kind of addictive. It's hard to say whether we would have liked her in America or not. She could've promoted herself more by singing for the troops then in Vietnam, or for the troops in general.
Twinkle (Lynne Ripley) is one of the most underrated female singers ever. I remember seeing her at Wembley at the NME poll winners show and she was absolutely terrific but when you ask people about her the only song they ever remember is 'Terry'. Shame she has done a lot of fantastic songs, 'So Sad', 'Golden Lights' etc.
Every song on her CD was a classic. One of the most under-rated figures of Brit girl-pop. She delivered the goods BIG TIME, but the british invasion killed girl pop across the globe. At least her works live on. I love you Twinkle, & thanks for the hours of joy your work has brought me. Honestly... fond regards, Boyd
Really struggled to find Twinkle...SO glad I found this track. Was convinced she'd recorded this song but everyone said that it was only Skeeter Davis. Ha ha told 'em so !!!
This beautiful song was also sung by Helen Shapiro, Skeeter Davis and some other singers. I am a fan of Helen Shapiro. But Twinkle's version of this song is by far the best, in my taste. Perhaps, I heard and loved this version first. First impression is always different. On the other hand, this song made no#1 hit in Turkey, in 1966. I do not remember any success of the other versions anywhere.
The original was done by Skeeta Davis, twinkles version is the best, even later in 70's 80's other artists covered it none are as good as this version. Dr Of Pop
It may never have made it to the charts, but the amount of records sold then was considerable so she probably sold enough that would have given her a No1 today.

Just looking around youtube at old 60's pop songs and came across this. This is an incredible song! Thanks for uploading it and letting me see the delights of Twinkle. (my dad knew her and worked for her, hence why i know the name) :)
Unfortunately for her it failed to make it. Like you, I think it's a great song. Golden Lights, the follow up to 'Terry', was her only other hit record.

People also tend to overlook the fact that she wrote her own material also, a fantastic singer/songwriter.

Does anybody know what happened to Twinkle? She seems to have just disappeared.

Twinkle's really good. She wrote and sang such good songs at such a young age--I'm jealous :p

A gentle rendition of this standard number. Twinkle`s look/image was pure 1960`s.
I did, however, see her at a "Rock "N" Roll" show at Battersea Town Hall about 10 years ago.

What a lovely singer! Should be a household name instead of an obscure footnote in pop history.

Twinkle had so much passion in her delivery. It's such a shame she didn't get as big as she should have.

Das ist das schönste und leider auch traurigste Lied, was ich je gehört habe! Vielen Dank, dass Du das reingestellt hast!
