  • NOOOO Not to be a spelling Nazi, but this vid was perfect until the very end..."Vengence Rides a Train". That kind of jolted me out of the story (granted, it was at the end, but still...) You can't exactly reupload it either because you'd lose all its views. That must have hurt when you discovered that.

Great short film though. Thumbed up.

  • yeah!!! gr8 vid can't w8 2 pay 3 usd at the local theatre !!

  • The hammer wasn't pulled back on that gun...

  • 3:23 is just awesome cinematography!

  • I STOLE 480p

  • um not to be pushing any boundarys, but what is going on with the face?

  • caltrain!!! hell yeah lol

  • Amazing work. Can't wait to see more

  • Who knew Matisyahu was secretly a hitman.

  • holy fucking hell i want more time

  • i look forward to watching a full 2 hour version with some camera stabalization equipment watching this is like watching a trailer for a movie looks like it will be a good one nice drama music too

  • WTF is this! The banned Mastercard commercial was hilarious!!!!

  • WTF is this

  • thumb up if you came here from "the milk man" and you got THERE from the banned MasterCard commercial

  • All of those other train-riders are crazy! If I were about to board a train, and glanced over to see a dude with half his face painted in camouflage, I'd back the hell up and wait for the next train!

  • @rhapsodyswept I thought those markings were supposed to be bruises after they'd healed up a bit.

  • I noticed that... when he dies and when the hitman picks up the cellphone that he had in his hand, they are different. Little mistake there. But, overall, it's amazing.

  • thumbs up if this is the 2nd time a "mastercard" type commercial has brought you to a short film. good ones i might add!! (:

  • Took a while to get to the plot and it was kind of borring only at the beginnning. Just some constructive criticism but a great episode in all

  • This definitely inspires me! Looking forward to the next episode. Hopefully made with D90 as well to ensure consistent (or even better) quality.

  • Vengence lol

  • You should really learn how to load and shoot that gun - it might seem trivial, but those guns don't work like that.

  • This is awesome.

  • the guy that died said the same line like 20 times. his part could have used more thought into it. we understand to assume he is dead and that they were not close. no need to repeat it that many times

  • the guy that died said the same line like 20 times. his part could have used more thought into it. we understand to assume he is dead and that they were not close. no need to repeat it that many times

  • wow I dont know how I stumbled upon this video. What did I just see? Damn this movie got me to the edge of my seat. I love it.

  • the quality of the D90 makes this unwatchable. Even though it's a good camera, the video imo comes up short.

  • @xethotech but remember the d90 was the first dslr ever to have hd video recording...

  • hey thats caltrain the bay area train lol

  • BOOORING!

  • That crap backwards and forwards switching makes the video completely unwatchable.

  • This was excellent! I'm looking forward to the next episode! :-) I like the way it's filmed with the slightly shaky camera and in and out of focus shots. With all the special effects these days I find it more entertaining to watch something like this. My only slight criticism is the repeated dialogue. Who does you guys music?

  • the paint on the mans face-keeps switching sides....sorry i just wanted to point out..... or is that how its meant to be? as in like twin-and the markings on the opposite sides of the face?thats kool :-) x

  • the paint on the mans face-keeps switching sides....sorry i just wanted to point out. x

  • Dont really like the repeating of the sentences. I just dont feel the urgency for dramatizing like that.

  • YOUR A FUCKING RETARD

  • y didn't you use better video camera...? it's vibrate a lot... very dizzy to follow up... Lol

  • That was very, very well done. My only critique about the film-making is being a little cleaner cut with the focus and maybe investing in a steady cam. The shots, the ideas, everything else about the actual cinematography was amazing!

  • good film, GREAT marketing with the short "commercial" that got me here..."find out why" Priceless indeed.

Love the costuming, unsure why Vengeance has make-up or striped face...

One technical mistake, about time 5:52, the execution; the pistol is a 1911-style single-action 45 ACP, the pistol would not fire with the hammer down or uncocked, as shown in your film. Not a huge mistake, similar was done in McQueen's "getaway". At least your actor had the safety off! :) others have mentioned

  • okay now i'm stuck. should i get the panasonic gh1, or the nikon d90? >__>

  • Its a Mario hizze Cousin

  • you didn't cock your pistol

  • Great film man! Sometimes though the rolling shutter effect was really bad, but otherwise good work!

  • wait, are their twin brothers? one brother runs away, and the other hunts down the hitman for revenge? cuz i dont think i get this story

    great film!

  • is this like the milkman or something?

  • this is clearer than real life! wait wut.....

  • was really well done, one minor note, unless there was one in the chamber, the guy would have had to cocked the gun after reloading cause the slide was already forward.

  • @chainerd

well done incase you hadnt noticed someone has already stated that, in fact its the 2nd highest rated comment

  • ok...... wtf i was like lost the whole time there was a guy whispering and than a train with some people in it? can someone tell me what the hell was going on??

