from 3.35 it reminds me of the deep black abyss of an unknown part of the ocean thats goes down for miles upon miles not knowing what awaits you at the bottom and in the back of your mind wondering if you shall ever see the light of the sun again or wil you be trap in this dark abyss never to return and your fate never to be answered

@DerOberstKrieger You'd probably get really scared and lost for the end of part 2/beginning of part 3. But the climax in part 3, and the delicate ending of the song would be totally redeeming. Then you'd go outside, smoke a cigarette, and continue to trip for like 6 more hours.

Part two , I think of a submarine in battle kicking butt , each crash of Nicks cymbal is a sinking until we are hit. The propeller stops , the sub heads down near icebergs, heavy winds on the surface, and wildlife (daves guitar) as the sub fills with water we have minutes to get the engines going again or its all over. Down she goes.....Will we survive?

Well said mate... but when i listen to this i think of the vast ocean that never ends... i can barely see some disolving lights on the horizon... water and only water... i can see some rocks ... theres sand under me ... i can hardly see some fish flowing aside me... i try to speak to him but he can't hear me....

@Jurassicprince It truly was. The night was s oblack and the beach so dark (no moon that night) that I couldn't even see where I steped. I highly recommend you tu experience it someday. but not with this version (album version), do it with the Live at Pompeii, is way better.

Thanks, brother man. I feel that way when I hear San Tropez. I see a beach, coconut trees, sun setting on the horizon as I bask in it's glorious crimson glow. There's a very pretty lady standing before me, I reach out for her but she runs away. I chase after her, but eventually lose her. A very interesting daydream. :o
