Why did the "tea party" organize under a banner if "unions" are sooooo awful. Could it be strength in numbers? Why support your own family, after all it's like minded people who protect each other and advance shared goals. Should we outlaw families? Should we beg our Governor to bust groups of friends who play golf on public courses? How dare they get a discount for four players? How dare they? You should get the same price as a single because it's someone else's fault that you're friendless.

Yep. You know a perfect way to make that happen? Run to the government and beg the Governor to do your work? Nope. Bitch and moan? Nope. Organize and effect the union from within? Yep. Find like minded people and form a charter school? Yep. Just don't expect compensation and benefits congruent with union workers. Go out to the cold and "aw shucks" yourself to benefits, job protection, legal representation, etc. and pay for every penny of it from your own wallet. Good luck.

PASS THE BILL NOT THE BUCK!! why do teachers and other public workers want to spend my kid's money before he even makes it. why do you public sector people think the private sector should work and bust their ass until we are 80 years old before we can retire. so the public sector can live the good life and retire at 50 years old and not pay for their benefits.

@sgmenges Teachers should make more than an average worker in the private sector. Their more educated, most have masters degrees. They also have to keep getting college credits all through their careers.

Same on Democrats for brainwashing these people,We have labor laws now to protect workers.Gov Walker wants to give people the choice of joining unions not mandatory as it is now.These Union members are greedy,its non-union workers who pay their salary and many cant afford it.
let your job performance base what you earn for wages,unions protect the lazy and bad workers.Unions have made it so America cant compete in global markets and union dues go to the Democratic party only

You're all for "teachers being fairly compensated" and like your Mom,(kudos to her for teaching) they would have been "fairly compensated" minus the power derived from the organization of those big, bad, unions? Of course! Why didn't I think of that? The human being is such a unselfish, fair, not greedy being. Are unions, their membership or leaders, saints? Nope. Are they non human "parasites and leeches"? Nope. You can be an ideological kiss ass and little guy. No one's stopping you

@skye820 -- How does that jive w/ 60% of Wis citizens on the side of union rights esp. collective bargaining? Since the state worker union has already agreed to benefit concessions, HOW are Wisconsin citizens being expensed? Your premise has NO basis in fact, -none-. And then WHY were Police & Firefighter's specifically excluded from Walker's bill, if not to incite factional favoritism? Yet Police & Firefighters are standing in solidarity w/ protesting state workers. Walker's a corporate pawn.

Not sure how the unions are trying to 'protect' their members by allowing layoffs. Apparently there are expendable 'union' jobs. Public union depend on tax dollars to fund benefits and payscales, by reducing public union power, Governor Walker is trying to protect private workers from enormous tax increases that come with a larger government. Large unions are unsustainable, Gov. Walker is trying to protect private sector AND union jobs.

@skye820 ?????? Wrong. They have been out there for weeks protesting Walkers ebullient fiscal conservatism and blatant disregard for workers rights. The soon-to-be ex Governer Walker has awoken a sleeping giant. If this is truly a democracy, the people have made their decision: collective bargaining will not be dissolved.
