

  • @derbydriver it was on most shocking police chases

  • @firedept35 i know, and they had the story wrong.

  • not every state has that law. Florida doesnt and Im sure its not the only one

  • @martinmarzejon maybe that law is enforced wherever you are but not a lot of states go by that load of horseshit

  • my dad and i used to have a joke about ford suvs. we'd call them rovs(roll over vehicles).

  • i drive a little ass car and people in Tulsa did this shit to me all the time. Learning not to jerk that wheel the first few times can be hard but i dont think i ever jerked it that much... gross

  • nondrivers+suv=not good

had this been a car, she would have been just fine instead of barrel rolling 8 times. dont' you feel safe in your big oversized POS now?

  • you just couldnt afford an suv or gas prices so your probably stuck with some little honda rice box

  • Although the other car made a wrong move, this driver totally over reacted.

  • because of the other driver!!!!!

  • Amazing how the other drivers just drove away. Maybe if the shoe was on the other foot, would they want other drivers to just drive away from them too.

  • she should have just braked and try to keep it as straight as possible.. she just jerked the wheel.. no wonder it rolled...

  • is it just me or is this just ... doesn't it look like the suv swerves too much! what i mean is to me it seems like the little car did that on purpose! so they could've been mad at each other over something we don't see on the vid. and its like the suv thought the little car was really going to hit her this time! and being that upset over the quarrel before - its really logical she oversteers and bang! so... whacha think

  • I have to agree with NikitasGuitars. She saw the car and swerved way too far to the left into the dirt and when she tried to correct herself she flipped. When something like this happens you don't oversteer because you have a high center of gravity, you try to use your brake.

  • van should of hit that motherfucker that caused that accident

  • ESP Would of saved that car from rolling over.

  • that is the exact opposite way of handling that situation. if you run off the road stay off the road and stow down until you gain control. then ease back onto the highway when it is safe. do not panic.

  • Yes but does your average mortal THINK to do this when they're suddenly off the pavement at 70mph?

  • looks to me that she had no choice, the best driver would have rolled that, including yourself

  • no she could have gone down to the median. she didnt have to stay on the road

  • i would not have rolled it!!!!!

  • I may have rolled in that situation, Im not sure what I would have done. But that is a great learning vehicle, dont think i will be making that mistake after watchin ghat

  • I am not sure why she would have tried to stay on the road when the car that tapped her was still next to her. There was plenty of room in the median for her to slow down enough to get back onto the highway. there was no reason to stay on the road.

  • Absolutely. While this was obviously the other drivers fault, the SUV's driver shows a lack of understanding of how a large vehicle like that handles... or more specifically does not... Unfortunately despite the proliferation of moronically large SUV type vehicles on American roads, most if not all of their drivers still drive them like they're in sportscars, which not only is dangerous to them but is extremely dangerous to the rest of us on the road in normal sized vehicles.

  • first of all this a midsize suv,and second, most intellengent people would done the same thing,if a car sevres towards you,you avoid it,she didn't intend on going off the road, and when she did you can see her trying to stay off the road,by counter steering, but by then it was to late, just because somebody looks like an idoit dosen't mean they are

  • First of all a midsize suv is still a way heavier vehicle than most of the people who drive them know how to handle. Second of all swerving is never the right solution at hiway speed ESPECIALLY in something with a high COE like an SUV. Especially with the proliferation of stability control and abs, the brake pedal can get you out of way more trouble than the steering wheel can.

  • and you have the ablity to think of all that in around a second.

  • Brake pedal versus handfuls of steering wheel? I dont have to think that one through dude.

  • she was trying to avoid being hit,by the time would have noticed the car servering towards her the brakes wouldn't have helped, and from her point of veiw would have still resulted in a collesion, serving out of the way would be the only way of avoiding a collesion!!

  • What the hell is a collesion? I hope you don't drive range rovers like this.

  • collision*,and an expert driver would have most likely done the same thing to avoid crashing

  • No, an expert driver wouldn't have done something stupid that caused the SUV to roll over. I'm done with this argument, have a nice day.

  • an expert driver would know you couldnt of swerved that hard at a high rate of speed.. wit a top heavy car... she deff jerked the wheel way to hard to the left and right = fail

  • the only reason it rolled though was because of the dirt, and notice how she tryed not to stay off the road once she left the road, shes not an idiot!!

  • im not calling her dumb... she just needed better wheel control.... you just cant jerk the wheel at high speed like that... your not in a Porsche its a SUV

  • well when you just barly see car serving towards you its hard to think logicaly, plus notice how she tryed to counter steer when she started to slide, right before she rolled,it would seem as if she noticed her mistake, tried to fix it,but failed!!

