I'm with you on this one Z. I've been really lazy since I started getting back into retro gaming again (I'm almost 24), and I've been putting off beating games like StarTropics, Zelda II, Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania 1 & 3, Blaster Master, Faxanadu, and Legacy Of The Wizard. After seeing this, I vow that I WILL complete these games! I'm very close to beating Zelda II (on the final palace), Ninja Gaiden (really need to practice 6-2!), and the Castlevanias. I'll be putting off LOTW a little longer...

Sad "goodbyes" to games are the reason why Pokemon games are so great. After you beat the Pokemon League that doesn't mean you beat the game. You also have to accomplish actually "Catching Em' All" and even then you haven't beaten the game. You have to get to secret areas, get every single shiny, get secret berries, getting all Pokemon to lvl 100, etc. Same thing with other games like FFX and Fable. Those are the games that you don't beat, but you gradually get better at.

I hate all the ones from Symphony onwards because it totally departs from the old school style.

You missed the point that most gamers don't finish a game, because there is no time with all the other games. I still didn't beat Geras 2, some RPGs, GTA 4, LBP and other games, because there is always coming out more and with renting you can get many games with no money. And sometimes there are coming out 4-5 great games a month I want to play and if I don't have a long weekend without work I never going to finish them all.

Rondo of Blood was the last good Castlevania game, escpecially the way I liked it, OLD SCHOOL STYLE.

I liked SOTN but I could never ifnsih it either. My sense of direction sucks, so I kept getting lost in the caslte, and i found it boring when i ran into a monster i was able to beat it so easily.

I do feel sad that i can't even find the motivation to finish a lot of very good games, but sometimes i just wonder about the value of it all.

I can't beat most arcade games without at least giving myself unlimited lives.

For me, it's just not fun to get to a certain level, die 3-5 times and then have to start over, and over, and over, and over...

Get tired, make a mistake and an hour of progress goes down the drain. Screw that.

I do make it a point to finish virtually every FPS game I play though. Blood being the exception. I just couldn't deal with the primitive engine that thinks a wall 3 feet away is blocking your shot.

My achilles heel is Raiden and for you younger gamers out there it has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat (top down shooter). I could never get past (I think) the forth boss. The level I always die on is insane. To co-op a term from another review: it's like a flood of bullets throughout the entire level. Oh, and Goldeneye was another one! I could never beat that fucker Baron Samedi.

I never finished FF 4, the SNES version, it's just so awesome, I love replaying it without knowing it's end. I also never finished UGH!... that game has like 150 levels or more, it does have passwords for each level but, I get tired at level 60 or something after a few days, and then I never come back. but I one day shall finish these games! for I must complete my list :P I love my finished games list ^^

I only finished Dragon Warrior with the help of two things: Quick saves and fast-forwarding function. Hours were saved thanks to these emulator functions. The same with Final Fantasy 6. What would have been days of grinding characters became only a handful of hours.

A game I feel like will never be over for me is Final Fantasy VII. Why? Because of that frickin' perfect game challenge... You know how much time and work that takes?!

I was at the end of FF7 and sepiroth used his most powerful attack and YUFFIE of all people survived for some reason with 1 HP and sephiroth used break right after that and killed Yuffie....I never did beat FF7 after that.
