either it's old school english or it's foreign (i.e. new zealand) riding, but i learned on a horse where u give a kick on the side that u want the horse to turn...like the horse is turning into your leg as a pivot...u'd kcik firther forward ...has anyone ever heard of this method of riding??
@rideonwater2 Thats wrong..the horse turns away from pressure....if you turn your horse and press your leg on the same side hes turning, hes going to move away from that leg and instead of going right lets say(and you have your leg on his right while turning him with the rein to the right), he's gonna go left. Its always opposite aids......you would turn the rein right and put your right leg on him if you wanted to side-pass for example...not to turn right.
is it just me or are those reins to long for english riding ??

In english, you pull your hand out to turn, if the horse is off the track, is green, or hasn't learnt to turn a corner yet...
