@juki009 I'm sure they did before they started shooting video. One gun firing an adjust fire mission isn't the most exciting footage. Once an accurate location of the target is found that's is passed up to Regimental FDC and then the whole regiment is brought into the fire mission for the Regimental Fire For Effect.

54 M198's fire for effect DPICM each shell loaded with 88 armor/anti personnel grenades. I don't even think the cockroaches survived that impact area. I guess someone wanted something wiped off the face of earth.
hmmm i think my regiment runs.... a lot... lol lets see, im fifth battalion we have four batteries most have three, each battery usually runs six guns, you do the math.
M594 or RAP also has a rocket, however the rocket on the RAP only burns for (if I remember right) 7 seconds. Great video I remember this night well, something I will never forget.
Well, that was an impressive firemission. I was in the Corps in the early-mid 80's, motor T. Not much going on when I was in, other than Beriut. I think i hauled enough 155 ammo in one semi truckload once to support a fire mission like that in the Stumps
I'm latin and I know the damage that the jewish are doing to this country with the AIPAC that control the government and the hate organization know as the ADL.
@barbarotico Luckily, I think being an american means having 'advanced citizenship'. That means, even though I know your statement to be meritless, hate-filled drivel, I will not remove it. I hold the right of free speech too close to my heart.
@RgSchmitt Not at all. I in no way exaggerated the caliber of U.S. citizenship. I never stated it was the best (it's a manmade creation, and therefore has it's flaws) and I know it's better than, say, Myanmar citizenship.
@barbarotico Before you talk about american blood, pls check the bloodflow to your brain. I suspect you may still have the umbilical cord wraped around your neck...
I was a part of this fire mission. I was with Echo Battery 2/11 artillery. I was a motor transport poerator, but drove ammo and helped fire those rounds. What a blast!! It was amazing!
@weaponman321 get use to eating mre's always dirty in the field, smell like gunpowder and if you lucky to be in 29 palms always deployed and in the shit!!
@mocr562 yep, absolutely right...and get ready to get the shit trained out of you for artillery, only to go to Afghanistan and do patrols, check points, and post in some place in the middle of nowhere.
Okay so next week I go to pick my job for the Marines and to sign a date for boot camp. Can someone tell me if Artillery is a good idea, and how dangerous it is please?

@Cmartin40 If you wanna live in the field all the time and get yelled at for not knowing what the difference between an M549 and an M549A1 is and train like hell to go overseas and do nothing but watch people through your RCO emplacing IEDs on the route into your base and be able to do nothing about it, then sign up for arty. Otherwise, go be IPAC and enjoy the AC.
Awesome! I was part of that fire mission too. FDC Rhino Battery. R 5/10 attached to 11th Marines. Had to go by Rhino because 5/11 also has a Romeo Battery. They went by Renegade.

In a full artillery battery there are 6 cannons. In 3 batteries in a battatlion, including a HQ unit, that is 18 cannons. In a regiment there are 4 battalions. Could be around 72 cannons! We did many Regimental Fire Missions in Iraq 2003..Before then the last time, was Vietnam!
Man imagine a war between a country like China or Russian and the US.

WOW, that was AWESOME!!! ... I was in the first little skirmish DS/DS/DC in 90/91 ... Fox Btry 2/11 ... We didn't get to have that much fun unless you count the three unluckiest assholes in the Iraqi army down by the border of kuwait/saudi arabia. 2nd Battalion ... a battalion 3 with HE follow by a battalion 3 with WP! Nice fire afterwards! Ohh FUCKIN Raaaaa!!!
Wow I was there too.. My unit and I was Romeo 5/10, we were attached too 5/11 Marines in Iraq for the invasion from Feb-June 2003. I remember many nights like that. Our battalion 5/11 shot over 6600 arty rounds during the liberation of Iraq. Semper Fi.. Cpl 0811-2000-2004

two of the batteries from 2/11 was tied up at the "crossing." The first night Kilo and one other battery was the only one shooting for 3/5 and 1/5 the whole first night into the GOSP's Fox and Echo was so mad we also was shooting 3 g/b that day in April
That was on the outskirts of baghdad, but it was april of 2003. I was with E 2/11 on the far left flank near the road. We had been there since the afternoon. I remember because we were shooting 3 green bags while it was still light outside. It was not on the first night because we crossed the border with 2/5 the first night while everyone else crossed the next morning. Therefore, it would not have been the whole regiment if we were crossing the border, while this was happening.

I'm sorry USMC4LiFE it was on the outside of baghdad, I was there Kilo 3/12 was shooting just to the left of 2/11. We did not have a REGT fire mission the night of OIF.
I'm afraid you are mistaken, sir. The source that gave me this video was the 2887 LCpl attached to 1/11 and has stated this fire mission took place outside Baghdad - you can see the radar truck he was working at in the video (he was brushing his teeth while this was going on). Also, an interesting triva fact, this was the first time since Vietnam that the entire regiment fired all at once.
well sir that was my old battery, and i was there on the gunline shooting, and the one who took the video was the battery gunny, and this was the intial invasion, casue this was the only time the hole regiment was together, cause after we crossed each bn, had its own mission so we spilt up, 1/11 went straight up the center on hwy 1 into baghdad.
Hey IIIAmativeIII, nice clip bro. I was an artillery cannoneer to for the invasion back in 3/2003-6/2003. Brought back lots of memories. we were also attached to 5/11. Semper Fi Man!

May your brother recover quickly from his PTSD, and come back to living a life that he has truly earned the right to enjoy.

@IIIAmativeIII Definatley DPICM, M864 to be exact.
M594 or RAP also has a rocket, however the rocket on the RAP only burns for (if I remember right) 7 seconds. Great video I remember this night well, something I will never forget.

Ohh FUCKIN Raaaaa!!!

two of the batteries from 2/11 was tied up at the "crossing." The first night Kilo and one other battery was the only one shooting for 3/5 and 1/5 the whole first night into the GOSP's Fox and Echo was so mad we also was shooting 3 g/b that day in April

Yes, I know it was Apr '03 - I got f'd the intro up, but the date is correct in description up on the right.

I'm sorry USMC4LiFE it was on the outside of baghdad, I was there Kilo 3/12 was shooting just to the left of 2/11. We did not have a REGT fire mission the night of OIF.

this video was not from outside baghdad it was march 21st the night before we crossed the lod of the intial invasion of oif.
usmc4life79 4 years ago
I'm afraid you are mistaken, sir. The source that gave me this video was the 2887 LCpl attached to 1/11 and has stated this fire mission took place outside Baghdad - you can see the radar truck he was working at in the video (he was brushing his teeth while this was going on). Also, an interesting triva fact, this was the first time since Vietnam that the entire regiment fired all at once.
IIIAmativeIII 4 years ago
well sir that was my old battery, and i was there on the gunline shooting, and the one who took the video was the battery gunny, and this was the intial invasion, casue this was the only time the hole regiment was together, cause after we crossed each bn, had its own mission so we spilt up, 1/11 went straight up the center on hwy 1 into baghdad.
usmc4life79 4 years ago
we were firing into Baghdad, I remember it well. I went to gunline to help, DPICM
