I have raced 2 335i's with my 2010 GT500. It isn't even a fight, bimmer's are excellent cars but a 335 is a mid level sedan/coupe with 300ish HP from factory. I have 540...think about it. There is no contest. Different cars, different purposes, different strengths and weaknesses.

@2007ShelbyCobra That was definitely not 3rd...4th maybe. Down-shifting is your friend. Also just because something comes with TTs from the factory does not mean its fast. The BMWs 0-60 time is around 5.3 seconds...thats slow compared to the GT500. The Shelby should have wasted the Beamer....but the choice of 4th gear killed the race.

HPF M3 will also make your wallet alot lighter. The 335I is nothing to worry about for a modded Mustang. Not by a longshot. The new GT stock vs stock will destroy it all day.
I wish some people would take an engine class before they start talking about displacement. For example, I6 vs V8, but forget the car has 2 turbos and somewhere approx. 15 psi or 2 atmospheres doubles the displacement of the engine.

However if you you were saying, you compare a lightly modded 11 GT to a stock 07 GT500, both with slicks the time is pretty close. The GT500 weights a lot more, and had a terrible gear ratio in 07

They're both pretty close. around 55,000 each. depending on accesories. but the 335i is the luxery bmw car, its not made to be fast. thats what the m3,m5,and m6's are for :)
The 335i will all the options will run close to 55,000. You shouldn't be comparing these two cars since the 335i only has a 3.0 Liter inline 6 vs a 4.6 Liter V8. If you want to compare, you should compare it to a supercharged V8 M3 or a turbocharged V8 M3. Don't pick on smaller displacement cars!!!

@phv628 smaller displacement but lighter in weight and the 335i is a 3.0L twin turbo motor, with just a few mods they make quite a bit of power. If it's modded vs a GT500 it's a pretty fair fight. Also the M3 is not supercharged it is a NA high revving V8 with 400hp but only 300trq.
GT500 is running an iron block in a heavy car, may be a bigger motor but it really only makes up for the weight of the car. On the flip side you can make 800rwhp on the GT500, the 335 can't do that.
The car infront of the bmw wasn't even close to being a problem.This was a safe race not like they were weaving in and out of traffic less then 10 feet in front of cars.

here is the differeance, my GT500 has 22K on it and has never had one melt down, let's see how many M3's survive 3 months without some sort of issue that requires service? The reason BMW included a lot of service, is otherwise nobody would buy one anymore. I have had two 7 series BMW's and they were ridiculous. My Shleby is bullet proof, built for thrashing and is like a video game to drive. I love exotic cars and have owned porsches etc, and have a Mercedes S550 right now, shelby rocks!
I have an 07 GT500 and recently an M3 challenged me on a staight portion of highway 880 near Fremont, I blew him off the road and shut her down at 140. Like the typical BMW driver when I slowed down he continued at 100 mph plus winding through traffic and taking other peoples lifes into his own hands, what an idiot!

I wish some people would take an engine class before they start talking about displacement. For example, I6 vs V8, but forget the car has 2 turbos and somewhere approx. 15 psi or 2 atmospheres doubles the displacement of the engine.

I had a 99 GT auto that ran 10s on the bone stock longblock with a T-76 turbo system making less than 725hp. I destroyed several M3s even modded and got 23 mpg on the hwy. MM&FF did an article on me and my car in the 04/02 edition and it is online. The New 5.0 is an awesome machine. I have driven it and it is awesome.

@CroAuslander You are kidding right? A super snake with a twin turbo system would be pushing over 850hp...with high boost it'd be over the 1000hp mark. There's no way that your m3 would be faster than that. I own an 07 gt500 and the 08 m5 I just bought is just as fast as my stock gt500. There's no way without extensive mods that your m3 would be able to keep up with a TT Super Snake. You need to learn how to lie a bit better before you post crap.

Even the 5.0 will take a lot of mods, and then the GT500 just needs 2 grand for 550 rwhp, the new 5.0 will take a lot more than 2 grand. And with a 40k sticker, its no bargin. And yes, the 335 was sweating it, thats why he let off, and later said he was suprised how well it ran with his twin turbo bmw.

@2115will Its just new vs old, the same can be said for the 11 GT500, the best ive seen 100% STOCK with slicks on stock wheels 11.35. With a tune and bigs and littles like the Evo Performance GT,, maybe high 10's. The cars are about a 100 hp difference from the factory and perform that way. However if you you were saying, you compare a lightly modded 11 GT to a stock 07 GT500, both with slicks the time is pretty close. The GT500 weights a lot more, and had a terrible gear ratio in 07

He said it was twin turboed charged "I know some bimmers are TT stock", and it definately had exhaust. The GT500 isnt stock, so the 2nd run was pretty much going to be the outcome, even an M3 wouldnt keep up. I know plenty of people that say a modded 335i is as fast as an M3.

They're both pretty close. around 55,000 each. depending on accesories. but the 335i is the luxery bmw car, its not made to be fast. thats what the m3,m5,and m6's are for :)

The 335i will all the options will run close to 55,000. You shouldn't be comparing these two cars since the 335i only has a 3.0 Liter inline 6 vs a 4.6 Liter V8. If you want to compare, you should compare it to a supercharged V8 M3 or a turbocharged V8 M3. Don't pick on smaller displacement cars!!!

@phv628 smaller displacement but lighter in weight and the 335i is a 3.0L twin turbo motor, with just a few mods they make quite a bit of power. If it's modded vs a GT500 it's a pretty fair fight. Also the M3 is not supercharged it is a NA high revving V8 with 400hp but only 300trq.
GT500 is running an iron block in a heavy car, may be a bigger motor but it really only makes up for the weight of the car. On the flip side you can make 800rwhp on the GT500, the 335 can't do that.

here is the differeance, my GT500 has 22K on it and has never had one melt down, let's see how many M3's survive 3 months without some sort of issue that requires service? The reason BMW included a lot of service, is otherwise nobody would buy one anymore. I have had two 7 series BMW's and they were ridiculous. My Shleby is bullet proof, built for thrashing and is like a video game to drive. I love exotic cars and have owned porsches etc, and have a Mercedes S550 right now, shelby rocks!

I have an 07 GT500 and recently an M3 challenged me on a staight portion of highway 880 near Fremont, I blew him off the road and shut her down at 140. Like the typical BMW driver when I slowed down he continued at 100 mph plus winding through traffic and taking other peoples lifes into his own hands, what an idiot!