  • i noticed she tried to fix her mistake.... but she made it worse... when she jerked to the left.. she could of slowed down and pulled over.. or slow down on the grass... instead she made a quick decision to counter steer to the right.. in a jerking motion witch caused the back end to get out... with no race experience at high speeds she lost the back end.. and when it finally gripped she was sideways and started to roll...double jerk + 70mph = fail

  • no honestly , women have a tendency to jerk the wheel even if the wheel just goes off the edge of the road just a bit very fast. they jerk the wheel in the opposite direction causing more harm than good.

  • You're an idiot and a bigot. Have a nice day.

  • Comment removed

  • she kept her foot on the gas and once she regained traction, she was sideways, so it flipped. mostly her fault.

  • That's why in Driver's Ed, they teach you that if you wind up in the shoulder, you should drive on the shoulder a few seconds until the car stabilizes, then turn slowly back into the travel lane. I took Driver's Ed 22 years ago, and somehow I managed to remember that. Now what the hell was that person's excuse?

  • they also teach you in Driver's Ed. to not change lanes without looking first as well as not to side swipe cars, which the driver in the silver car would have done if the SUV driver hadn't noticed

  • she probably was trying to stay on the road, and didn't realize it she was on the dirt, stuff like that happens very fast, hardly enough time to think!!

  • This is why I do not drive SUVs

  • not all SUVs are this rollover prone.

  • You can't blame the SUV, it was purely her fault. Well, it began when the other car swerved towards her, so technically it was their fault for not looking before trying to change lanes, but it looked like she just saw them coming and yanked the wheel to the left, and then yanked it to the right too hard to compensate. Definitely not what you should do while going highway speeds.

  • id blame the driver of the silver car!

  • Maybe a good massage like this to his brain will make him smart enough to never run from cops ...

  • He was NOT running from cops!!!! The idiot to the right was changing lanes without looking...maybe a smack on the side of your head will make you not jump to conclusions.

  • lol romboy is right. this was on americas wildest police videos. the guy on the right was running from the cops

  • Errr,wrong.

watch it more carefully next time it's on,the car on the far right was merging onto the highway, and the car in the middle tried to merge right without looking, the SUV pulled a stupid and jerked the wheel, lost control and crashed.

The person who "caused" the wreck kept right on cruising.

  • merge left I mean..lol

  • Haha, typical SUV. They always rollover in wrecks on the expressway. Stupid bitch should've died, that's what you get for driving an ugly unreliable gas guzzler! Same goes to anyone driving one of these pieces of shit!

  • lol mad cuz one ran over your small little shit?

  • I don't drive little cars but everyone driving these tanks is entirely unnecessary. Half the people with those things could've just bought a sedan but for some idiotic reason were convinced by the dealer to buy the big guzzler (Makes the stupid girl feel safe and the guy feel like he has a bigger penis). Typical weak-minded car buyers...

  • ppl have their reasons. like the fact that once you have a cramped sedan on a road trip nobodys having fun.

  • Seriously, not all sedans are cramped. The majority are very comfortable. Only something like a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic would I say is cramped. They even managed to make the Honda Fit roomy though, not a good enough reason.

  • omg.... we were just in an explorer rollover on the highway... we both walked away ... that's a crazy fuckin accident....

i cant believe that could have been us.....

    omg...

  • Is not a 2003, God I HATE STUPID PEOPLE.. This is a flim form Cops form like 99.. The SUV which is a Ford is like a 96; only happen because some stupid kid clipped her and the Cop flimed it all..

  • Martinsbrew, Well you hate stupid people huh??? You shouldn't be soo hard on yourself! YOUR whole post is stupid! The EMILY BOWNESS crash happened May 22nd , 2006. She was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer. Some stupid kid NEVER CLIPPED her, there was ZERO contact between the car & SUV.. So WHY do you waste time on here posting totally INCORRECT BULLSHIT!?? YOU are the one that appears STUPID!

  • LOL you're retarded...

  • Martinsbrew, EVERYONE can EASILY search Emily Bowness and find info on this crash, and find you are WRONG.

"RETARDED" is a NATURAL mental illness that some unfortunate people have. Very different from being just a plain uneducated 22 year old dumbfuck like yourself.

  • Retarded is natural,, better than being a dumbfuck like yourself! Of course I'm RIGHT, I check facts, you blow out your ass with ZERO MERIT!!! Put that time on your hands jerkoff!

  • Also, she was in the left lane which mean she must have been driving pretty fast. And common sense will tell you that SUVs and trucks are very unstable at high speeds. I drive a '97 Explorer XLT and even at 65 MPH, when I change lanes I can feel the all the weight shift.

  • And if you get an SUV or truck sliding sideways when it still has a lot of that forward motion, its nearly impossible to keep it from rolling over.

