Guys could you please measure a minimal length of Maverick 88 Security 6-shots with Blackhawk KNOXX Spec Ops Stock? We have local law that doesn't allow shotgun shorter than 800mm. So I need to check before order the stock.
Well done! Very informative review. I too have a model 88 and I will order the butt stock (good salesmanship LOL), I have an extra slug barrel (for Mossberg 500 series), it really makes this shotgun a viable slugster out to 75-100 yards (5" group at 75 yards with premium slug rounds from Federal), I also have a 15 year old model 500, these things will last a long time with a little TLC. Again nice video, keep it up!
Is the sling the 1 1/4" wide model? I use my 88 for snake hunting and want to carry it on my shoulder but am wondering if the sling is too thin and may hurt my shoulder while carrying. I also dont wanna buy a thicker one because i think they look stupid on a home defense shotgun. I think im gonna buy this sling, give me your thoughts on it.
@mrmurdahlic the pistolgrip stock I have found online, I forgot what the website was called but you can search for it.. I ordered mines at $99, normally they're about $100.. im seeing some on amazon for exactly $99. The sling and sling adapters or stud, probably you can get at a big 5 or outdoors hunting store. I got mines at bass pro shops in Northern CA
@ThePorter1850 ohhh man... it was so damn hard... it's screwed on tight from the factory but I got it off.. I kinda had to sit on the receiver end and used a flathead screwdriver big enough.. hand was hurting from gripping hard..
@FrankDaTank1218 sorry for like a delayed reponse... but for a mossberg as you said I think the forend grips are easily changeable.. this what I have is a maverick made by the company..
@s0meGuyMarlyMar Mossber'gs used to, now any post-2005 m500 has that goddamned shitty one piece slide tube. I bought a choate pistol grip, was excited, only to find out I gotta buy a new slide tube because Mossberg went all cheapskate on us.
dude thank you so much i did not know maverick was made by mossberg and i thought maverick was a fly by night company like noble but now that i know i am buying a maverick
dude tank you so much i did not know maverick was made by mossberg and i thought maverick was a fly by night company like noble but now that i know i am buying a maverick
dude that was a rock on review. you actually anwsered about 3 questions i had about the 88 and now im off to the gun store to pick one up. thanks for your time sir...
@jelliot83 no problemo man... its a very nice budget shotgun made by mossberg.. you will love it.. merry belated christmas.. and have a happy new year!
if you want you can add a b square scope mount and get a laser boresight or use your BSA borearbor for 12 guage and use a scope with scope mounts that are elevated and walah.
Right now i have the 28 in barrel with the 6 shot magazine tube.could i buy an 18 1/2 in barrel and keep the 6 shot on it.Because i have no clue how to change the magazine tube.
@superCam25 its not meant to be changed over.. yet it is do-able to change the mag tube but it takes gunsmithing, being done by a gunsmith.. near impossible to do it yourself I think.. but I seen a guy's vid on here I believe with the same gun, if not a mossy 500 6 shot, that changed out the mag tube to an 8 shot capacity, and of course u need to get the barrel to go with it... its prolly a couple hundred or so for the mod..
@superCam25 as long as the barrel is not shorter then the magazine tube you should be fine it just has to line up. ive had a few shotguns in my time and thats all ive done. love my mossberg 500A and my Saiga 12 hope this helps
@superCam25 i had a buddy of mine that put a mossberg 590 magazine tube and 590 barrel on his maverick 88 with no problems so i am going to say yes i dont recall him having any problems fitting them.
@superCam25 i just removed my brother maverick 88 barrel and put my mossberg 500 barrel on it. it lines up just that it didnt have the same mag tube length so i dont think you'll have any issues as long as the maverick and mossberg are the same gauge hope this helps
yo cool vid bro, got a Mossberg Maverick 88 with a 24 inch barrel i think, but anyways i like the barrel how it is cuz when fired it keeps the pellets packed together ill show u a vid man pretty soon, hell of a gun bro, good huntin.
