the pistols weren't the first punk band, the first band to be called punk were the stooges, in a review they were insulted by being called "punk rock", its where the phrase comes from.

The Stooges, as many other punk predecessors such as the Mc5, The Fugs, The Holy Modal Rounders, were known as "freak out" bands, because they played raw electric folk. Punk was born from the Lower East Side of New York City, by anarchistic squatters. Punk just means inexperienced, or that you don't need any experience. Anyone can do it, and that's what makes it so remarkable.

i was 14 when crass were playing regular, in about 79, there was a small shop in hoe st walthamstow london E17 called small wonder records, this was originally the only place to get their records. i am not slating the punks of today but i was there 1st time, saw most bands of the era live. it was good fun..

Crass was regimented in style, but they weren't closed minded and didn't give people a hard time for not being anarchist, they merely looked down on the cowardice of people who supported their message but refused to act on their beliefs. However, they were happy to entertain regardless of their audience's political leanings.
But the Casualties suck. Any band that has the word "punk" or "punx" in the title of over half its songs is a joke.

Actually, world peace is possiable although far from now. There will always be wars but we can end some hopefully. Anarchism is way too radical for this world. It would be telling all governments to stop what they're doing and end it. It would be chaos with the people who rely and beleive strongly in the government. I think a global reform is much more realistic and we need it. Hopefully some one out there is listening...
