I am soooo picky about how my glove feels I don't think I could ever order one online, I always try on MANY gloves until I find the one that feels right. This could be a problem because I wanna get a custom one soooo bad but I'm scared it just wouldn't feel right to me :/
I'm 11 and I play elite baseball in Canada and I have a Rawlings Gold Glove model right now. I'm not sure if I should stick with Rawlings because Rawlings has some nice gloves but yours look beutiful too. Could you just help me decide on what glove I should get if I buy one of yours. Model wise. Thank You
We just got a new A2000 Superskin (HG12BSS) and it is about as stiff as solid wood. What are your thoughts on dealers that use the new glove steamers? Is this Ok to try?
@winopenstage Steamers are kind of like horseradish – it’s great, but in very small doses. We prefer not to use them, and do it the old fashioned way, like Aso’s break-in video. Officially, we don’t recommend it. However, if you must use a shortcut, we wouldn’t leave any glove in there more than 30 seconds, and we wouldn’t put any glove that sells for less than $160 in there, as many of those leathers are already softened with chemicals in the tanning process.
@reaperrider1 This method will help break in your glove quickly, but won’t decrease the lifespan of the glove. Overall, it will be about the same unless you use too much oil or microwave your glove – then you will greatly decrease its lifespan.
@MrMackey2mhhkay Not sure why you're having trouble with the custom site, we haven't heard that complaint so far. Have you tried using a different browser? The main colors for that glove (even though it is an A2K and only A2000s are available for customizing) is White fingers/web, Black thumb/wrist and Red lacing. Let us know how yours comes out!
I am disappionted with the customize glove system on the site. I am a pitcher and I was looking forward to customize wilson glove. I wanted to custom made a wilson ball glove, with a modified trapeze web, put a pro sleeve and make it 12". don't get me wrong i love wilson glove, I just disappionted with the system.
@R0LFCOPT3R It can be a problem if there is too much water on the glove. Do not let it get inside the glove. Otherwise, no, pounding the glove will not damage it.
I do it only because I have been doing it for YEARS(Prob 12)Just feels comfortable. All about feeling good in the field. OH and I am a middle infielder...NOT and outfielder.
@egdumkcaz Most players prefer not to wear a batting glove when fielding so they have more “feel” when receiving the ball. However, we recommend doing whatever makes you feel most comfortable
@MrTerrero03 We will launch a custom Wilson glove website this December. You can choose the model you want and customize it with 16 color choices for all the parts of the glove. More info coming soon!
I've never been a believer in water, and I've been extremely strict with how I've always taken care of my glove. I've had so many idiots tell me to soak it in water, which is completely ignorant because water is what deteriorates leather.. But the hot water makes complete sense. 150 F??
@xFaLLeN28 Water that is hot to the touch out of the tap is appropriate – approximately 150 F. It’s also important after you dunk your glove that you shake out the excess water. This will allow the hot water to begin the break-in process without deteriorating the leather. Additionally, make sure to avoid using heat to dry the glove – allow it to air dry.
@wilsonballgloves Question 2, can you order a model (A2K 1796 or A2K BW39) with extra long lacing like the DP15? Or does it come with just normal length only?
At my local sporting goods store where they sell Wilson gloves they asked me if I wanted to steam my glove then like whack it with a mallet sorta thing is it ok.
@garr102 Don’t let them steam it for more than 60 seconds. Pounding the glove with a mallet is ok as long as it’s done by a professional, like Aso does in this video. The absolute best way to break in your glove is to play catch with it and use hot water like Aso so that the glove forms to your hand and allows you to make a good pocket for the ball.
@IAmMrFirefox Too much water will not only weigh your glove down, it could potentially cause long-term damage. Pouring a small amount of warm water on your glove to form it or break it in is fine, but be very careful to use it moderately.
@Gloverelacing you sound like an idiot. I dd this and my glove is still in great shape. Nobody listen to this fuck because he has no idea what he is talking about. All this does Is help break in your glove faster
@Gloverelacing Of course, we understand your concern with making sure the glove holds up over time. We would not recommend a break-in process if it put your glove in jeopardy. Aso is molding and forming the glove but not damaging it. The leather is very strong and the laces will hold up for years. The fact is that overuse of oil or conditioner will do more damage to your glove than a few minutes of pounding.
@sillyswagg1000 yup and Im playing third base I thought it would be hard using such a small glove at third but its not , I've improved my footwork alot so I think thats helped me . I hope I've helped :)
When Wilson launches there customization site in December, will you be able to customize the A2K series also? And Ive been hearing that if you call Wilson they can personalize your glove for you and put your name on it etc. Is this true?
@piratebaseball10 Initially, only the A2000 models will be available. All customization will be run through the site. You will have the option on our site to put your name on the glove.
@lucasmacrae This December, we will launch a customization site that will allow you to choose from 16 colors for your new glove! Only the A2000 models will be available at first, but this Phillips colorway will be a specific color combination that you can order on any A2000 model!

@egdumkcaz Wilson gloves are not pre-oiled, and if you use just about a cup of hot water and don’t allow it to get into the lining then you won’t have any problems.
@13bp4 there is a video by Wilson where aso (Wilsons glove guru ) they call him that where he breaks in Brandon Phillips a2k and when I get my a2000 I'm going to break it in like that

How often should I oil/condition my glove so the leather doesn't dry up? And what do u think I should use, Wilson glove conditioner or Wilson glove oil spray? Or should I use the nokona glove conditioner? Anyone?
@Silen7XSteal7h Wilson oils and conditioners should be used on Wilson gloves. We don’t recommend mixing brands, and don’t use them too often. Once just to break in the glove should be plenty!
Quick question... how much time does Aso put into breaking in gloves this way? I just bought a new a2000 at the Asg Fanfest and I'm gonna try this method tonight. I want it to be perfect so i would like to know how long to actually let the glove form to my had after applying water.

I love Wilson gloves but I had a complaint. I recently had a purchase a Wilson A2K Aso 12" and need help to break it in. I got some advice to add oil when this brand said not to use it. so After 1 week, I loved the glove and I doubled pinky into the glove. Lets me tell you my thumb has a mark from the glove and returned it 2 months ago. I try to call and get a new one or have it broken in but no one answered the phone. I can't tell you my thumb hurts still but I love Wilson. What should I do be
@HgOuTitar My friend is one of the bat boys for the dbacks. Kelly Johnson gave him his old glove then he gave it to me. Then it got stolen ha:/. It was the best glove i've ever had. So i guess they give them away??
So I guess breaking in a BRAND NEW Wilson A2K doesn't take 4-6 months like people be sayin because this guy broke it in with an hour. Same thing with Rawlings Pro perferreds and Nokona Bloodlines. People are so fuckin full of shit when it comes to breakin in a glove

So Wilson, what do major league players do with their old gloves after they replace them with a new one?

@HgOuTitar My friend is one of the bat boys for the dbacks. Kelly Johnson gave him his old glove then he gave it to me. Then it got stolen ha:/. It was the best glove i've ever had. So i guess they give them away??

So I guess breaking in a BRAND NEW Wilson A2K doesn't take 4-6 months like people be sayin because this guy broke it in with an hour. Same thing with Rawlings Pro perferreds and Nokona Bloodlines. People are so fuckin full of shit when it comes to breakin in a glove
