@peachdreaming Totally agree. Although Keira Knightly has matured into a good actress, at this point she just didn't have the depth to bring off a character as complicated as Lara.
Totally agree that the original was the best. I don't know whey would cast these 2 people in the lead roles. Thanks for posting this though because I didn't even realize they did a "remake" of this movie!
@WWPSdvia I completely disagree. For those who have read the book I think this is the superior. A lot of people obsess over the older version simply because it's a classic. In my opinion this version has two things on its side: the music is superb throughout (the original has some masterpieces but a lot of it just fills the background), most important is length; it just isn't possible to tell a Russian epic in a couple of hours. However, the casting and acting is far superior in the original.
@WWPSdvia one key point is that later remakes will often be better. I don't know if you are familiar with the sleeper curve but I believe that to a modern audience the pacing of the 2002 version will be more familiar.Though the original may have been better in its time this version will appeal to people more simply because it benefits from modern narrative techniques. Although the original can be appreciated the modern version will feel less foreign, benefitting from modern narrative techniques.
Who has the stupid idea to make a remake from the beautiful movie Dr Jivago ????????? I never heared of that but I feel that so idiot...

Does anyone else find these two unbearable in the lead roles? This scene feels far more like England than Russia.
