  • Thanks for the info. Before my shoulder pains I was doing sets of 10 with 150lb bumbells and my shoulders started to SCREAM.. didn't realize I was neglecting my rear delts

  • I've been doing rear-delt isolations ever since I've started lifting. But my fucking right shoulder is rolled forward. Should I hit my rear delts more than once a week to get them up to par?

Like when I do side dumbbell lateral raises front dumbbell raises and even the shoulder press machine, I hear one shoulder or the other make a small pop sound every rep or so.. Is that what you had happen also?

  • yep true video rite here i think pull ups hit your rear dealts pretty good but do reverse flys on your back and bi cep day hit them light with high reps and your good to go

  • This video is HUGE. I've been lifting for years and I never paid much attention to the rear delts. I figured I was hitting them enough with wide grip rows and shit. WRONG. The twins are dead on. You have to isolate the rear delts with the dumbbell reverse fly. NO ONE is talking about this shit. Respect to the twins for pointing out this very important, and often overlooked, muscle group.

  • Thanks guys for this video, it was very helpfull.. I was wondering why the FK my shoulders kept snapping off or w.e and why my left shoulder was starting to hurt.. I could hear some fked up cracking noises coming from it and it was scaring me every now and then.

  • This video is true. I have first hand experience with this. I had to see a physical therapist to resolve this issue. You can also do the rear delts with light dumbells on a swiss ball but you have to have good form. So yes I snapped some shit up and the pain traveled actually to the back of my neck and to the side of my head from my body being imbalanced with a strong chest and a weak back and delts. True video!

  • About four years ago I had this same problem. I never worked my rear delts and did bench press out the ass. I ended up with a dead limb. I was still able to do my bench presses, but for the other 23 hours a day I had my left arm hand tucked in my pocket to 1. stop me from using the arm due to the pain, and 2. to stop my arm from hanging down and adding more pain to the shoulder. Work your rear delts people.

  • If the bench uses your chest and Tris as well as your front delts, why would you need to do anything for rears except horizontal rowing? Just because it uses your biceps doesn't mean it doesn't work rear delts the same as bench does for triceps and front delts. o.O

    I still have some pain in my right shoulder and i'm working rear cable flies.

  • I got a great exercise for rear delts. Bent over flys. Be sure to invert your wrists though, so you bring your rears into it.

  • sound advice guys. i have some shoulder issues and never thought about doing rear delt raises. lateral raises aggravates the pain but i will try a few light sets of rear delts to try it

  • I think doing a rear fly on cables is probably the best one to isolate your rear delts. I've done them many different ways, but cables always seem to do the best. Just have your back horizontal and raise your arms directly to your side and not back towards your legs.

  • I have this problem as well, be to Physio, and been hitting back and shoulders like a mother fucker. it's getting better. can't lift heavy bench right now. was at 225 for 4 sets of 10-8 but now can't do more than 185... so this video just reassures everything my Chiro/Physio therapist says. Good fucking video!

  • Reverse cable flys are also excellent...I train rear delts at the beginning of my shoulder workouts for this reason. Works great

  • When I left heavy on the bench press, i super set into a seated bent over raises to prevent this problem.

  • You can hit the posterior deltoids pretty well with a barbell doing rear delt raises coupled with rear delt rows. Rear delt raise (exrxDOTnet/WeightExercises/De­ltoidPosterior/BBRearDeltRaise­DOThtml) and rear delt rows (exrxDOTnet/WeightExercises/De­ltoidPosterior/BBRearDeltRowDO­Thtml). For the rows, I use straps, which basically takes the forearms and biceps out of it, letting you concentrate on the raise instead of the grip.
