Very nice review. Details and highlights aside, did you go over the red/white parts with an additional coat of paint/top coat or does it look that way out of the box? By that I mean the parts which are entirely red/white such as the "ribs" and most of the leg armor.

Just chiming in a year or so late:

EVA units are AT LEAST 40m. A regular gundam is 18-22m. It isn't stated but theres a few good guesses out there by Eva Geeks.

It's estimated 80m at max, so far (in the rebuild versions). (Shoulders with about 10m above the head.)

EVA Units can fluctuate in size depending on the situation

Eh, i"m not too impressed. I'll stick with the robot damashii and revoltechs of Evangelion. If they get close to master grade quality, THEN I'll buy them. By the way, the soul of chogokin spec are suppossed to be the best Eva figures, so I'd say check them out.

Great review, before I watch your video, I didn't have any interest in evangelion model kits. Now, I see the appeal in it, but this model kit is a bit more expensive than the other ones.

my elder brother has the 1996 (i'm not sure if that kit was made in that year) knock-off 13th angel Bardiel model kit (the eva unit 3 with longer arms). it's really disappointing that the early evangelion model kits in a big scale doesn't have trigger finger hands for holding the guns and pistols. :(

I have heard rumers of unit 2 the beast being produced in testing stages...but I dont think it will happen, it would be incredibly difficult to produce it

@kenshinbattousai374 For a red one you just need to get the HG Rebuild Eva 00. For the grey one you get them in both old HG Eva 00/00' Kai kits, as well as Eva 02.

My only problem with this kit is the shoulder pylons, Bandai didn't resigned them to be more like the 2.22 movie. I've re-watched the part where all the Evas are running to catch the angel. The shoulder pylons don't move with the arms rotation, but are effectively stuck onto the clavicle, where the strap of a bag would rest if thrown over the shoulder. IMO Revoltech did a better job to fake this look and allow free arm movement. If you rotate the arm on the Bandai the entire up pylon moves to

Those rocket fruster shoulders actually looked better than I thought. I didn't have high expectations for those so it was good suprise that they were actually rather good.

I kinda miss the look of the TV ver Unit2. The double-mouth was supposed to be part of it's demon design as "The Beast with four eyes and two mouths".

A slightly wider shoulder would help with the articulation a lot and I also preferred the exacto prog-knife to the potato-peelers :P

I still like the new Eva and this model kit looks pretty awesome. That paintjob really helps sell it.

well in evangelion 2.0 eva unit 2's beserk mode doesn't have the head opening sequence that was shown in the series, hence its not in the new model I'm assuming
