Zeenat Aman had a different and good dance movement compared to the other actress during those periods. As far as Western Dancing, Helen was the best then probably if any one who could occupy that slot is none other than Zeenat Aman. She also had a good sense in dressing.
Thanks to mr Dave Anand (Legend actor)for spotting a spot on talent Zeenat Aman on plane as she was an air host.He spooted potential and made her a star. Then i was born and thought she was sexy and still a fan lol. Well done! , thanks dave
The new Bollywood has found out the secret to more viewership via 70s legenadary icons Zeenat,Hema Dharmendra and others ....they are plugged in every news item , plots are taken frm their movies or messing with the original 70s songs...the new bollywood doesn't have a leg to stand on :)
Yes ,Janine ..plz let me know your review of VZ and SRK's perforamance after you watch the movie...You will find a nice unexpected surprise in the movie:)
Well I did'nt care for SRK till I saw him in DDLJ and was totally hooked on him after "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna"...In the earlier movies he was very raw and in need of a stylist..In Army ,Sri looks a bit older bc she is a tall gal and her character is that of a Lawyer so she really looks stronger than the guy.But as usual she expresses emotions of love, pain and frustration to the hilt..
It is impossible to recapture the '70s magic ever again. But legends like Zeenat ,Hema, Dharmendra and Amitabh can lend their wisdom and bring the lost essence of Hindi Cinema ...every movie these days looks like James Bond meets Miss India that is not the real India...plz make Hindi movies again..
Some of these'70s actors are so valuable to the industry...SRK is smart and huge admirer of '70s bollywood and Zeenat Aman is so knowlegable and experienced together they can turn around the industry one more time for the better .Once again she can be a great PRO for the whole industry..they need to bring in great writers and artistes...
I just think white looks so classy on a woman, especially on a sari. To me, sari is meant to be white. All the other colors just add that extra glamour and funky-ness to the look. White, in particular, brings out the purity (as stated previously) in a person. Raj Kapoor had great taste (even though personally, red is my ALL-TIME favorite color:))
Zeenat Aman was the most important pillar of Bollywood. Without her, Bollywood would not have been what it was. And now, look at what Bollywood is like without her. So many girls going naked and trashy scenes with no natural admiration or beauty.
It's funny you mentioned his admiration for white saris, most notably the color white in ANYTHING, because he always asked his heroines whether they would wear a white-colored sari JUST for him. He loved how simple the entire look would be, yet so heavenly, angel-like and would give the heroine a goddess-like feel.
Yes, I read the same, exact article about Mithun and Zeenat. Actresses wouldn't take a chance with him in a film because they said that he was way too dark in complection, which is ironic because look at where they are now and where he is. Karma is a very bad thing! Can get you in the end!
Nice to know Zeenat was kind enough to give a very talented actor a chance:)
Mandakini's character's name was Ganga, the same, EXACT name of the famous Ganges (Ganga)river in Gangotri; the river that was said to be so pure and so refreshing that one dip in it would erase people's sins. For her to be seen in underneath the waterfall was meant to show her pureness; in some sense, her true and clear self.
She had a scene in one of the songs where she was sitting on the rock underneath a waterfall in a white, wet, revealing sari. Instead of people talking about the EXTRAORDINARY theme and story behind the film, all they did (and still do) was talk about that small scene. I understand that it wasn't a norm back then to have actresses in revealing attire, but when you have a story such as that and the scene IS intended for a good cause (to go with it), then there shouldn't be any problems with it.
Not to steal Zeenat's limelight in this clip (but we always do:)), but, janingrigory, if you haven't seen "Ram Teri Ganga Maili" with Mandakini and RK's youngest song, Rajeev, then it's a must-watch. The film went through the same exact scandal and bad-mouthing the way "SSS" did before the release. Zeenat was of an older and more appropriate age than Mandakini (for she was 16), so she got double the talk and hatred.