@Vendeta300 I look forward to getting a 24" barrel myself also.... and you can get different choke tubes for narrowing the pellet pattern also. That barrel is a must when it comes to clay shooting, which I might get into soon.
I have the same Spec-Ops stock on my mine. I would also like to upgrade the butt pad to a Limbsaver model. How did you know what model or size to get. If you could please state the Limbsaver model name/size/number, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
@kixxxter hi sorry for replying late.. been busy but I had the invoice but misplaced it.. but your best bet is to probably call the company itself, that's how I got mines. Simply call the blackhawk customer service hotline, they'll ask what model stock and what model shotgun.. and then place your order. Its been about a year so, they should have it I don't see why they wouldn't
@rlta04 Thanks! A shotgun is nice to have also. There's many brands, most often heard are Mossbergs and Remingtons, maybe Winchester. This Maverick 88 here I got works well with my budget (and invested in a $100 recoil reducing stock) and has dependability like a Mossberg, as far as I have researched. Haven't had no problems really but I haven't used it that much.
@s0meGuyMarlyMar A store near me has the maverick 88 security with the 18.5" inch barrel and the maverick 88 field model with the longer 28inch barrel wih a ventilated rib.they are both same other than the barrel. Both 12 gauge.I think I will get one but trying to decide which is better for me ,the longer barrel or the shorter security type barrel. i mostl likely would be replacing the stock with a pistol grip type also and few other things. Any suggestions?
Nice video man, not to put an emphasis on race but it's nice to see an imformed seemingly responsible black gun owner, Lord knows Rappers and thugs have done a good job of making that a rare sight.
One thing though, you should really keep your finger outside of the triger guard when you're handling your guns, even if you know it is unloaded. Again nice video and review, I'm actually thinking of assembling an almost identical loadout.
@oldannyboy37 Haha Thanks bro. I'm actually 1/4th black, white, native american.. the rest is Filipino, but ehh.. I can Iook black I guess. I'm not really a rapper or thug not completely LOL.
I do plan on re-doing this video with my finger outside the trigger guard. About the same recommendation was commented too a while back. Also need to record myself at the indoor range with this in action.
@s0meGuyMarlyMar Good idea man, haha Idk, not saying anyone who raps is a criminal but the media does tend to use them as an antigun symbol lol.
Another good idea for a video might be to give a demo of that Knoxx Stock, maybe even with slugs. There's not to many demos up on youtube so that'd probably get your channel even more attention if you want more subscribers.
@s0meGuyMarlyMar i got a pic on the page I do alot of hunting with mine but since its the off season i wont to Mod it out to home defense with the 18 1/2 in barrel, pistol grip butt stock, swival sling set, sites and etc.. trying to clear a room with that long 27in barrel will cause you to loose your life bra.
@joealonso89 in other words having the shotgun loaded, with one shell in the chamber? No not at all will it mess up the shotgun. But safety wise if its going to be loaded, safety should be on, and kept in a place only accessible by you..... or just ask a local gunshop owner..
@BadAssPie1996 I wouldn't be able to tell but it depends on your preference. A folding stock is good as it makes it compact and easier to manuever of some sort.
I'm not sure what you mean by bull stack or stander but I like a collapsable stock like mines so you have the end of the stock against your shoulder area for sharper aiming I guess
it seems like nobody really buys the 28'' barrel mavericks. but yea i love my maverick, only thing i don't really like is the forearm wiggles a shit load and it's made of plastic
Yeah I see what you mean i think its the slide action bars though. I think you would have to change out not only the forearm but also the slide action bars because they're attached to it.. you really cannot change the forearms out to my knowledge.. but im thinkin 28" barrels if I ever decide on trap skeet shooting later on..
google blackhawk.. but anyway this is the model SpecOps Blackhawk Stock with a dual recoil compensating system. Takes 85% off the recoil and it works good for me so far plus the limbsaver buttpad (which is sold separate)
I actually think its 15-20, and at the time it was only orderable thru blackhawk but now they can be easily found but I think some are $22 at some websites. google limbsaver butt pad specops.
one thing I gotta tell you.. its hard as hell removing the existing stock you have.. you need to place the gun like.. on a vice or something or get someone to hold the gun by the receiver, and then to unscrew it..
