  • The way Marr trembles his guitar at the end, I think, complements Morrisseys sense of humor in this performance.

  • andy rourke's bassline is gnarly!

  • Thanks for sharing this gem!!!

  • 1: 35 POOF! And his shirt had turned into red.

  • you can see they were doomed.....bad vibes

  • why isnt this on rank

  • I wish I could dance like Morrissey...

  • amazing performance.

  • I never stop being amazed of how incredibly awesome The Smiths always were live.

  • this didnt make it on and yet vicar in a fucking tutu did!

  • The lyrics made me decide never to work for a boss anymore.

    Thanks for that !

  • i HATE HATE HATE Music Hall, and much as I love The Smiths, I will never be able to listen with less than mild distaste to Frankly Mr Shankly, Sheila, and Girlfriend In A Coma.

  • i agree with sheila and girlfriend in a coma but I don't think this is very music hallish.

  • @AndrewAnthonyHyde

i must say, i have this on a bootleg CD and it sounds fine! I'm a DJ & a huge Smiths/Morrissey fan, I've heard and have worse sounding copies of their tracks.

  • @ItTakesStrength

I guess I just hate the song and the musical style.

The Queen Is Dead would be an even better album with Unloveable on it instead of Frankly Mr Shankly.

  • @AndrewAnthonyHyde Wrong.

  • how this diden't make it to rank i have no idea! instead they put figgin vicar in a tutu and draize train on!

  • i LOVEEEE this! :D!!!

  • Thats called playing the bass. Yknow, not just following the chords like what you hear on mainstream rock these days.

  • Listen to that Bass!!

    Great musicians!

  • To think he sang this in front of his record company pres and was singing about him. That's the joke in this song were's my money Mr.shankely.

  • The way Moz delivers this version really highlights the humour of the lyrics.

I can't believe so many people don't notice his playful qualities and think that he's serious all the time! Excellent stuff!

  • I used to have this on VHS around 1990. At times it was a pain to watch it, because the recording quality was so bad. It looks much better on youtube and the sound is excellent!

  • Any idea if the complete recording (which "Rank" was not) of this performance was ever released as an album?

  • Its available on a bootleg called Was Marilyn Murdered..

  • @GambiniUK mmm. it's called "Dance With Octopuses"

  • @FranklyMisterShankly the qeen is dead 1986 the best albumof histor!!!

  • siempre es grandioso!!

    mil gracias gambini

  • Dude. This is gold!!!

    Thanks.

  • i totally love this song, but my one pet peeve, the lil instrumental jam at 41 seconds....i wish they did that a lil longer or again at the end of the song or faded out with it, its effin great