  • Part 1-

They shouldn't let just anyone drive SUVs and trucks. They should have to get an endorsement like motorcycles because SUVs and trucks handle very differently from cars and should therefore be driven differently. If you see the video when it's played back, she saw a driver coming into her lane so she steered off the road and then panicked and tried to regain control after the rear tires had loss traction on the sand. This cause the rear end to come around like when you're drifting.

  • wow rough

  • Lucky FEW? Well, I have noticed on a daily basis, of the thousand SUVs that I pass on the road per day, about 990 of them are laying on (or off) the road upsidedown. It's like an SUV wreck every 500 feet.. Can't get down the highway on count of 'em.

  • doesn't matter if it was a woman driving or not if they had been in a vehicle with a lower center of gravity this simply wouldn't have happened. all suvs should be made illegal to drive on public roadways. 99% of the people that drive suvs do it as an image thing. wow see how cool i look in my suv as it rolls over.

  • How stupid this reply is. SUVs made illegal to public roadways?? SUVs an IMAGE thing?? Lay off smoking the pot and don't be jealous because you can't afford a nice SUV.

  • stupid reply you better check yourself. suvs should be made illegal on public roads, they are a danger to the people driving them and all other motorist since they are so top heavy and have soft suspension under them to make them ride better. the problem with this is that the more top heavy a vehicle is the heavier the suspension needs to be to keep them from rolling over.

  • I have ALREADY checked! SUV's illegal on public roads in nuts! I know plenty about SUVs and their set ups as I've been a body shop owner for years. I have also owned SUVs for years. Amazingly, I have managed not to roll them over since the are SOO VICIOUSLY dangerous to the public!! LOL!!

  • just give it time or maybe you will be one of the lucky few that don't roll over. good luck

  • I don't know why you guys are even arguing...IT'S A WOMAN DRIVER.

  • sweet, that what happens when you drive a SUV :D

  • No thats what happens when you drive an SUV and don't know what you are doing. To many people nowadays drive an SUV just like it is a car, but unfortunately for them it is not a car.

  • Are you ppl stupid this has barely anything to do with the poor driving of the person in the suv, this was caused by the retard in the car who doesnt know how to drive. ;)

  • xguricax You are full of shit. The wreck was simply a mistake of over reacting to the car. A wild over reaction and trying to get back on the pavment too quickly is what caused the rollover. I have been testing SUV's safty for 10 years now.

  • ok what caused the over reaction? the person just decided to swerve to avoid an imaginary object?

  • xGURICAx; Well, IF YOU TWIST this enough it will fall your way. However, no contact was made between vehicles. Emily Bowness, the driver of the SUV caused the rollover. Had I been driving the SUV, all that would have happened is the SUV goes into the grass, stays in grass for a few seconds (since there is NOTHING there to hit) then safely comeback on the road under full control. YOUR IMAGINARY object was secondary to the rollover..

  • PLUS aGURCIAx, DON'T misuse the word RETARD. Retarded is an unasked for condition that naturally happens to some UNFORTUNATE people. A very large difference from some one just being a DUMBASS, kinda like your post!!

  • Makes me glad I don't drive an SUV

  • Was the driver caught?

  • Really makes little difference if the driver of the car was caught. There was zero contact from the car to SUV, very hard to charge the driver for anything.

  • The problem was; she paniced when she went off in the median grass and immediately tried to swerve back over on the highway.. Most highway medians are decent (as this on is)She could have stayed in the grass for a few seconds then come back up on the road.

  • if that is real my name is santa.......and its not

  • lol idiot compact car learn to drive

  • And it was all caused by someone who wasn't payin' attention. Go figure.. Hit the brakes lady!

  • If she had Electronic Stability Control w/ Roll Stability Control maybe she could have kept it on the road a bit better.

  • go to hell ThrottlesUp i ddnt mean it i owne a range rover and its awsome

  • Stupid inexperienced woman freaked out when she was in the grass over compensated and rolled. SUVs are not safer then cars/wagons or some vans. They are big gas hogs and only experienced people should be allowed to drive them.

  • Learn to spell ... you can spell "European", even in spite of your room-temperature IQ.

  • its a terrible crash but did that car touch the suv??? And was the car driver caught?

  • yes and yes

  • If you can`t drive, you really shouldn`t. There`s something in the middle of the steering wheel called a horn, and something to the left of the wheel called turn signals. Now if you focus and really dig into your brain cells, you`ll realize that they are there for a reason. Good luck!

  • there wasnt any contact..i remember watching this on some show on spike TV, they interviewed the cop and she said there was never any contact..but the car on the right is still 100% to blame

  • Let's get this straight...SUV, meant to be driven off road...only 2 wheels on an improved surface (we're not talking the Rubicon Trail here)...and lady freaks out, spins steering wheel, rolls car. I've seen a sleepy driver get 2 wheels off, come to his senses, then gently pull back on the freeway w/out spazzing out like that (and yelled at him to pull over and get some rest).