@EdnaSweetlove Another defenseless person from the UK. Shut the Fuck UP! What are you going to do if someone breaks in your house and tries to harm you or someone you care for? Suck his D$%K?
How about living in a civilized country instead of an ugly violent shithouse full of moronic psychotics who think it's OK to point lethal weapons at each other? Or how about having a police force who is properly trained instead of being a load of violent criminals? Or how about learning a few manners yourself?
Since we don't live in that type of fantasy world,I choose to protect my life and the lives of my family. Self defense is a God given right of every person on the planet.
I can assure you that I have never killed another person for fun or for any other reason. All of us don't go around waving guns in each others faces. Stop believing everything you read and see on the news. My firearms are for self defense and target shooting. If a life and death situation presents itself , I will defend myself.
Hitler? Slavery? Are you nuts? The Swiss only need guns to protect their cheese. Also who respects the Swiss? No one. At least they aren't as violent as the yanks, nor do they have the same murder, poverty or rape rates. Nor race hatred.
Your a delusional idiot! Im glad you cant own any guns, you're extreamly simple-minded.
And you have no sense of history. Guess what Im African, Irish, and Native American. What do those groups all have in common? The filthy British killed, raped, and brutalized all of them.
Not sanctimonious. And what has our past unpleasant history bgot to do with civil society? There is no such thing as a responsible gun owner. You simply don't need one. Even a yank should be able to work that one out.
Whoa now guys calm down... LOL just got time to read comments, but just to clarify it cannot be any someone allowed to own a dangerous weapon in legal terms; in America there's the 2nd amendment (2nd right?) for the right to bear arms. Well in California in America where I am (and some laws, just are harsh but that's the golden state for you) you have to be 18+ for a long gun, 21+ for a short handgun, and free of criminal background, AND wait 10 days after you pay to pick it up.
So then the gun is registered in your name. If you have a criminal background, other than just speeding tickets I think, then you can't buy one legally and not allowed. But there are illegal ways buying guns, like off the street unregistered or that are registered stolen but that's unlawful right there and huge fine/prison time if you're caught.
Nice vid, just wondering, Did you change the pump on your mav88? I got one 3 years ago but the stock pump has a smooth grip with a groove down the length (no ridges).
Hey thanks. But no I haven't changed the pump, and I think you can't unless maybe though gunsmithing. But this one's all original. I purchased this last summer.
also far as the 500 vs 88 go,i prefer the 88 its seems to have a better stock from the factory,my 500A i have to keep a pistol grip on it becuz the factory stock is very thin and comes loose when shooting, the maverick stock is tough as nails and stays tight, btw i have 6000-7000(cant remember) rounds threw an old maverick 88 without a hiccup i dont shoot it anymore(gave away)
the only shotgun i feel is a better bang for the buck is a benelli nova hd,price round $300 and carrys the benelli quality, that maverick will outlive you lol and i happen to know 2 cops who use them, because they dont plan on using optics(on a 12 gauge unecessary)or putting a pistol grip forearm, and if they do want a tactical forearm alot of companys make accesories for the maverick 88(forearms for a maverick wont fit a 500)
hey man dont sell yourself short, really nothing mossberg is considered beginner atleast from a 12 gauge, the mossberg and the maverick are the same,is there a quality differnce between them no,cosmetics yes but thats it,if you want specifics checwith mossberg they are both u.s made btw,if you want something nicer than an 870 try a hawk 98,much better made than an 870 express hd(8 shot),and has really nice ghost rings with a price round $250.
these shotguns are high quality and very durable.i guarantee the people who say u should have gone with a 500 wud then say you shouldve gotten an 870 after you review the 500 and a benelli nova after you review the 870.just like if you buy a glock you shouldve bought an m&p and after the m&p review you shouldve bought an xdm it never stops.
