  • @HaloMasterA69 Why do you have a DJM-909 if your a novice DJ shit man I have a DJX750 and i'm only inbetween

  • Comment removed

  • If you got that, then...IS THE CAT!

    great tut, mate

  • <3

  • What is the name of this music?

  • do you have a video where you go all out and do all your techniques? I love your tutorials!

  • beautiful method mate, i just faffed about until i was getting it right :P

love what you say about the readouts, if your on vinyl your never gonna have that kind of thing - and unfortunately i lack the money for CDJs at this point :(

  • This was a great starter point...now if only I had a second turntable to work w/ I'd be set....having a setback trying to figure out where to start w/ 1 digital turntable and effects mixers....

  • Do you do the panning thing when you dj normaly?

  • I have a question , when I set my BPM even like 128.0

my cdj 350 plays the beat not on the same level ( not beat matched)

    what's the problem ?

  • @porsie1 is the tempo constant through the track? ive had similar problems where the tempo varies even very slightly through the track

  • love it mate

  • identical means the same tunes?

  • OMG i'd fail at bein a dj lol

  • thank you ( :

  • DUDE UR AWESOMEE :D

I dont got any gear yet but i am already watching ur vids..

    Ur awesome dude great tut's

But i got question i want to buy cdj-350 but then u got beat lock and beat things.. but thats kinda easy beat mixing so i also want to beat mix without that.. But Know here comes my silly question..

Beatmix is it always with he same song? And what is actually the idea about beat mixing? please help me out :D

  • good lord man how many turn tables do u have!?!

  • good tutorial... cheers man

  • Thx!

it's a great way of learning

  • Good tutorial. Just what i needed.

Keep up the good work :)

  • thx man ,, to bad my cd players aren't good they do not have a bpm counter

  • sometimes when i can hear a tele upstairs its a few mini seconds infront on the channel whats on down stairs if i have same channel on up stairs on down stairs, could that concept match this video in theory, one speaker on the left different speed to the right you will hear one tune further in then the other when it is the same tune?????? just to confirm im understanding this video to its full potential, i try to be an active listner lol

  • ...That's the Cat. Lmao

  • i am from Ukraine and im so grateful to you for your very undersandable videos

  • @12hohol omg same here :D

  • i am a total novice and i have no idea what you're talking about.

  • of course your a utter beginner in beat matching. but you need to know the definitions. you should see his first videos... dj tutorial beat mixing 1 something like that...

  • @mrplainclothesman hahaha

  • the cat is schratching ur records

  • thats the cat lol

  • Whats the cat doing?

  • cat is scratching the fav vinyl lol

  • thanks where dose it say what the toons are?

  • another great video, thankyou!

  • cheers alot. I asked a question on 1 of your other vids to see if i could basically cheat. Should've watched this vid first.

  • haha... 'thats the cat'

  • the best tutorials,from argentina!!!!

  • bro ur the man...thanks alot ur tutorials helped alot....cheers.

  • you have new turntables and mixer every time :S

    aren't they expensive?

  • wth do u mean by the sounds traveling from one speaker to the other if each track is playing from its own seperate speaker ....

  • does the DJM-800 have full EQ kill on all channels?

  • @stefanmplayer i have the same question do you know the answer yet?

  • @wellybootsteve

    yes i do,

have been working with it quite a lot recently

and the answer is NO: it doesn't have full EQ kills, however it Does have a 32 dB frequency cut. and i guess that is quite sufficient

  • Thx Man I Leaned Something New 2Day ^^

  • thats the cat...lol

  • maaaaan, u are verry good teacher ! gratz for the videos , they're awesome.

  • you are very good at explaining

i'm listening to your videos to help me beat mix

  • nice video posting its better watching you than listening to my friend keep posting ayt. . peace

  • You rock dude, I've been bored with most of the youtube video posters lately you're really good at explaining. Cheers.

  • You're a good teacher. You should do classes and teach and take money for it :)

  • Finally jus got this :) felt lost without my bpm counters but like he says ur ears are the best tool you have! Anyone else have problems distinguisin which track is goin faster, slower cuz sometimes I aint gotta clure wether to speed it up or slow it down :/

  • i felt the same way when i started out. youll get it with repetition and practice. i never thought id be able to do it, but it just takes time. best of luck!

