HHH probably would've come up faster than The Rock but because of the MSG incident in 96, his push was delayed (because he took the brunt of the punishment). That's why there is a difference between Rock-Austin segments and Rock-HHH segments; there was genuine dislike between The Rock and HHH. I don't think it was faked.

Shawn Michael, Triple H, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall wrestled each other with Shawn Michaels and Scott Hall as faces and Kevin Nash and Triple H as heels. After the event, they broke kayfabe pretty much and all shared a hug in the center of the ring. It was caught on tape and got out. Breaking kayfabe is a bad. Not so big a deal now since everyone knows wrestling is fake but back then it was like committing murder

Vince McMahon is a businessman after all. So, that left all the punishment for Triple H. In a way, that's messed up but I guess someone had to take the fall. Triple H basically got a "demotion" and had to go back to working mid-card matches and stuff for a while.