Yes bro I agree with you on here, as it keeps going up and up the ladder for a better, more expensive brand after the next. Benellis are like the "Dolce & Gabbana" of shotguns LOL I think. But it's tailoring to your budget and needs (or wants?) and not theirs but they do get you thinking sometimes and it is somewhat advice they give. This is just a beginner shotgun though for me.
But as a matter of fact I plan to maybe get an Remington 870 8-shot capacity in the near future.
i got the 88 maverick..just picked it up a week ago. i have the top folding ATI stock and pistol grip. LOVE IT. anyone recommend a different front sight for it? i dont care for the little brass dot
I went the cheap route and picked up a heat shield/ghost ring combo a while back. It was a pain in the butt to align- I used the bead to help, then crimped down HARD after fitting the screws- but it works short range- or if youre using slugs- its fairly accurate there too
HEHEHE, You're alright brother... Dont listen to all these folks sayin that your shotgun is cheap. It doesn't matter what you got, as long as it works and you're efficent with it. The man feared most is the one with ducktape holding his rifles grip on..!!! Thats an old Special Forces saying. We all learn to shoot iron sights before any optics are applied in training. Thats not a bad shotgun at all. Nice vid bro. My best to you and yours.
thanks I'll keep that in mind, but it was unloaded and I think the safety was on, but you know how the saying goes that I can't rely on your gun safety's safety.
Exactly right, and I appreciate you taking the tip as it was offered. Simply as constructive. Being new to guns is cool too dude, and if you keep at it you'll learn a lot. We all had to start out knowing very little and practice helps. Don't be afraid to go to your local range and ask as many questions as you like. Most good gun owners are only too happy to help you out.
I know you're indoors, and I guess (I hope it's unloaded) but you gotta learn to keep your finger outside that trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. A very dangerous habit you have going on there.
You said you were new to this stuff? Well, there's a great tip for you.
Thats a great stock. good choice. But for under $300 you could have bought a real mossberg.
The maverick is just the bottom of the line worst cheapest shotgun in production, period. It's a walmart gun. Not a bad idea if you need some backup guns for friends I guess, but putting a specops stock on a maverick is like putting perfume on a pig.
I can almost guarantee you'll have a complete failure of the slide rails or trigger group in less than 300 rounds.
Well , I have reviewed and left no stone unturned on all the forums about the Maverick. To be honest I could have actually got a Mossberg 500 8-shot one time on sale at big 5 but I let it go, because the store clerk pointed out my name mispelled on my car registration than on my license. Plus I have a hectic schedule but I got it resolved anyhow. You are right but I just went with my instinct and based on reviews of Mavericks on forums posted everywhere they are as fine as a mossy so I got it.
cool man they hold 3 more shells than mines making a 9 shot right? I kinda wanted an 8 shot or more but 6 shot is ok for now I guess. And yeah I read that Mossbergs were located New Haven CT just that I forgot in the vid.
Yea I got a 590 because it holds 9 shells and it was on sale at bi9g 5 sporting goods. I have never fired a Maverick 88, but I'm sure it feels a lot like a Mossberg 500
that sux you have to wait after you bought it to recieve your gun. In North Carolina I walk right into Walmart buy my gun and they walk you to car to put gun you just bought in your car so you can go back in walmart and continue your shopping.
thanks man, Ive actually seen some of your vids and nice mossy you got. I'll prolly get a ventilated rib barrel and then do outdoor trap and skeet. Anywho take care.
nice presentation.... just wear a white t-shirt and or lighten the backround for a good quality show on the gun itself.. and one question... do you have to take a test inorder to purchase the shotgun? lmk thanks 5/5 very professional persentation
Nice review. Thanks.

I think you would have to change out not only the forearm but also the slide action bars because they're attached to it.. you really cannot change the forearms out to my knowledge.. but im thinkin 28" barrels if I ever decide on trap skeet shooting later on..
s0meGuyMarlyMar 1 year ago
It is handy because that barrel can get hot, but I usually don't touch the barrel part after some long shooting. It does add a meaner look though....