  • i bet you've never heard of an "rca cable" then

you know, the red, white and yellow cables you use for newer audio and video equipment.

  • thanks LMAOoOO

  • sure its alright mixin the same tune but is there any videos jonathon does where he beatmixes with 2 different pieces of music ??????

  • "thats the cat"

  • Hey J!

I've got a question concerning this beatmatching technique.

What does it mean when the sound travels to one speaker to another? It keeps traveling and I barely keep it in the center.

    Thanks

  • "Beatmixing is so easy i started djing 1 day ago pratcied about 7 hours in total and i can beatmix now on nearly every song..."

sure dude you must be a prodigy then

  • if u dont believe check my mix its named "be the drill" it was done 3 days after i started mixing

  • lol have YOU listened to it?

  • psychology is so easy, i spent about 4 hours studying yesterday. i can tell ur full of shiet

  • Repost from another video in case this helps more :) :

I know I'm quite late on the wagon but here's a tip to those who don't have mixers with balance control: For your left CDJ, connect only the left channel (white) to your mixer and the opposite with the right one (red).

    - Love your vids, man! Although I've been doing this for 8 years there are always things to learn and things that surprise :)

    Cheers from Iceland,

    Ragnar.

  • how much did yo set cost?

    and i mean EVERYTHING here?

  • great method J! keep em coming!

Mega lolz at this 90shousetunes guy.

gotta be a guy taking the mic! its comedy genius!

    much love

  • Good Video I did this before u suggested and it helped a bunch so I know this method works keep up the good work

    Peace!

  • Tissue post in response to 90shousetunes last post.

  • are u sponsored? cause u tend to have alot of equipment?

  • J this is the best technique I have ever seen for the beginner. 100 stars!!

  • thanks djisfan, I thought of this many yrs ago and it still seems to be the best/easiest way to learn how to mix.

  • Great Vid Johnathan! It's a lot easier to practice this way then to have everything playing through both speakers, especially when you are using the same song!

  • Ok, yes I am a nobody.

But I have so many opinions, yes.

I have so many ideas of how House should be.

I am from the 90s generation, yes.

I havnt listened to House since 2002.

I did own two Technic SL 1200 from 95 too 2001. Sold them in 2001. :(

    Shoot me.

  • LOL!!!.........what was the comment you made earlier about "House is for life or nothing at all" how do you just stop listening to house in 2002. Or is it 90s House is for life or nothing at all. So you dont even own decks and your askin someone else to validate themselves to you? What is your accredidation to decide what house should be or what defines a dj or a teacher? Theres no definition thru Youtube on what content you can put on your space, the viewer decides to watch or not...DONT WATCH

  • Yeah, for me 90s House forever.

I dont own decks now. Sold mine in 2002.

I cant help but watch. Its like watching the early stages of the X-Factor too laugh at the talentless retards.

  • The world does not revolve around house, So The Dj tutor plays some house, Doesent mean hes wants to make love with it like you, A good dj plays and atleast knows alot of different music. Since you dont have ur decks (the whole world knows u sold em in 2002) Dont watch!

  • Look lets not get off topic here. Its relatively simple. I wanna see some of "tutors" flyers, oldmix tapes or names of places hes dj'd at.

I visit plenty of sites where ream house djs provide some info, some mixtapes, some flyers with name on, desciption of places and venues.

"tutor" fails to do this which leads me to beleive hes a man off the street that just happens to own a PC, tt's, videocamera and an internet connection.

  • Ok how about this (DJ tutor at an event): JhyrCpBGfvI (Thats the video ID so search for it) Hes there at the BPM show, And he has countless videos of great instruction... And he has all the equipment + Loads of giglogs of gigs he has done.

  • Well ok. I watched Donnington. He was a disaster. Much like my spelling :).

    Im disleksick. LMAO.

I dont watch his "mobile dj" vids. Im NOT interested in mobile DJs, only House DJs.

