White Haitians practice voodoo as well, I love, love, love Voodoo. Once mom AND dad make up their mind to rock & roll I will be in Haiti shaking my ass. I love watching people practice voodoo, I love the songs I don’t understand much of what they are talking about, but the beat is ENOUGH TO MAKE ME WANT TO DANCE. My dad love voodoo, my brother and I love, love, voodoo (mom is a different story). Long live voodoo and all my ancestors’ vive L'AFRIQUE.
what you you talking about the white haitian are only catholics? Did you take a survey? I think there are some haitian they are catholics, but also practice voodou. Make sure you get the facts checked before making comments like that again. Please.thank you
it is said that "Haitians are 99% catholic and 100% voodoo" Having seen a catholic service in Port au Prince Cathedral one Sunday we find this statement plausible.
hey you know what man trhis shyt ain't cool u don't put yor fucken stupid comments on like that man i'm a fucken haitian and i sure in hell ain't a voodooist i'm also a christian but that don't cut it alright don't fucken put ur stupid assssssssssss shyt on here if they ain't true alright!!!!!!!
why shouldn't "white Haitians get invovled in voodoo"?? there Haitians aren't they, it doesnt matterr the color of there skin the point is there Haitian
A shaman is just a title used by White folks to pin down any foreign belief system including the native american, the 'politicaly' correct term would be PRIEST.
Why do yo assume the word is perjorative? From OED: n. A tribal magician credited with powers of healing, seeing the future and protection against the magic of others. Aren't these some of the reason Houngans ask the Loas to intervene on one's behalf? A good a word as any, esp. as the OED says primary deff. of Priest is Christian.
Its just that a houngan is a religiouse title brought upon oneself in a religiouse initiation, now since this is a rara band that is influenced by the makaya tradition, makaya bokors are basicaly considerd a magicians. Hey by the way I didnt mean to insult you its just that witch doctor brings about the image of a witch doing brujeria, even though technicaly its not the true meaning, but just go to haiti and call a houngan a witchdoctor he would probably be insulted.
therion131 is right there. Although the term "witch doctors" has come to be used widely by foreigners, Haitian houngans themselves are insulted when it's used not only because of the image it conjures up, but also it's a term associated with Wicca and sometimes used to mean evil or demean one's practice or religion. They do see themselves as priests and priestesses.
Good video anyway. I'm not sure "almost got us killed" was a joke. Did u misunderstand their anger?

as a manbo, i take offense to the word "witch doctor" because of the negative associations to it. i am a vodou priestess, not a witch doctor.