Thanks for the info. I have the field model. The cool thing about texas is you can buy and walk away with said gun/rifle.
joeprogo 1 year ago
what kind of stock is that bro? i just bought my maverick and i want that same stock
puravida54 2 years ago
google blackhawk.. but anyway this is the model SpecOps Blackhawk Stock with a dual recoil compensating system. Takes 85% off the recoil and it works good for me so far plus the limbsaver buttpad (which is sold separate)
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
how much did u pay on the buttpad?...and is that a good one?
puravida54 2 years ago
I actually think its 15-20, and at the time it was only orderable thru blackhawk but now they can be easily found but I think some are $22 at some websites. google limbsaver butt pad specops.
one thing I gotta tell you.. its hard as hell removing the existing stock you have.. you need to place the gun like.. on a vice or something or get someone to hold the gun by the receiver, and then to unscrew it..
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
what the he'll is a butt pad or do you like stockpad
MrDip02 1 year ago
@MrDip02 in this case, it would be the pad on the butt of the stock
s0meGuyMarlyMar 1 year ago
ya but really shouldnt the stock me confortable as it is.
MrDip02 1 year ago
@MrDip02 ehh, well the one on my blackhawk was originally hard rubber so I changed it out to soft rubber.. they're usually held with screws..
s0meGuyMarlyMar 1 year ago
o because usely the stock with the shotgun im getting has a really confortable stock for me
MrDip02 1 year ago
blackhawk stocks are definitely worth it

How lovely that someone is allowed to own such a staggeringly dangerous weapon!
EdnaSweetlove 2 years ago
@EdnaSweetlove Another defenseless person from the UK. Shut the Fuck UP! What are you going to do if someone breaks in your house and tries to harm you or someone you care for? Suck his D$%K?
sean2070 2 years ago
How about living in a civilized country instead of an ugly violent shithouse full of moronic psychotics who think it's OK to point lethal weapons at each other? Or how about having a police force who is properly trained instead of being a load of violent criminals? Or how about learning a few manners yourself?
EdnaSweetlove 2 years ago
Since we don't live in that type of fantasy world,I choose to protect my life and the lives of my family. Self defense is a God given right of every person on the planet.
sean2070 2 years ago
Just leave the USA and you can live somewhere decent. It's easy, dear.
EdnaSweetlove 2 years ago
So, I guess where you live is some kind of utopia where nothing ever happens and there are no bad people and every one loves each other?
sean2070 2 years ago
It's called Europe. The place where people don't carry guns and kill each other for fun.
EdnaSweetlove 2 years ago
So, no one in the U.K has ever broken into someones house and stabbed the occupants to death or raped someone?
sean2070 2 years ago
I can assure you that I have never killed another person for fun or for any other reason. All of us don't go around waving guns in each others faces. Stop believing everything you read and see on the news. My firearms are for self defense and target shooting. If a life and death situation presents itself , I will defend myself.
sean2070 2 years ago
WHAT??
The don't carry guns in Europe, or kill people really?? Hitler / slavery, rings a bell?
Ever heard of Switzerland?
Switzerland has one of the highest gun counts per capita in the world!!!
(1.2 million to 3 million guns)
Every Swiss males grows up expecting to undergo basic military training, usually at age 20. After training he keeps a Sig 550 rifle in his home.
In addition many people buy other assault rifles for personal protection.
Also they have a extremely low crime rate!!!
JayJayNYC2DC 2 years ago
Hitler? Slavery? Are you nuts? The Swiss only need guns to protect their cheese. Also who respects the Swiss? No one. At least they aren't as violent as the yanks, nor do they have the same murder, poverty or rape rates. Nor race hatred.
EdnaSweetlove 2 years ago
@EdnaSweetlove
Your a delusional idiot! Im glad you cant own any guns, you're extreamly simple-minded.
And you have no sense of history. Guess what Im African, Irish, and Native American. What do those groups all have in common? The filthy British killed, raped, and brutalized all of them.
Get a clue numb nuts!!!

JayJayNYC2DC 2 years ago
That is a Huge monumental generalization.
sean2070 2 years ago
I never understood why is it that so many people in the UK have this idealistic and sanctimonious attitude towards guns...