  • Wonderfully shot (pardon the pun)!

  • u live in palo alto!

  • Good job!

  • Lol it feels like a comedy for some reason...

  • 0:28 This Face looks like kratos, Unless he's balled, gray and with red paint on his eye

  • This was really good. I loved it, especially the cinematography. I just thought that the beginning had a tad bit too much of the blurring effect. It seems as though you guys started filming before the camera had time to focus. Apart from that this is really really good. Keep up the good work(:

  • That was incredible! The music was extremely well done, the cinematography was professional, I greatly enjoyed your work of art.

  • What lenses were used?

  • 58 peoples was canon fãs.

  • thats awesome.. so that i clip ads beside ur video for earn.

can me know what is the fucking song n soundtrack u?..

  • wow this is amazing nice work

  • Excellent cinematography.

  • i like the way he killed( i think) the guy who is about to enter his car.

  • Crazy bro... all i gotta say.. YOU'RE MATERIAL IS AWESOME... Keep up the good work..

  • the film all over ist really good but:

Its pretty shaky all the time and the hitman got to load the weapon (if its not a double action only Gun) and unlock it!

  • You deserve a subscription, a like, a thumbs up and a clap! Well done on this one ;)

  • Thought I was watching a Michael Mann production!

  • Suscribe.

  • make the whole movie omfg sooo sick

  • To my naked eye; Nikon's HD is way far better than that of Canon's; true cinematic feel! Impressive imagery!! I was considering a Canon 7D but; something was holding me back of owning the 7D, Nikon is worth the wait... Boy I'm so lucky!!!

  • really good,

but the problem besides the gun not sliding,

is the hitman not wearing gloves,

and not wiping the car down.

evidence would be all over in it.

linking him to at least 1 murder.

  • Okay, you got me...I watched the one you did about your great-grand father and now this one. You definitely have a distinct style. You have made a fan out of me. At first I thought that it might be headed toward the same story-line as "Strangers On a Train" but I'm glad I was wrong. REALLY awesome. I look forward to watching the next episode.

And just for the record, I noticed the same thing WreckShopDivision did.

  • i noticed that the facepaint is changed sides.. 4:20 and 4:31 :P

  • that´s one of the best short films I´ve ever seen. Brilliant music composition!

  • Vengeance Rides a "Rolling Shutter"

I wish Nikon would get their stuff together and put a 4th gen imager with no RS and 1080 24p -I want to use my Nikkors! BTW the gritty contrasty look looks seventies!

  • Wow dude, this was awesome! Thumbs up and subscribed :D

Maybe you should be a movie director for short films. I'll pay to see it :D Keep up the good work.

  • 1:50 lol at that guys face

  • Awesome video , I'm a photographer about to branch into film , but after seeing this film I'm truly inspired. Great film !!!!!

  • Dude i love this stuff. I wish i could subscribe like 40 times i love theses vids

  • did you guys use blanks in the guns?

  • @MrWilldog56 lol you idiot

  • @Impactfilms1337 well, it could have been animating for the gunshots, i was just curious! :3

  • WOW! When u maked it slow motion, like when u tooked the car, how much fps was used there?

  • WOW! Sick movie

  • yay! fixed the HD bug. You can now watch in HD again.

  • ok, the birthmark switched from one side of his face to the other.

  • What camera did you use to capture the slow motion footage? Or did you use some kind of software? please let me know :)

  • @ahnahoj

Notice that title :P Nikon D90, oh and it definitely shows since the Nikon D90 can't do a fast enough frame rate.

  • pretty cool.

  • deserves like 200 000 more views :)

  • great video and music --- coolness --- I just got my 7D today --- Im going to throw my 40d&50d in the garbage

  • I honestly REALLY love this, but one thing that killed it for me is that the Hitman didn't pull back the slide on the handgun(You need to pull the slide back to fire the first shot from a handgun).

Other than that, It's perfect, but just remember that on the next episodes.

  • @WreckShopDivision I was thinking about this, and you are right. But, he could have left the last round in the chamber, and switched mags for dramatic effect.

The real honest answer is that this is a very expensive modelgun from the 80's. It can fire cap blanks, and work just like the real model. I just didn't want Akira to scratch up the slide. lol

  • @eyepatchentertainmen True, you have a point about the dramatic effect; but dont you think it would've been MORE dramatic if it had shown him pulling the slide back slowly?

But yeah, you have a point about scratching it, LMAO.

  • @eyepatchentertainmen Any self respecting hitman would leave a round in at all times.

  • @eyepatchentertainmen

You are totally bang on with that comment, that's exactly how it goes down in real life and kudos to you or keeping that professional and not hollywood unrealism.