  • Ok ok, But the world doesent revolve around House, you said that he isnt a dj or someone with just a camera, I was proving that he is a real dj,A bloody good one, Atleast in helping ppl learn djing. Hes doing this for free and sharing his knowledge, giv him a break

  • So why does he have House vinyl. Only passionate people buy House vinyl. He then goes and destroys his cred with dodgy videos and mobile vlogs. Deary me.

    [crys into his soup]

(slurps yummy pea and ham sooouup)

  • Ellaskins: Subscribers: 11,196 Channel Views: 450,505 #19 - Most Subscribed (All Time) - Gurus #50 - Most Viewed (Today) - Gurus #42 - Most Viewed (This Week) - Gurus #61 - Most Viewed (This Month) - Gurus #24 - Most Viewed (All Time) - Gurus The numbers don't lie, are you saying 11,196 people are wrong? I think thats all the validation necessary now go away to your pedistal so the pigeons can peck your eyes out
  • Subscribers are people that have watched J's videos and choose to SUBSCRIBE which mean they would like to be given notice when a new tutorial is added so they can watch it....which yes does mean people think they are good you moron....once again you've proven what an idiot you are.

  • Ohh dear. Joined Nov 2006. And so far has contributed ZERO.

    Age: 36

    Country: United States

I wont be replying to you no more.

  • HMMMMM I don't see anything that you've contributed......I don't see anything on your channel. The only thing it seems you've offered is items that don't belong to you and and an opinion that everyone seems to think is shit.

  • maaaaaate, why're you wasting your time? J isn't going to post a video for you showing you old flyers etc, you need to do yourself a favour and accept that there are no real qualifications in dj'ing. you can pay over the odds at some studio like ssr in manchester for example, but all it's doing is speeding up a natural process anyway. just chill out and enjoy the videos..or if you can't, don't watch them! peace out

  • Cream Liverpool forever.

I went to it twice, in 96 and 97 \o/.

    Proper.

  • i went week in week out for donkets, buggedout, voodoo, chibuku now n again when ive got the dosh now..i understand where you're coming from with the house obsession matey, believe me! just think you should maybe leave this situation alone with J, ALL he's trying to do is help, not cement himself a career or some sort of glory, its just something to do which helps people!

  • Anyone need a tissue?

  • No dude, I eat faggots for tea! j

  • NO NO John, I meant djriotboi is a fagget, NOT YOU, youre a great man, djriotboi was saying lots of crap thats why I called HIM a fagget NOT YOU!! Cheers!

  • LOL,

     J smiles!!

  • did you even bother to look at the thread or did yah just jusmp into the middle and start callin names?

  • the person knows it

  • lol

  • jon love your vidz mate...if people cant comment constructivly,,,,then dont comment. it seems more and more people on utube do it,if you can do better show us all post a video responce,,so we can comment on your work.

  • Great.

    Simply great.

  • Heh silver is back, well nice to get some action again on the comments. Funny to compare english teacher and dj. English is knowledge, DJing is skill. You can learn skill on your own but you have to read to gain the knowledge. Following the idea none of the dads should not be allowed to teach their sons driving car what are their credits in driving a car? Hell are the instructors rally drivers? they should not be allowed to instruct either.

  • Good job man! You're a real teacher.

  • Good vid J, I need to work on that. So can anyone tell me the name of this track, sounds sick!

  • thanks form you video i use cdj to do my mixes but i recently try to mix on turntables and it alot harder to keep the beat on time i hopw ur tips will hepl me get better on turntables.

  • Cool vid J, I still like the one with the cars on the decks, gives a good visual of the effect pitch control plays..

  • I tried it with headphones, work as well

its like magic, you can actually feel the beats getting out of order :D

The sound went from the Right ear to the Left...

That means uh....that the Left CDJ is faster ?

  • some just do it as a hobby so no point in your comment really! dont like it? go somewhere else!

  • you dont need to of dj'd in a club to beable to mix my friend, the technicalities are something that can be taught by anyone proficient. how to work a dancefloor is a personal knowledge though, which takes practice on your own back. so you're criticising for the wrong reasons it would seem

  • You got it all wrong "90shousetunes". For sharing some information you don't need a HUGE resume or HUGE knowledge. You need the attitude, that's what J does best. He's sharing the path that lies behind him as a Dj, and there's no school or credentials for that. You don't like it? Go and find and someone else to share information with. As far as I'm concerned J has helped a lot of people with true and useful information and techniques, including me. Just look at J's Subscribers.