Historicity Great Britain used gun aggressively against everyone, the Irish, Africans, Native Americans, ect.
Responsible gun owners own to protect not to harm. You do know that there is a difference.
Are you a literal pacifist?
If someone attack your child would you not physically intervene, or will you scream until a man helps you?
JayJayNYC2DC 2 years ago
Not sanctimonious. And what has our past unpleasant history bgot to do with civil society? There is no such thing as a responsible gun owner. You simply don't need one. Even a yank should be able to work that one out.
EdnaSweetlove 2 years ago
Whoa now guys calm down... LOL just got time to read comments, but just to clarify it cannot be any someone allowed to own a dangerous weapon in legal terms; in America there's the 2nd amendment (2nd right?) for the right to bear arms. Well in California in America where I am (and some laws, just are harsh but that's the golden state for you) you have to be 18+ for a long gun, 21+ for a short handgun, and free of criminal background, AND wait 10 days after you pay to pick it up.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
So then the gun is registered in your name. If you have a criminal background, other than just speeding tickets I think, then you can't buy one legally and not allowed. But there are illegal ways buying guns, like off the street unregistered or that are registered stolen but that's unlawful right there and huge fine/prison time if you're caught.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
Nice vid, just wondering, Did you change the pump on your mav88? I got one 3 years ago but the stock pump has a smooth grip with a groove down the length (no ridges).
JayJayNYC2DC 2 years ago
Hey thanks. But no I haven't changed the pump, and I think you can't unless maybe though gunsmithing. But this one's all original. I purchased this last summer.

Welcome!
Scooterbrother5 2 years ago
also far as the 500 vs 88 go,i prefer the 88 its seems to have a better stock from the factory,my 500A i have to keep a pistol grip on it becuz the factory stock is very thin and comes loose when shooting, the maverick stock is tough as nails and stays tight, btw i have 6000-7000(cant remember) rounds threw an old maverick 88 without a hiccup i dont shoot it anymore(gave away)
O4jampO4 2 years ago
the only shotgun i feel is a better bang for the buck is a benelli nova hd,price round $300 and carrys the benelli quality, that maverick will outlive you lol and i happen to know 2 cops who use them, because they dont plan on using optics(on a 12 gauge unecessary)or putting a pistol grip forearm, and if they do want a tactical forearm alot of companys make accesories for the maverick 88(forearms for a maverick wont fit a 500)
O4jampO4 2 years ago
hey man dont sell yourself short, really nothing mossberg is considered beginner atleast from a 12 gauge, the mossberg and the maverick are the same,is there a quality differnce between them no,cosmetics yes but thats it,if you want specifics checwith mossberg they are both u.s made btw,if you want something nicer than an 870 try a hawk 98,much better made than an 870 express hd(8 shot),and has really nice ghost rings with a price round $250.
O4jampO4 2 years ago
these shotguns are high quality and very durable.i guarantee the people who say u should have gone with a 500 wud then say you shouldve gotten an 870 after you review the 500 and a benelli nova after you review the 870.just like if you buy a glock you shouldve bought an m&p and after the m&p review you shouldve bought an xdm it never stops.
O4jampO4 2 years ago 9
Yes bro I agree with you on here, as it keeps going up and up the ladder for a better, more expensive brand after the next. Benellis are like the "Dolce & Gabbana" of shotguns LOL I think. But it's tailoring to your budget and needs (or wants?) and not theirs but they do get you thinking sometimes and it is somewhat advice they give. This is just a beginner shotgun though for me.
But as a matter of fact I plan to maybe get an Remington 870 8-shot capacity in the near future.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
i got the 88 maverick..just picked it up a week ago. i have the top folding ATI stock and pistol grip. LOVE IT. anyone recommend a different front sight for it? i dont care for the little brass dot
00RSZEX 2 years ago
I went the cheap route and picked up a heat shield/ghost ring combo a while back. It was a pain in the butt to align- I used the bead to help, then crimped down HARD after fitting the screws- but it works short range- or if youre using slugs- its fairly accurate there too

The old mavericks where made in Mexico, newer are made in the same plant that makes the Mossberg.

