  • Wasn't the "gh" in "knight" pronounced in a sort of "k" fashion? Just how much research does she bother to do before sallying forth to unveil her supposed intelligence before an audience mostly interested in her breasts?

  • This was interesting

  • i think she is russian

    beautifull girls there

  • Knite of good night and knice 2 dice...know knuting..hughmer^^*^^humor

  • HotForWords is correct.

Some others silent letter combinations include; the GH in "night" or "height". But there is also the case of special sounds, not just silent, i.e.: the GH in "laugh" or "cough"(sounds as "F"). But then there is also PH sounding as an "F" as in "Philosophy".

The reason, in my opinion, that the rules of the English language are so complex is that it is Germanic with Gaelic & Celtic mixed in, then Latin influenced it several times & 1/3 of the words are French.

  • KNOFFEL??

  • O_O my eyes.. its D... D ..D

  • Actually in the word "Knight" the silent "GH" was pronounced too. Refer to the french knights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "You and all you silly English "Kiii Niggits!!" Also, my college english professor explained it to me once.

Also sometimes southern slang for a knife is "Kinifee." My Drill Sergeant refered to his knife like that a few times. Just a fun fact.

  • giggle at 1:39 gave me a boner

  • Тоже супер... меня эта историю очень притягивает... может кнайф начать говорить )

    А Крейзи сама откуда?

  • Many of the English words that starts with kn comes from Norwegian. Knife comes from the Norwegian word kniv.

  • Knickerboker

  • knot!

  • The T is silent in the words Christendom and christened, but is audible in the word Christ...

  • There's gn- as in gnosticism, pronounced nosti-sizm; though, oddly, both g and n are spoken in the word agnostic.

  • think of "scissors"... what is actually pronounced? the "S" as if it were a soft "C" sorta, wouldn't you say?? my teacher in 11th grade and I would play around and actually say "Skizzers" when saying it - pronouncing it a little literally :)

  • so hot!!I love this video!!

  • Interesting video. I am fram from an expert in this subject, but since I am from Sweden I can tell you how the words mentioned are said in Scandinavia.

    knife - kniv

    knock - knacka

    knight - riddare, knekt(similar meaning)

In all of these words the "k" is indeed pronounced. Maybe the middle English should be recreated such as the Norwegians have done with their language.

  • Well, in Germany (with words like Knecht, Knoten, Knöchel, Knie etc.) wie speak the kn like Marina did in her video with "k(-)nife", but not how she pronounced the real German words (Knecht...).

So why did you pronounce those German words other than the English, Marina?