  • It's pretty simple mate, do better yourself or shut your piehole. Maybe YOU don't learn anything from his videos (because, of course, you are perfect), but hundreds of DJs have learned from him. I'll let you go, you obviously have a set to do at the local youth club.

From your poor spelling and grammar, you must not have learned anything from your English teacher either...

  • why u compare english teacher to dj???!?!?!?! t0553r

  • don't forget to shut the door on your way out. buh bye :)

  • Yeah, that´s a really good idea. Talk to people stuck in the 90´s in one old creepy basement with some "I hate everything" thinking. Get lost.

  • Have you looked into the fact that he has put countless videos of his gigs, or do you not have anything to do with yourself besides trash talk someone that takes his time trying to help people...........what do you have to offer the world other than negativity. Well I guess your comments make it well known what your gig is about trying to make others existence as miserable as your own, which is pretty common these day...........what a tool!

  • His "mobile" gigs. But mobile DJs dont beatmatch, as far as I know.

I have nothing to offer the world on YouTube, hence why I havnt bought a videoa camera.

Read my YouTube space, it says it all there. Im true to myself, unlike "dj tutor". Anyways, like I said any common man with a PC, internet connection and a video camera with limited knowledge can do this.

  • Mobile DJs do beatmatch. A lot of mobile DJs also work (or have worked in) in clubs.

What professional DJs don't do, however, is illegally share music online.

  • Im not asking about OTHER mobile DJs. Im asking about "tutor".

Sorry, im only talking to people from my culture, my land, my country.

This whole internet business be bugging.

I mean, in the 90s with no internet, when I went to work I only chatted to people from the UK. Why should it be any different online.

  • No, you said "mobile DJs don't beatmatch". You're wrong. They do beatmatch, as is evident in many videos across YouTube.

  • I dont think I have time to watch "many vides across YouTube".

But If you say so, I think I will believe you.

I see so many lines being blurred these days with DJs of all kinds.

  • Ok, your 46 from UK. Mobile DJs do these days. Deary me. Right, ok. Worked in clubs and now doing mobiles. How sad. House is for life or nothing at all. How does a club DJ stop doing House clubs?

Hahaha illegally. They dont? You havnt experienced SoulSeek. So were both ignorant.

  • Yes it is illegal. Hopefully someone in authority will see the information you so conveniently placed in your profile and come knocking on your door.

  • Deary me. Get an understanding and grasp of the real world. I have 12G of 90s House mp3s. Big deal. Im not some pirate web site hosting multiple amounts of music damaging the music industry. And so what.

  • Oo I see. Your the one with the video with "Tutor" at Donnington Park. Funny how "Tutor" dosnt have that in his vids. Funny that.

By morning "tutor" will have probably have blocked me.

  • That clip is in my vids because it's my footage. I filmed it. Funny that.

  • sorry to say but you dont know much then......he also say in the video its for beginners......are you a beginner? if not then this video is not ment for you! its an easy choice for you then turn it off and find a video that forfills you needs!

  • good video!!!

great help when it comes to beat mixing

i practise this often to keep my skills sharp..

  • i tend to use the jog wheel more than the pitch lever to get that phase-ing sound. i'll try to be more subltle with the pitch. great vid!

  • ur the man J. I too use a BCD3000 but its a bit rubbish.. soon as I can afford, am getting some CDJ's and a DJM. ur vids are very informative and easy to understand!

  • i also use BCD300, and its okey, but i want to buy 2 CDJs ;)

  • I liked the BCD at first, had it nearly 2 months now tho and the right jog wheel has stopped working and the loop buttons sometimes dont work. gotta go for Pioneer for good build quality I reckon.

  • I dont has pan :( neither do I has RCA cables I uses BCD3000. lol. Ah well. It did help me since I got 2 amplifiers xD

  • groove .......long live house

  • Good video... addition you can also do it by listening both on top of each other and manage to beatmatch, I find this one ear left one ear right style bit hard myself.

  • Ive done that as well when I first started, helped alot!
