I had heard there were technical problems when they started on it, mainly Lennon's vocals. The Beatles version sounds pretty cool. It would have been great if the 3rd Anthology had a "fresh" new Beatles tune.

I think Paul, George and Ringo didn't release it simply because it's a melancholic song, and they wanted the Anthology to be really bright. That's why they made Real Love a little more poppy. George specifically didn't want to release Grow Old With Me because it would be too depressing after John's death to put out a song of him singing about growing old.

They didn't release grow old with me becasue it just was yet released by Yoko Ono after John's death. And Noe & Then becasue it had a noise in the recording of John's voice. Your point is false.

It was because George didn't want to do it because they would have to write new verses. Supposedly Paul and Ringo are working on it with a collection of Harrison guitar recordings.

The part about Growing old with me is true, that George did not want to do it because of those reasons, but also because if you hear the song, it is very touching and emotional. It would have been very difficult to do that song without crying.

@clockworkfiction3 . I imagine Grow old with me with just the 4 of them playing together. Geroge Martin made it a beautiful little Mozart aria. I belive in the end ,how many years passed now ? , Yoko laughing and mocking him about playing with the Beatles again. Knowing that he wrote songs such as this one . Knew if he got back with either the Beatles or he started touring again. He would have out grown her.

Okay,but does the version of Limewire you have make the results different ? Cause I have version 5, and I've searched for the song already but all results look like this "john lennon now and then" and I was told not to download those because those may have viruses. I was told only to download results that had the time and title of the song and artist in capitol letters. Did the one you get look like "john lennon now and then" ?

I have read that Paul and Ringo have completed this song, building on the work they did with George during the anthology years. Modern technology has meant that they can remove noise that they couldn't in 95/96. Olivia and Yoko are on board with releasing it, agreeing that George's at the time protestations on releasing it are no longer valid due to the new technologies. The song is rumored to be released to coincide with the Beatles Itunes launch, when Sony stop messing around. Great song.R.I.P

I just learned this song existed. It must be on a bootleg. It's almost like getting a new song. Some people didn't think he recorded between 1975-79. He just did raw demos at the Dakota when the urge to write came on, but was busy with young Sean, of course!
