You're a little mixed up with your statistics. Davey was 5th in the points after this race. 5 races later he was no longer in the top 20 in the points. You're probably thinking of another #28 Texaco Havoline driver, Ernie Irvan, who in 1994 was still 8th in the points race five races after a season ending injury.

@mecharr2 you're pobably right! i miss that old number 28! both drivers were pretty awesome! even dale earnhardt before he was killed said had davey lived he probably wouldn't have 7 championships because davey probably would have won a couple of them!

At the time who would have thought that would be the last time we saw him. Even if you don't like a driver (Although I don't know how you could not like Davey) you still appreciate what they do and don't want them to get hurt.
