No you don't have to use cottage cheese, you could use ricotta cheese. or if you do not like the little curds you can blend it up and then it will be smooth. But in a normal lasagna it is ricotta cheese or cottage cheese.
I actually have never heard of anyone do that before. I know of people rinsing off their chicken. So I didn't do it because I grew up doing it this way. How do you do it?
@r00hi1234 Oh we wash anything before we eat! lol i was raised that way specially wid red meat n we rinse it in water 3 times to get some of the fat out from the minced meat! it works, you actually see all the fat bits (white part of beef) come above the water when you rinse it in water! =) it looks really cool lol
How many points are in one sqaure size piece of this recipe? It looks so yummy and I want to make it hehe... I've been doing weight watcher's and its worked for me so well I've lost 50 pounds so far.. :D Love your videos
Thank you It is a great dish. Umm I'm not sure about the calories, I just went to a website and you can enter in the product and it will tell you your calories. But You don't need to use 2lbs. But get extra extra lean. That way you take out more fat.
WOW, that looks amazing girl! I am on week 2 of weight watchers and I am also a fairly new cooking wife lol so I am going to make this my 2nd dish EVER to cook homeade and I am sooo excited! I will let you know how it turns out! xoxo If you want to take a look at my channel I would love for you to =)
I forgot to add the corn haha but it was still awesome! family all loved it and will make again thanks so much!! also i cooked all my spices and onion when I browned the beef. YUMO!! also used whole wheat tortillas. Couldn't find the shredded FF nacho cheese so just uses a brick of low fat med chedder.
So this is a good weight watchers meal...? Im doing alot of the cooking in our house nowadays as we both work and my wife is trying to lose weight so im looking for some ideas.. This would help her? I thought lasagne was fatty..?
You can make anything into a weight watchers meal. All I did was take my normal recipe and trim it down. You can do that with anything. Its only 6points, so that isn't bad. But it does depend on how many points she has for the day. It's one of those meals that is a comfort food.
It could help her. but it all just depends on what is best for her right now. Sticking ot something stricked? Regular lasagna can be fatty, it really depends on your ingrediants. Good Luck.
this was SOOOOOOO good! I even added fresh cilantro to it right at the end. My husband LOVES this...he even said the the meat mixture would be great used on nachos as well. I highly recommend this...you'll LOVE it!
How easily can you cut through the tortilla's? Fork tender? I may try this for my super bowl party. Maybe use medium hot salsa. And what type cheese? A mexican or toco mix? Sounds good!
Yes it is fork tender. The top may not be depending on how long you let the cheese brown, the edges also get crunchy, but that is the best part. You can use whatever cheese you like acutally!!! Good luck with it!
That looks fantastic! I love that you respond to your questions..Have you ever tried wheat tortillas? are they nasty like I'm expecting them to be? lol
Thank you.. It's really delicious! You should try it.
I love answering everyone back. I think I do every single time.
You know, I think i've tried them once. I had it as a wrap. It was good. But if you are only trying to do it for point wise. you might want to check the stats; cal. fat. fiber. Sometimes they are the same. I know it is with Wheat pasta, and brown rice. Those are both just more filling than White. Sorry it's such a long answer back.
yum!!! I just had this for dinner tonight... but with a recepie i had. I wish i saw this before i made it, i never thought to use salsa in it. that sounds so much better then mine!
You don't like cottage cheese? why not? well in italian lasagna they use ricotta cheese, but if you don't even want to use that, go ahead and just use slices of mozzarella and that should make a nice layer..
Wow! I gotta try this one! Your recipe videos are awesome.. I had just discovered them before I went sailing for 2 months with my dad... I was unable to check Youtube the whole time..
And now I just can't wait to cook some of those recipes! They're so easy to make.. even though I don't have all the ingredients that are available in the US.. But.. that lasagna is a very good idea! :)
oh you're so sweet!! i hope you had a fun sailing trip!!! I hope you can make this!! its really good.. and simple. add whatever you'd like to it as well!.
Gah-lee, I'm gonna start referring to your recipe videos from now on, I love the food you make! Another great dinner idea...but I have to leave out the chili and the salsa because my kids won't eat it, haha
OK, I've been thinking about this recipe and I'm totally planning on making it soon. Do you think I could use a packet of Taco seasoning in place of the spices? I have taco seasoning on hand, but no cumin or chili powder.
Do the corn tortillas turn out like when they are used for enchiladas?
This recipe needs one more thing IMHO...a dollop of sour cream on my serving (not sure if that would be good on points, though...I'm pregnant, so I'm not thinking about the WW stuff),!!! Hee hee! Yummy!
First off what is IMHO? And yes you can use a taco packet.. they have the same spices in them, so go ahead and use that. and yes sourcream on it is great!!. not good with my points though!! but still really tasty!!.. I hope you like it.. you'll have to let me know how it turns out!. Oh and yes the tortillas will be the same. Good luck
omg that looks soooo delicious. I just bought a foodsaver and I'm looking for recipes that I can freeze the leftovers...I'm totally gonna make this!!!
You should look on craigslist if you really want one...I got mine for only $20 and it's the foodsaver brand (sells for $159 on the foodsaver website)!!!
Austin!! do you think I would even put something up and share it with you all!! if it didn't meet my approval!?!? c'mon!! jk.. yes its really good.. When I first read the recipe I thought "weird!!" but we tried it and my family is always requesting it!! YUM!!!
does it have to be cottage cheese, it looks delicious but i dont like cottage cheese . what else could i use

@bunny9585 yea i was thinking of using riccota
what kind of salsa did you use .
like chip kind or spicy
CrikaRika14 10 months ago
@CrikaRika14
It is Pace, just normal chip salsa, I bought a big bottle at Costco, cause you use a lot in this recipe. Also it isn't hot.

@bunny9585 i eard that sour cream is good to !?!

I'm a chef no one washes Ground meat.. You lightly rinse regular meat parts in cold water then marinade etc.

I tell you how much it is in the description box. It makes 8-10 slices that are either 6-7 points. All the food is listed with the amount of points.
Enjoy!

why cottage cheese and not sour cream?
tweetydmd 1 year ago
@tweetydmd
cottage cheese goes in regular pasta lasanga or ricota cheese.. And sour cream would just curdle and get yucky, also it is a condiment for the top.
bunny9585 1 year ago
that looks amazing. i think i'm going to make it - it looks awesome with two lbs. of meat. do you know how much it changes the calories with two lbs?