The film was not only meant to show the difference between true love and lust (in some sense), but it was also meant to show the infatuation of a man over a woman's body. How the exterior figure always catches men's eyes first, before the true personality and the entire package do so.
This film touched on many topics, hence why I think this is Zeenat's best production of her career, without being biased to Raj Kapoor being the master-mind behind it.
Raj Kapoor ALWAYS incorporated the theme of inner beauty vs. outer in his films, one way or another. While his films were meant to be taken and understood in that perspective, most poeple would call him dirty-minded or too Westernized.
Yes, since Zeenat's face was hidden under the clothing most of the time, Shashi did fall in love with her even from afar, without even talking to her, hence why he was considered to have been in love with her "outer" beauty, as opposed to her "inner".
So true ,she was at the top and she did help many new stars and singers like Nazia Hassan..sorry for the delay in replying ,had to take my cat to the vet ...his leg was swollen..gave him some catnip to make him drowsy but he is full of energy and hopping on three legs ,catnip did some reverse action :)
Her eyes in this song can be compared with Omar Khayyam's poems(I am reading abt him on google) infact one can compare Raj Kapoor to the much misunderstood OM..
My aunt says it takes atleast 20 years to understand a RK movie...SSS is a movie about Raj Kapoor's personal beliefs which no one will ever know.. his inspiration for the movie was Lata Mangeshkar...sealed his decision..
I was thinking on the same lines when I put the song thru my moviemaker for Zeenat Amaan part-3...I had to watch the song frame by frame to catch her pics and avoid the dude in the scene...her eyes in the beginning of yasomati miaya song are so expressive- very shy but boldly singing and looking at him...
Diwanee2, as usual, you did a wonderful job with the tribute. Love the idea behind it and the fact that you used some of Zeenat's greatest videos. She is one of Bollywood's finest actressest and in my opinion, the most sensuous and ahead-of-her-time actress Bollywood EVER had. "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" is my favorite film of hers and she was just simply amazing as Roopa. To look and act so sexy and so confident with even a burned face like that just tells a million words:)
Usherred, thanks for your comments..these videos are made for the xtrem fans n stans of '70s Bollywood and to let ppl know that we are happily stuck there forever:)
That was the real music full of love ,compassion and all the good value ,not like the crap music making these days, they call music today.5 stars to the queen look"Zeenat Aman" and I wanna thank her for what she did during the 70s 80s,well done .thank you diwanee for this tribute to our queen ,she deserve more and more !you can make part 2,3 or whatever possible to keep our queen zeenat on the top.thankx again.
Thank you kindly my dear janingrigory. You were unfailingly correct about my adoring the clip. Zeenat still possesses that inner spark that always made her so lovable; something that could so easily have vanished amid all the shenanigans, but never did. Zeenat the star never sabotaged Zeenat the person, for that we must all remove our hats. Thank you diwanee2 & bombay63 for your marvellous effort & Ms janingrigory, you are a constant source of delight to Zeenat fans per se.:)
I also read that Dimple Kapadia stood by her thru the ordeal, she even arranged a press conference where Zeenat needed to clear few things that were circulating in the media...
I am glad you like it,Janingrigory.Zeenat Aman has alwys been my fav actress and style icon but I have new admiration for her after I read how she handled the mess. She did not run to any man(and believe me there are many with open arms for her)She got out of the mess on her own,got her sons back and said I have a home and my sons I dont need anything.
You're welcome, Janingrigory...it was fun putting together all the clips...made me cry when I saw Zeenat dancing in her yellow dress..second video should be ready within few days:)
"Zeenat:only actress that can look ethnic, exotic, modern, contemporary,& universal all at the same time!! She is the only one that can play a rustic village girl role like Satyam Shivam Sundaram, look the part doing a gypsy dance such as this number in Dharam Veer, but also a Western influenced role like Shalimar or The Great Gambler, or be the retro queen of Yaadon ki Barat. She has such a multi-dimensional look, energy,& aura. That's what makes her so special as an actress & so unique." Ms j.
