GRID is the most awesome racing game I have played, it's not 100% a simulator, but fun factor is really high up there and the damage is awesome too.

But I really do like the driver head movement due to G force in the Shift game. Thats cool.

Grid steering and use of g-force is shit....the steering wheel manages to saty completely still even at high speeds....and it turning on the steering wheel is waay too fast....nfs shift...the steering wheel reacts to turns and slides alot better....and the cockpit view moves with acceleration brakes and gear change....NFS Shift for the win....[only advantage GRID has over SHIFT is the damage...which i absolutely love]....

Shift is the first racing game i played, where i was truly satisfied with car sounds. In grid (or any-other-racing) the cars all sound thesame... And you can't deny - engine sounds are very important for a racing game.

Grid has a better visual style along with better driving mechanics, gameplay, and atmosphere. If you think about it, Shift was inspired by Grid :p if EA actually let nfs games have more than just a year to get developed, they might actually turn out good like some of their other titles *cough* (Most Wanted)

I found Shift to be awful on PC with G25 - looks pretty but control is total arcade rubbish. Grid is also an arcadey title but at least I could configure it to feel somewhat sim like. They both look great and I realize the emphasis is on fun and the sensation of speed, but the Simbin titles and rFactor destroy these in sim/feel.

I have both NFS:Shift (360) and GRID (PC). I personally love Shift. But Grid is awesome too. Both are great. Grid gives you spectacular crashes. Nothing beats the awesomeness of the cockpit view in Shift.

I prefer GRID , SHIFT has very bad handling there's like a lag or something in the controls and it's very unpredictable, you just don't feel connected , GRID on the other hand reacts well there's no lag and the handling feels more realistic. I played them with a Logitech Driving force Fx wheel .

Before you ask I'm 21 and know how real cars feel, just saying

@YYuMax There is a ADJUST CONTROL settings in shift and as default the snsitivity is on 25%. And the deadzone usually is 33% so no wonder they feel laggy and in RACE games, the first thing most people will probarly do is going to the controls and adjust them. And because you said "lag or something" i guess you don't know why. Shift doesn't have really bad handling, unless you drive in a way that makes the car bump up into the air, because the physics suck.

@YYuMax GRID on the other hand lacks customization, which SHIFT has and the races gets too repetitive in grid. SHIFT got repetitiveness too, but the AI changes it when it tries to revenge you for spinning him out. What GRID has, is a very optimized physics and car control and nice lightning effects. But the AI just keeps racing like nothing happenes if you bump into it. Most racing games has an AI that makes all opponents drive in the same line, in shift they never do that.

@XenTheKiller I don't care much about the AI , if SHIFT would have made the handling better then I'd prefer it over GRID. Also my settings are 2% dead zone and 98% sensitivity (steering, brakes, throttle) . The car understeers as soon as I turn the wheel ( the car should have some initial grip even if I'm going too fast and then start to understeer ) . I just don't feel connected with the car as I do in other racing games .

I hope NFS will make another Hot Pursuit on mountain roads :D

@YYuMax Oh and i didnt really care about the ai either, but its a huge challange when you start a race with a narrow road and some cars get pushed out and they spin out, then you got to manuever (may be spelled wrong) through them. ANother example: In a turn, you bump your side into the opponent, making him slide off track......... next time he comes close to you, he either spins you out, push your back so your breaks will go to waste or revenge and do the same as you did ^^

@YYuMax yeah the driver aids mess it up sometimes, and btw, try setting the sensitivity of steering to 75%. Just a suggestion. For me at 90-100 it feels like it senses wrong, when i try to steer just a little in straights it seems to turn too much, and vice versa when i steer into corners it turns too little. At 75% it also seems to be much smoother and doesn't feel sticky and bumpy. Glad you got it fixed.

PS.: Shift physics: Too much speed in corner = Understeer or/then going off track

@rossi4656 Grid cannot possibly compete with NFS Shift. Grid doesn't support a clutch, NFS Shift does. Grid doesn't have a racing line, NFS does. Grid doesn't have G-force effect either. Presently Grid (PC) is $11 at Amazon which means it is obsolete. NFS is $30 now..... The Pagani isn't as accurate in Grid as it is in Shift either.

I have both titles and i Definitely say the i Prefer shift if you'll look above the way the steering wheel is used the one on the left(shift) takes the prize rather than the "digital" left or right on Grid. graphic wise i go for shift as well Im already using the Ultra_high(maxed on my SLI rig) mod for grid but still shift looks better. however the grid takes it home for midnight togue and as for me? I HAVE BOTH ^_^ so no need for me to pick which to buy

When it comes to authenticity, realism, I feel GRID hits the spot just right. I mean, i'm not the only who commit stupid mistakes in the race, I'm not the one who does some illegal passing, I'm not the one who takes the turn too fast or too slow. The game does a great job to make you feel like you're actually racing with other people. But when it comes to driving and driving physics, I feel Shift is way better. You can feel each cars weight, steering responsiveness, breaking and etc.

@ShinFuYux Shift also concentrated a lot on the car's handling when it came to aerodynamic; you can draft behind another car, the slicker the car is, the better it handles in higher speeds. While GRID ignores all of that and just limits you towards how powerful and how damaged the car is. I can drive a bugatti and drive a Nissan Skyline GTR and both of them handle the same at 150 mph, while you can see a clearer difference in both cars in Shift.

Nitpicking here but the track modelling in Shift is atrocious. Donington has alot of different elevations. Grid gets it pretty good but Shift makes Donington almost look like a flat track. And why do both games have such different enviroments around the tracks? Shift looks almost like a street course with all the stuff trackside while Grid is pretty bare.

NFS SHIFT isnt a simulator. When u driving RWD car with wheel, feels like its fwd or awd, you can press the accelerator pedal fully when you going through the corner and car slides just a little (everything off, pro mode). I was disappointed about shift, i tought its a good simulator, but its just other nfs with good graphics and bad physics. I dont understand why ea made a tuning mode in shift, its unnecessary, in is important driving, not graphics or tuning. GRID is more better all the ways.
