According to the Spanish Dictionary issued by the Real Academia de la Lengua Española, "jíbaro" is the Puerto Rican mountain folk of Spanish descent! I am 3rd generation PR from my mother's side and ALL my great-grandparents came to PR from Spain! ¡España, la Madre Patria!

That's what I always emphasize! I really dislike the fact that when people outside the island talk about PR they only see regaetton and the ghetto culture from the low classes. I am half PR but of pure Spanish descent and the cuatro is "ours", of the criollos.

People know of this music but what is wrong with Afro centric music bomba and plena to. There needs to be more inclusion of all Puerto Ricans whether Black, Indian or white. Wether the music is labeled criollo or Afro Boricua rythms. Alot of those mountaneers are not all Spaniard there is a significant amount who are costizos you know this.

I have no gripe with Puerto Rico European heritage because my family consist of people who migrated from Majorca and Germany. But I also have Taino and African heritage. Again I have no problem with people whose family migrated from Majorca, Corsica, Canary Islands, Lebanon, Southern Spain, Germany, France etc........ but there she be more inclusion of the other influences on Puerto Rican culture that being Taino and African.