  • That would roll any car... it was sliding at 90' to the road on the dirt, then hit pavement at high speed!

  • Again, for all who see this, I know the person who tried to merge, there was never at any point any contact with his car and the SUV, as was borne out in court and the police reports, the woman in the SUV just has no clue how to handle a vehicle.

  • I'm like 10 mins away from here. . I remember this on the news..lol infact this is our news station...

  • No, that's why cars need STUPIDITY control.

  • This is why cars and suv's need stability control.

  • She never gets clipped, you can see the space between the cars at :06. Possibly a tad bit of over-reaction, combine that with highway speeds, an SUV (high centre of gravity) and the fact that she hit the dirt and voila, rollover. Happens to the best of them.

  • Make that :06 to :08...

  • A TAD BIT of over-reaction? I'd hate to see what a lot of that would give us. Don't they tell U.S. drivers in Drivers' Ed to slow down and gently pull back onto the paved surface?

  • she did not over react.

  • best thing to do if you're forced off the road onto the median or shoulder is stay on the median or shoulder until you come to a complete stop and then merge back into traffic when safe

  • that suv might need to be buffed out and that should fix it

  • definitely freaked out a little too much when that car swerved at her

  • he clipped her a little when he did that. thats why she moved.

  • Nope, there was never any contact between the 2 cars.

  • whatever, you should study stuff before you make comments corrceting ppl. I know for a fact when ppl went over this accident his car bumped hers wich caused what police call the pit manuever to her suv. And that was it for her. In addition there was a bump on the edge wich all ended in a horrible wreck.

  • she overcorecting

  • She overreacted, oversteered, and overcorrected. The inflicting driver should've stopped, of course... but Emily surely could've had more control over her SUV.

Instead of sharply merging into the median shoulder, she should've kept straight, and let the sedan collide with her. Physically speaking, it would've been a minor 4 mph (lane-changing speed) sideswipe.

  • what you mean she over reacted? she didn't as if you look at the way it moves the road dips at the edge causing the truck to roll when she when't back onto the road, anyone could do it in any 4x4

  • "...the road dips at the edge causing the truck to roll..."

That's what I mean... she went off the entire slab of pavement; Overreaction. Shifting a mere foot to the left would've been an adequate response here.

  • don't forget the car hit her at the back corner, would have cause a effect simalar to the PIT move coppers do, even if she didn't go down that dip her would have rolled it, it all down to the center of cravity most SUV's have

  • "hit her at the back corner"

Oh, didn't realize that. I was simply judging by what the footage offers, and it seems there that it would've been a sideswipe.

  • yes it does, but i have seen this video in a some cop show who explained evey thing that had happened ;)

  • Well, the cop was wrong, he never hit her.

  • unreal

  • 2 b fair it did go in a ditch that triggerd the rollover.. i wudnt blame the vehicle. how wud u avoid that?

  • I have a 2005 Explorer however mine also has the AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control which in this case would have limited her over correcting actions. It can depower the engine and provide opposing force with the braking to correct the vehicle. It came from Volvo so I assume it works well. Still she lived through this. I think that says something about the safety of the vehicle.

  • Ford knows that its explorers are a little prone to taking a flip so they're well safety made.

  • It doesn't say anything about the safety of the vehicle...it just says how lucky she is. The roof never took a direct hit until it was almost stopped. Look at all the lawsuits Ford is fighting where the roof collapsed on the first roll. Those people (the majority of them) were UN-lucky. Ford Explorer roofs collapse frequently. Lots of fatalities, and non-fatal but permanent cranial and spinal injuries.

  • I might buy that on the first roll, but on roll #2 you can see that baby go ka-runch! and see thewindshild fold down.Lucky here noggin wasn't close to it. Front 1/2 of roof looks like a pancake at the end. Really weird how it rolls in the air almost until roll #5 and the roof finally takes another hit (kind of).

  • The person that cut off the roll over victim, just kept driving along, had no regard to the person live that they may have ended. Fortunitely the person in the roll over did NOT die.

  • maybe because the car happened to be rolling in his blind spot

  • Guys there is such a thing as a blind spot.

  • Which is why there's a little something called "CHECK YOUR BLIND SPOT BEFORE CHANGING LANES." What I wouldn't give for a little eye-rolling emoticon to insert here.

  • Comment removed

  • hey! i saw this on most shocking! the new series on Court TV

  • Vicious! Looks like an alligator got a hold of it!

  • NVM...I guess it is an Explorer. Still...the other guy...is a fking idiot!

  • I'm pretty sure thats an Expidition, not an Explorer. And that guy that didn't look to the left deserves to serve time. Fucking idiot needs to pay attention!

  • thats an explorer for you

  • thats an explorer for you