LOLZ... nope. I just hit the gym 3-4 days a week but I need to work on my legs more or I'll tip over and fall.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
HEHEHE, You're alright brother... Dont listen to all these folks sayin that your shotgun is cheap. It doesn't matter what you got, as long as it works and you're efficent with it. The man feared most is the one with ducktape holding his rifles grip on..!!! Thats an old Special Forces saying. We all learn to shoot iron sights before any optics are applied in training. Thats not a bad shotgun at all. Nice vid bro. My best to you and yours.

thanks to you too bro. I'm assuming your a skilled deadly combat soldier, marines or army? much respect to you. I'll check out your channel sometime
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
thanks I'll keep that in mind, but it was unloaded and I think the safety was on, but you know how the saying goes that I can't rely on your gun safety's safety.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
Exactly right, and I appreciate you taking the tip as it was offered. Simply as constructive. Being new to guns is cool too dude, and if you keep at it you'll learn a lot. We all had to start out knowing very little and practice helps. Don't be afraid to go to your local range and ask as many questions as you like. Most good gun owners are only too happy to help you out.
Good luck with it all man.
OldEphram1 2 years ago 2
I know you're indoors, and I guess (I hope it's unloaded) but you gotta learn to keep your finger outside that trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. A very dangerous habit you have going on there.
You said you were new to this stuff? Well, there's a great tip for you.
OldEphram1 2 years ago
Thats a great stock. good choice. But for under $300 you could have bought a real mossberg.
The maverick is just the bottom of the line worst cheapest shotgun in production, period. It's a walmart gun. Not a bad idea if you need some backup guns for friends I guess, but putting a specops stock on a maverick is like putting perfume on a pig.
I can almost guarantee you'll have a complete failure of the slide rails or trigger group in less than 300 rounds.
originaladonyx 2 years ago
Well , I have reviewed and left no stone unturned on all the forums about the Maverick. To be honest I could have actually got a Mossberg 500 8-shot one time on sale at big 5 but I let it go, because the store clerk pointed out my name mispelled on my car registration than on my license. Plus I have a hectic schedule but I got it resolved anyhow. You are right but I just went with my instinct and based on reviews of Mavericks on forums posted everywhere they are as fine as a mossy so I got it.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
And it's a first beginner shotgun for me I rarely go often to shoot it. I shot 130 rounds so far. Last time I shot it was 4th of July.

Nice shotgun bro.
I have a Mossberg-590 and I love it.
madeinamerica650 2 years ago
cool man they hold 3 more shells than mines making a 9 shot right? I kinda wanted an 8 shot or more but 6 shot is ok for now I guess. And yeah I read that Mossbergs were located New Haven CT just that I forgot in the vid.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
Yea I got a 590 because it holds 9 shells and it was on sale at bi9g 5 sporting goods. I have never fired a Maverick 88, but I'm sure it feels a lot like a Mossberg 500
madeinamerica650 2 years ago
cool yeah I seen them on sale at big 5 too one time, it came with a heat shield already huh? I'm sure it'll feel the same as it's a mossy 500 clone.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
that sux you have to wait after you bought it to recieve your gun. In North Carolina I walk right into Walmart buy my gun and they walk you to car to put gun you just bought in your car so you can go back in walmart and continue your shopping.
fisttaface 2 years ago
yeap, that's the state of California for ya. I'll admit some laws do suck here. and for handguns, you can only get one at a time.
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
cool shotgun.
Like the stock

Nice review. That is a nice shotgun you have there.
And FYI Mossberg shotguns are made in New Haven Connecticut
madeinamerica650 2 years ago
Your are right I should have worn a brighter color shirt
But no there is no permit test for a shotgun or Any long gun. For a hAndgun yes but for both there is a background check
s0meGuyMarlyMar 2 years ago
nice presentation.... just wear a white t-shirt and or lighten the backround for a good quality show on the gun itself.. and one question... do you have to take a test inorder to purchase the shotgun? lmk thanks 5/5 very professional persentation
