But it was not called a Mercury Monarch, it was a seperate line till the 60's, it's along the lines of calling an Edsel a Ford Edsel, it's not incorrect, but it's not the right way either... but I was'nt arguing with you, I was agreeign with how crazy rare it is to see them!
Oh man, I love wagons more then anything, why is it in the JY? Can you save it? (btw, go to my page and click on the rat rod tow truck for a link to my cardomain, I have some funky junk there!)
Yeah but look - they are all 4 doors. Most collectors like the sporty 2 door hardtops and that is why they are wasting away. Nobody wants to sink money into a 4 door.
Nice 59 Monarchs they are very rare now I have a 57 Monarch all restored. It get lots of looks when I drive it. I picked a 57 parts car years ago and used the part I needed and sold it and is fully restored now in Alberta.
Its fascinating, cause these cars were actually built with style and quality,, unlike these plastic putt putts they put out nowadays,,,,,,no character in cars nowadays!
I am looking for locations of old cars from out west I am looking to buy cars I am planning a trip out west from Ontario. If anyone can help contact me please .Keep up with the good work
That's a '59 Dodge ( I don't know which model this particular one is). I'd love to get one of those, too. They have got one of the most unique front ends--it looks angry. Could you imagine one of these '59 Dodges being used to play the part of 'Christine'?
I used to hunt the fields of Alberta in the early 1990s as well.
Found a 1960 Meteor Starliner near Pincher Creek along with a '61 Monarch and a few '61 Meteors. Wound up putting a couple of those on the road for a few years.
Yeah...that's a pretty cool set up. and yes, someone lives there. I talked to the wife and she says that her husband is willing to sell some of these cars. I wish I knew where i put their phone number because this place is over 3 hours away from where i live.
These cars are in decent shape--for their age. There are quite a few others in poorer shape out there, but I've only shown you the best ones. The arid climate and storing these cars in a field rather than hiding them in a bush help keep the rust at bay.
wow man look at the merc in the carport!!!! A dream! Somebody should save her
