Guys, I gotta share this with you all. Last night I was at the Hardees' parking lot, and guess what I saw? I saw a cute little, tuxedo cat in pain come up to my foot asking for help. Its paw was injured. It was a feral cat, I think. My heart went out for it. So I took it and reported it to the humane society.
You're lucky! I had to bathe my cat and ended up with claw marks all over my arms! I didn't want to scare her, the poor thing, but I had to shampoo her! :[
Poor kitty! he took it a lot better than most cats would though! There was a cat I gave a bath once, I had to have a friend hold her down in there to keep her from leaping out of the tub, and she still scratched us both at least once! And while we had her locked down she screamed bloody murder! LOL She did NOT like water!!!!!
@ThatTankid Be cause he most likely had rolled around in something that he had no business being in. Also, they will stink if they're not bathed reguarly. Next, they didn't want him ingesting anything that could poison him. Finally, it's the only possible way to kill any fleas and ticks.
Aw,.. He looked up while he was in the bath and was just like "Help Me o^o" He's rather calm though. Me and my friend have to like barricade her cat into the bath tub to keep her there XD The poor baby thinks the water is going to kill her or something.
It's fine if the cat doesn't struggle, that may mean he's tolerating it. But if the cat is wide-eyed, hair bristling or shedding a lot, purring, shivering, peeing or pooping, those are signs that the cat is shocking. It's doesn't mean the cat is calm, it's means he's so stressed out he's frozen. Better to wash cats from as kittens so they're used to it, or not at all.
OMG MY CAT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE YOURS except its still a kitten... is that its breed? i cant make out what breed my cat is but i know it looks exactly like yours
makes me happy to see cats well-cared for by responsible, kind and caring people like yourself. Just wish there were more people like you in this world.
LOL!!!!! I played that video with my cat in the room just to see his reaction and he was mortified. He looked at me confused. He was tying to find where the meows were coming from and when I showed him the video he looked at me as if I was evil (he hates water)!!!
@omgzack53 Yep, it's a thing with all cats. Any change in the lighting will make their pupils contract or dilate. Sometimes emotion will too- like if they get spooked or they're feeling playful. When I play with my cat, I'll flinch like I'm going to chase her or something, and her pupils will dilate. It's kind of awesome to watch.
Why is it that Tuxedos are the cutest cats in the world to me? Must be my own little Jewel. She's feisty but at the same time is one of the sweetest and kindest cats I know.
Cat's carry a lot of skin dander and for people with allergies and asthma like myself and my kids bathing a cat is very good for that cats health and the families. It's a good rule of thumb to bath them especially when they have long fur. I've had my share of fiflty cats that cannot lick themselves clean and a bath is required.
Cats can clean themselves, but their tongues can't contact underneath the fur like water can. It's animal abuse and neglect if you don't bathe your cat from time to time, and letting a cat go years without a bath can run the risk of all kinds of SEVERE skin conditions, which can cause horrible pain to the cat. MUCH more pain than an annual bath would do. Only the BEST cat owners actually take care of their cats by helping their hygiene instead of ignoring it.
@QuietCannon Absolutely. During this time, my husband and I were doing home renovations so we had to keep our cats fur clean. We definitely don't bathe them constantly since they're indoor cats, but just once in a while. I do have mild allergies, so this helps me too. Otherwise I just brush out their loose fur.
@QuietCannon That's complete bullshit and I ask myself who told you that crap. I've been owning healthy, long-lived, vigorous cats for over 20 years and there was never any need to bathe them. Typical paranoid bullcrap and moronic animal anthropomorphisation.
@LOLPombaer "I didn't bathe my cats so no one else should and anyone who disagrees with me is a moron!"
Compelling argument. Though anyone with average knowledge in veterinary science will tell you that not bathing your cat will only increase the risk of compulsive licking, chewing, and scratching disorders which damages not only their coat but their skin as well.
But nothing legitimizes an argument quite like obscenities and insults rather than actual source or fact. Typical youtube troll.
@QuietCannon Yeah, there's also sourced facts about HIV and cancer medicine being useless, dangerous and only a means to rip people off. There's also sourced facts on UFO sightings. That's exactly the same kind of facts like the ones you rely on. Delusional.
@LOLPombaer Delusional is comparing facts to any unverified claims to legitimize your argument. This isn't Fox News. Just because you got lucky doesn't mean the risk isn't there, I've seen it happen to quite a few outdoor AND indoor cats due to poor care.
You continue to believe what you want to, not the proof in front of you. How much more delusional can you get? Don't be mad because you're too lazy to do some research. Can't even wash your cat once a year, so I wouldn't expect you to. <3
@QuietCannon Oh, yeah, "the proof", I like that. Nontheless: The less moronic and retarted (note the medical, not insulting use of these two, in collquial language, negative connoted terms) the owner, the less moronic and retarted the cat, and thus perfectly capable of keeping itself healthy and clean, through means nature provided it with.
@LOLPombaer 'Retarted' is not a medical term. 'Retarded' is, genius. Also, it's "Colloquial". Nice try with those big words though. If you're going to accuse anyone of being a retard, at least try not to sound like one in the process.

@webcamfan2569 What if your cat had fleas, ticks, or even poo, mud or something stuck on its fur? If you didn't bathe it then then that right there is animal cruelty. Letting a cat eat its own filth then getting sick is just wrong.
@1Meshy WELL MY CAT IS AN INDOOR CAT! PLUS ONE TIME MY OLD CAT GUS WE TRIED TO GIVE HIM A BATH BUT HE GOT SO ANGRY THE HE BIT MY DAD'S RIGHT THUMB! HE GOT A REALLY HUGE DEEP CUT ACROSS HIS THUMB! SO WE NEVER GAVE OUR CATS BATHS EVER AGAIN!
I think it's a good thing to bathe your cat regularly otherwise the smell from the litterbox and (being curious little creatures) whatever crap they step on will be all over you and your bed. Your cat is adorable I have two tuxedos they are the same in the shower but they always love you after =)
Cats don't need an immersion bath except in case of embedded dirt or debris that's otherwise impossible to get off and even then turn the faucet off before putting the cat in as the running water can be stressful. Dry shampoo or cornsilk powder would also help with a fine tooth flea comb along with brushing.
You are damn lucky to just have a whining cat when you bathe it. My cat would 1. Give me death glares 2. Scratch my arms so bad that I wouldn't be able to do anything and 3. Run so fast up her tree she'd be a blur.
Get a large wand massager and follow his bath with a nice massage. I have a Tux just like yours and a Tonk - they BOTH love it. Right down the spine. Watch the tail flip up when you get down to the hindquarters.