  • @WreckShopDivision A bullet could have been already chambered

  • @PixelKingz Yeah, but you neglect the fact that there is no reason to have the mag out of a handgun if there is a bullet in the chamber.

  • @WreckShopDivision Actually, most experienced shooters (and likely in a combat situation) would leave the last round in the tube when doing the mag change to avoid having to rack the slide, which does nothing but slow you down. I say this based on my personal experience in competitive handgun shooting - Only the worst/slowest shooters will run their gun dry from neglect or miscounting their shots.

  • @Boomachucka ..."Actually" the shooter wouldn't have to "rack the slide". When the last round is fired a safety mechanism engages and the slide stays locked in the open position. This makes it unnecessary to waste time by pulling back the slide to chamber the next round. The safety lock simply has to be switched down to allow the slide to to move back to its normal position after the fresh magazine is locked in place.

  • @thisisreallymylife I think I know how it works. It's still slower, I promise you. Think about the steps: Drop mag, insert mag... as opposed to drop mag, insert mag, drop slide lock. Not much of a difference, but enough that you won't see any professional shooter anywhere caught dead doing it if they have a choice. You obviously missed the entire point of my comment.

  • @WreckShopDivision I carry a Glock and keep a round in the chamber at all times. You don't need to cycle the slide to fire a semi-auto with a round in the chamber. I load one in the chamber and then insert a full magazine. The one thing a bad guy loves to hear is "click" when your pistol isn't ready to fire. I don't ever make that mistake!

  • @Elodea You have a strong point, my friend - but rarely does anyone seem to do that, which is why I didn't think of it at the time.

But then again, why have the mag out if you already have a bullet in the chamber? I mean, it gives of the illusion that you are out of ammo, but that's not THAT much of a life saver, you know what I mean?

  • @WreckShopDivision I agree that the slide will need to be operated to put a cartridge in the firing chamber, but since this was not done, one would assume he only verified that his weapon was already cocked and he was merely checking. A little late for checking but -- OK. Good drama

  • @WreckShopDivision maybe there's a stored bullet out there in the gun :)

  • gay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very nice... j have nikon d 90 :)

  • This was in-freakin'-credible! From the story-line to the use of light & shadow, color-correction and the gritty, edge-of-your-seat feeling I got, I found myself literally holding my breath a few times!

    Bravo!

Question: Where was this filmed? In the scene where the killer bumps into the guy on the street, I noticed his hoodie said Nor-Cal, and it looked like downtown Modesto or maybe "K" st., Sacramento? Just curious but if you ever need an extra, I'm more than willing to play a bit part.

    KIU!

  • Probably the coolest LOGO ever :D great job buddy

  • It's a shame most of the movie was out of focus.

  • Nikon D90 or Canon Rebel T2i / Eos 550d ???

  • it's awesome other than the cmos.

  • This Is Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • astounding, simply beyond my most remote expectations.

  • Nice

  • U SHOULD BE FAMOUS

  • 1:32 ROBIN THICKE!

  • its lame how pro all of your stuff is but most of it is sony vegas wtf

  • @swetrich stuff on yt gets edited in vegas. Stuff for TV and longer projects gets edited in Media Composer.

  • this was pretty fucking cool. keep up the great work yo.

  • What lenses did you use?

The focus on several occasions were horrible, even though the D90 don't support any kind of autofocus. You should've checked that, because it does throw a mediocre look over the movie. Colors, sound and editing was spotless, and your timing is excellent. You just gave me a whole new reason to actually use the recording function on the D3s!

Congrats with the work, and I'd still like to know what kind of lenses you used ;)

  • epic

  • awesome

  • its not hd. no option to change resolution.

  • Great movie! I just started making videos with the EOS 7D and your tutorials have been very helpful. I just noticed "The Milkman." Gonna have to watch that next.

  • WHY is everything out of focus? There isn't a single shot that is focused properly. Plus so much shaking. But lack of FOCUS is scary

  • WOW.. d90 can shoot footage like that.. WOW>.. insaneee... hah... wow.. nice diting.. different syle. it was refreshing. WHat were you using to edit. A side note. Watch your audio levels. try to keep vocals constant.. had to increase volume a few times.

  • great video, I like it! is magic bullet a software used only for color correction? I'm editing with corel video studio pro x2, but can't find a program for color correction that'll suit me.

btw check my music video made with d90!

  • i love the edward james olmos look from blade runner

  • wow, very well done!

  • where do you get the audio for your videos? Are they original or do you know a good website?

  • watch mine.. called it can only be love... its made with d90.. tell me wat u think peeps?

  • Nicely done and great D90 demo. Awesome editing and soundtrack.

  • thank you! unfotunately, youtube has a bug right now that wont let anyone view this video in HD. Were working on getting that fixed, because it looks much better in HD. thanks again for watching

  • I'm watching it in HD. And I just loved it. I'm watching for the third time. It's got such a feel to it... I love the textures that you got with shallow depth of field and this particular color correction. And the moderate use of speed ramp on the guy dressing up. And the mounting tension of it all, heightened by this fast-paced music.

