As big as the high dollar HiPo Chevy heads and the ports are big also. The heads on tat chevy in the video are way smaller in valve and port size. Chevy's 350-cc V8 featured a standard bore and stroke of 4.00 inches by 3.48 inches, Way smaller than the 400M which is Cleavland family.

One has a 347 "Cleavor" in a 66 half ton and the other guy runs a 68 half ton Ford truck with a pretty stout 351 Windsor with aluminum heads. Don't get too pissed, but I have beat both in the 1/4 mile. I run a 350 with Isky 280 Mega Cam, Holley 750 dbl pumper w/ old style RPM manifold w/ 2" spacer and more.
@67bowman In my truck I run Hooker "Super Comp", long tube headers 1 and 3/4" tube headers w/ full 2.5 inch mandrel bent exhaust and Dynomax mufflers, a 3.73 rear with welded spider gears and large M/T drag radials. I run a "built" tubo 350 tranny, ported and bowl blended "Topline Performance" heads with 2.02 and 1.60 valves, 3 angle valve job with a 30 degree "Back cut", 1.6 valves on the intakes and 1.55 on exhaust. No gasket matching on the intake manifold, it's not needed.

The chevy also has 8:5:1 comp. It also weighs about 1000lbs more than the Bronco. And these engines were built to pull and get somewhat good mileage, no performance in mind. Oh, by the way, it's 400 not 400M. Everyone gets it wrong including most every aftermarket company but in the case of the 351M/400 engines, only the 351M gets the M in the title. The 351 is a Modified version of the 400 hence the "M". Just because they are both in the same family doesn't mean they both are called "M's". I worked for Ford from 1978-86 and we never called the 400 a 400M just so you guys know.

400 engines were designed for high torque and low revvs for big cars like that. the 400 only put out like 180 hp but only at 2,200 rpm and with 310 pounds of torque.
hell i think you can just buy any typical ford on the street beat up and shit but i bet that engine is still very strong under the hood. bet any stock ford would beat that chevy..but im my opionion these trucks were both slow. my 1976 f-150 custom with a 390 would wreck that chevy.....thats just my opionion... the 390 wasn't in many trucks back in the day but its known to be very powerful

@390merc65 You can get an LS1 to push 500hp with just a cam and bolt ons. An LQ4 motor out of a chevy truck is the same design as an LS1 but has a cast iron block that can handle upwards of 1600hp with no modification. And for your info. The chevy 2 bolt mains are actually stronger because the webbing in the block is thicker. My first car was a 305 trans am, it had 220k on the stock motor with no cam problems. I wrapped that thing out to 6k all the time and it wouldnt skip a beat.
@TheEdrooney ask any chevy guy and he will tell you when the 305 first came out they needed cams replace at about 25k ..but not all of them ...maybe from 76/79..and if your car was in that year and you didnt buy it new,who is to say the cam wasnt changed ...and i was talking about the sbc ,,not an LS motor .if the 2 bolt mains were stronger then why did chevy go threw the effort and expense and tooling to make a 4bolt main???..to show off?

@zesty69boy 170hp?!? what was it a 6cyl why does it say its a 350 my 97 5.7 350ci silverado was over 300hp stock and after a chip and headers was over 350hp (never had dyno tho just guessing) I also have a stock 99 silverado 5.3 that is 315 hp (look it up stock hp of 5.3 if u dont believe me) so the 5.7 should be around that, considering its a bigger motor, but idk the actual hp a 5.7 had stock but its definatly not 170.

The chevy also has 8:5:1 comp. It also weighs about 1000lbs more than the Bronco. And these engines were built to pull and get somewhat good mileage, no performance in mind. Oh, by the way, it's 400 not 400M. Everyone gets it wrong including most every aftermarket company but in the case of the 351M/400 engines, only the 351M gets the M in the title. The 351 is a Modified version of the 400 hence the "M". Just because they are both in the same family doesn't mean they both are called "M's". I worked for Ford from 1978-86 and we never called the 400 a 400M just so you guys know.

@390merc65 You can get an LS1 to push 500hp with just a cam and bolt ons. An LQ4 motor out of a chevy truck is the same design as an LS1 but has a cast iron block that can handle upwards of 1600hp with no modification. And for your info. The chevy 2 bolt mains are actually stronger because the webbing in the block is thicker. My first car was a 305 trans am, it had 220k on the stock motor with no cam problems. I wrapped that thing out to 6k all the time and it wouldnt skip a beat.

@zesty69boy 170hp?!? what was it a 6cyl why does it say its a 350 my 97 5.7 350ci silverado was over 300hp stock and after a chip and headers was over 350hp (never had dyno tho just guessing) I also have a stock 99 silverado 5.3 that is 315 hp (look it up stock hp of 5.3 if u dont believe me) so the 5.7 should be around that, considering its a bigger motor, but idk the actual hp a 5.7 had stock but its definatly not 170.
