thats what i call stressful flying! I prefer more quiet flights withoutlanding in trees! you should consider that! Why are you pulling the brakes like insane? because your french?
A) ( time sensitive) Initiate a full stall, on recovery the cravat would likely be gone (he had this option till about 0:50 )
B) Grab the outer-most lines, reel them in, then release.
In either case he should have flown away from the ridge as the wing was still about 60-70% inflated and he could have landed without pushing sticks and branches through his wing.
I don't know how to fly paragliders, and I really don't know what I'm talking about, but that looked to me like an expert landing of a damaged aircraft.
Instead of playing whith the brakes like that why don't you just take control by flying half of the wing and flying straignt and then see how to reopen if possible?
What I saw was just sensless pulling on the brakes...
@lotnik2207 Until the glider doesn't fall in auto-rotation, there's no reason to throw the reserve. In this case : slower vertical speed (about 3 meters/s here instead of 5 with the reserve), and ability to choose where to crash.
He is getting cravate and of the loop's i think and trying to open with most out of the ropes b line's.But only the problem is he is not working for stop the turnings...it should be dangerous reason for the flying close the mountain.but any way he is still alive and life is going on...
wtf was that all about,, looked like he was out of control the whole time, that was one of the wildest pg vids i have seen,,, could some body please explain wtf happened
What happened?? He never seemed in control of anything after the original loops and where was the reserve? Cfit.. Controlled flight into terrain, just calmly flew into trees...
It looked like he had a cravat after the loop collapse and couldn't get it out. He only had enough control to keep it straight with some right brake. If he tried any more it would go out of control again. You can see him try to use his stabilo to clear it and totally lose control. He's fighting to clear it from the moment he gets a collapse in the loops.
love that. boys who got all the knowledge and skills from the internet forums discussing what he should have done and how... try to type this guy's name into google...
well how about a proper explanation then about what went wrong and what he should've done, etc for us paraglider n00bs? Of course if you post a video on youtube you will get tons of "armchair" advice!
Good translation, I think the pilot did very well to not stall the good side...
I think he couldnt get his hands out of the brake toggles stopping him from throwing reserve or pulling lines to free the cravat, why not a full stall tho?
I'm not so sure about this. He had a small cravat, so what. Rather than concentrate on flying his wing to clearing, he spent all his time trying to clear the snag, and he ended up in the trees.
yes i agree... he had enough altitude to fly to a safe spot and wasnt spinning should have focus on the open side of the wing and weight shift... fly with the cravat and be safe... lucky him nothing happend at the end
this guy is a real pilot! I would have started crying and probably thrown my reserve before the cravatte. he has tried everything. respect to the man.
A paraglider with a source of thrust (motor) would allow this pilot to fly even in zero wind conditions, which is common at sunset. It's personal flight with very little risk, unless the pilot does dangerous maneuvers. The form of flight shown here is necessarily dangerous.

2 options in this case:
A) ( time sensitive) Initiate a full stall, on recovery the cravat would likely be gone (he had this option till about 0:50 )
B) Grab the outer-most lines, reel them in, then release.
In either case he should have flown away from the ridge as the wing was still about 60-70% inflated and he could have landed without pushing sticks and branches through his wing.

'parag' which means 'a foolish endeavor'
and 'Lidingus' which means 'to be smashed onto the ground from a great height'
