I love watching people practice voodoo, I love the songs I don’t understand much of what they are talking about, but the beat is ENOUGH TO MAKE ME WANT TO DANCE. Why do yo assume the word is perjorative? From OED: n. A tribal magician credited with powers of healing, seeing the future and protection against the magic of others. Aren't these some of the reason Houngans ask the Loas to intervene on one's behalf? A good a word as any, esp. as the OED says primary deff. of Priest is Christian.

Its just that a houngan is a religiouse title brought upon oneself in a religiouse initiation, now since this is a rara band that is influenced by the makaya tradition, makaya bokors are basicaly considerd a magicians. Hey by the way I didnt mean to insult you its just that witch doctor brings about the image of a witch doing brujeria, even though technicaly its not the true meaning, but just go to haiti and call a houngan a witchdoctor he would probably be insulted.

Although the term "witch doctors" has come to be used widely by foreigners, Haitian houngans themselves are insulted when it's used not only because of the image it conjures up, but also it's a term associated with Wicca and sometimes used to mean evil or demean one's practice or religion. They do see themselves as priests and priestesses.

Good video anyway. I'm not sure "almost got us killed" was a joke. Did u misunderstand their anger?