By the way, what's the name of this music? I looked for it on Akira Wing's website, but could not find it. It reminds me of the theme from "Blade Runner".

  • Thank you :D I think the track you are looking for is rend rail express. I will check with him if he has it on itunes because I dont see it on his website. One of the tracks on his site, in this video is The Vengeance Supremacy

  • Mark, what frame rate did you use for most of the shots? 24fps? 30fps?

Oh, and please consider uploading this video on Vimeo. I'd really like to see it in HD. I thought I had watched it in HD, but I was mistaken. I just saw it on the bigger YouTube standard screen.

  • @felipetavares79 24fps for 90% of it. Video is on vimeo/3935400

  • the 7D actually shot clearer and sharper

  • Epic!

  • ok this is weird i dont get it at alllll !!!!!! it doesnt say anything that happend

  • Really great - wow...

  • how was there a bullet already in the chamber?

  • not a fan of the rolling shutter

  • what lens did you use? its very good!

  • wassup with your face???

  • how do you resize your vids :O

  • @Blitz4000 Oh, that might be true :) well it's looks pretty smooth here, I'm also a video maker and I know that everything below 30 fps gets pretty unsmooth, but this looks fine to me. And aslong as you dont have problems with other YouTube videos I'd recommed you to leave it the way it is :)

"Never change a running system" - Bill Gates

  • great sound n cinematography ..

  • The worst fucking short film I've ever seen, picture quality was great though, video was a tad laggy

  • D90 dont have autofokus! So its fake?

  • That was amazing... why is everyone arguing about the FPS and stuff, appreciate the video! That's an amazing short film and that was way past my expectations, great job!

  • why the video lags? is this really 24fps, more like 15fps

  • you got to have at least an Core2Duo Processor, to the computer read high quality and resolution.

  • @Fragoso12

I know the system requirements for HD playback. I would not comment on the framerate if I knew that my system is not up to the task. That is why i'm asking why the video lags. Could it be just the camera itself?

I have an Intel Quad core CPU, 3 gb ram and 2 GTX 280 GPU in SLI, I think that's more than enough power to playback HD video.

I noticed the framerate because i've seen 24fps videos shot with the canon 7d which is much more movie like & smoother compared to this video.

  • Well, i got p4 and 7600gt, i got no lag xD

  • @Fragoso12

I'm not referring to like a 2 second lag, it's more like a slower frame rate like 20fps. Where in this video, it says 24fps which is not what i'm seeing.

Compared to this video, the Canon 7D video is more like a true 24fps.

Try watching Canon 7D videos to see what I mean.

  • @Fragoso12 Or just buy a Mac.

  • The video is smooth, your computer is might be too low to play this

  • Ok, I have an Intel Quad core CPU, 3 gb ram and 2 GTX 280 GPU in SLI, I think that's more than enough power to playback HD video.

I got no problems with other HD videos here in youtube like the ones shot with canon 7d. It's much more 24fps than this video.

I'm not talking about one second lag if that's what is in your mind.

  • WHAT THE HELL thats an amazing camera, shut ya pie hole

  • pretty nice movie... nicely composed

  • that was actually really cool glad i stumbled on this video.

  • Wow, this is awesome footage...

  • I can tell you are on the San Francisco Penninsula, some of the locations look familiar... what city are you in?

  • Most of the streets were in Palo Alto

  • Nice ! maibe need stabilized.. but good work anyway

  • 720 or 1080???

    thanx

  • 720

  • what are you all talking about? It's a good little film but not because of the D90! It's crap for filming. They should never mix an DSLR camera witha friggin video camera. The film loks nice because of the editing, the music etc - all the things make you not notice the poor video quality of the D90. I have the D80 and it's a pretty good DSLR. If you want quality for moving image, buy a videocamera! (for about the tenth of the price as well!)

Can't you guys see the jerkyness of the film???

  • damn! shit looks amazing! seriously looking into a d90

  • damm what a weak skull seriously

  • The Movie looks cool....How much does this camera cost? Is it a camcorder or camera?

  • @papan1990

    It is a Nikon D90.

  • I Dunno bout cameras...tell its cost plz.....

  • @papan1990 About $1200 with 18-105mm VR AF-S lens.

  • Oh and what settings did you use to export/upload your film? I don't think I'm getting the full HD quality on my vid.

  • Hey this is a great film with the D90!

I was just curious though, how was the battery life when you did the shooting?

'Cause I have a D90 test film on my page, and when I was getting footage, I got about 30 mins. footage from a full charged battery.

  • IT was actually sooo cool

    love the editing done

  • am i glad i got the 7d!!!!

  • great short video. Hope there is more!
