  • Dsave... The music. I gotta know what that is? I just love the music!! Groovy! Seriously though, another great video.

    Cheers, -J

  • And thank you for your service! B CO 1/16 INF

  • Hey I had a question, I know your busy, love your videos! But I was wondering, a lot of the rtf planes you and Jeff review come with an fm transmitter, I was curious if you can buy extra receivers for these radios in case I wanted to use the same one for an ARF bind and play plane. Keep up the good reviews!

  • thanks alot for the reply guys

  • mack it 2.4g

  • hey nightflyyer i want to start rc planes ive been into rc cars for a while now but my local park is large but there is too many trees there is a clean basball field. i dont know which plane would be able to take off fast enough what plane do you recomend im a fast learner i really like jets like the f35 f18 exc.....what can i do buddy...

  • @TheSaltysack Buy, E-flite Apprentice 15e RTF. Comes with everything including charger. It is a 58" wing span, high wing trainer, with parts easily available, easy to fix, takes about 6-7 feet for take off. Very stable flight characteristics, but get lessons in flying. Don't fly without instructions. This is not a car, remember that.

  • foam? try balsa, it flies better......

  • @androsborsato But foam is much easier to repair, and can take up a bit of beating, good for beginners..

  • That plane is not big ,55inch is small, big plane is 122in to 157in.

and your flying skill is catastrophic ,poor foamie :(

  • thats what she said 1:00

  • That wasn't that bad of a crosswind by Jeff. Nice job guys!

  • boy, sure is a beautiful plane.. detailed scale and looks like a powerful motor too...

  • can these sky trainers take off in grass at all?

  • Someone needs to work on their 'scale' landings ;-) Looks like a fun plane however!

  • at 6:20 Just imagine if you lost the plane in that cornfield.

  • Comment removed

  • if the the plane is foam did it come packed in foam? lol!

  • jeff needs to take a LONG SHOWER.

  • They don't sell it anymore

  • how long is it?:D

  • Just wondering, which one is better. The Cessna 182 art tech or Cessna 182 FMS. Thx

  • @dennyjariova Blue Cessna 182T 3D Aerobatic Radio Remote Control Electric RC Airplane RTF w/ EPO Durability + With Flaps + Super Performance this is the best one for now untill another model beats this..

  • Hi, I'm just wondering what the title of the book Dave wrote is?

  • lol pause at 6:39

  • lol i thought it was BOULDER!

  • "massive unit" thats what she said lol

  • you guys come in too high and turn off throttle completly, wrong, you must come in about 3 feet lower and keep the motor going but at about 5-15 % according to plane to make the landing smooth then when you get really slow use elevator up all the way and glide down to a landing and voila, smooth landing and hopefully smooth sailing XD

  • are there any cheaper rc trainer plane

  • @eminemrulesmajorly1 Hobbyzone champ about $90

  • I saw a homeless guy the other day holding a sign that said "WILL WORK FOR RC AIRPLANE" and I swear to God he looked just like that Jeff guy...

  • Can you help with the center of gravity for this plane and battery placement in order to keep it from being tail heavy? Please and thanks in advance

  • Say its 139$ so do i pay the english currency for it?

  • @1Filmproducer what is english currency? english is a language

  • @rc18trocks your very stupid arnt you lol there is a country called england you know which has its own english currency ie english pound lol

  • @hammer3456 oh well i'm going to ignore you calling me stupid cause i'm that kind of person ;p but yea my bad, in my defense i left the comment at 1 in the morning :p

  • @rc18trocks haha i was only joking around mate just reading it dose come of bad the english use the pound u use the dollar we use pence u use cents hope that awnsers ya question :)

  • @hammer3456 lol i know you were joking :p but when i think of english currency i think of pounds and quid, not actually "english language". maybe its because i live in canada and speak english and take it for granite :p

  • do you need any kind o permit of liscence to use this? i have an area in mind where there is pretty much one big hill, and at the top is a mid sized parking lot. i dont want to be in anyones way just to find out im flying it illegaly or something....

  • @fsxaviator Technically you should have AMA. AMA is insurance and you should fly at an approved AMA field. However, nobody is stopping you from flying on your own anywhere you want. And with that being said, you are responsible for any injuries or damage. I think the AMA costs $58 a year. It's a good idea to get it. they will give you a number and 12 months subscription to a magazine.

  • nice...! and not a cloud in the sky..;p

  • it looks cool but the e-flight apprentice 15e is my favorite trainer

  • I thought it was recommended that beginner's start with a 2 or 3 Ch plane? I'd much rather start with one of these!

  • 1st landing was shocking, it turned into a heli for the last few seconds lol

  • are you going to fly it, or hump it?

  • Tapered wings aren't the best trainers.

I'd take a telemaster from a balsa kit ANY DAY over any ARF.

    Entertaining video.

  • I love this plane, and I just purchased the airfield version. cant wait to fly it!!!!

  • sounded like fred flintstone when you said, " wow we cant wait to see it fly man, lets get it together" at 2:26 no criticism :) :) nice vid

  • try this: make the plane go pretty far away from you , turn line it up but use the rudder for your landing to make slow nice turns. make your plane have a low altitude, cut the trottle down to about a little bellow half keep on decending then when ur about a half of a foot away from the ground, cut the throttle all the way and pull up. Hope it helps!

  • Thats what she said. lol nice videos. I need this plane!!

  • Jeff stuck that landing good, man. Most would have crunched it.

  • 1:41....that's what she said lol

  • Nearly every plane that is labeled as a "trainer" usually turns out to be the worst thing possible for a new pilot to train on. Your friend does a good job, but probably only thanks to your experienced coaching.

Your quoted wing loading also appears wrong -- 1100g/27.35 dm should be 40g/dm2 wing loading, not 34g/dm2. Wing loading matters. That's more than 13oz/ft2, which is not appropriate for a beginner.

  • @eastcoast78 hahahahaha good one mate!!! lol

  • Comment removed

  • all right my turn lol

  • Nice video.

I found a lot of nitro gas trainers here in Brazil, but expensive = US$ 500

Which is the best for beginers? Gas or eletric?

    Thanks.

  • @ZULUBRAZIL

if you can afford it go gas,

gas trainers are inheritly more stable and have self rightening flying style because of the dyhedrial it wants to stay level

the thing with planes like the cessna tend to have no dyhedrial, athough still easy to fly could be still a handfull for the untrained pilot

these cessna models wont self right when you let go of the controlls and require the rc pilot to manualy make corrections to the aileron, still there easy to fly compared to some

  • @puggster yeah i have to agree with you there mate. dihedral is a good thing on a trainer. something this cessna hasn't got.

  • @ZULUBRAZIL Electric is cheaper and performs better -- it will have better wing loading and be more durable. Most gas trainers are heavy, and to compound the problem, are made of balsa which is very fragile. Gas is also noisy, which will limit your flying site options.

If you're serious about this, then your choice of radio is going to be important as well. Go straight for a 2.4GHz spread spectrum radio and don't bother with the old AM/FM style radios.

DON'T buy any plane labeled "trainer".

  • @GoatZilla that is the most ridiculous thing i have ever read! you can't beat a gas trainer. yes they're heavy, are more scale-like, and are MUCH MUCH LESS susceptable to being thrown around by the wind!! you try and get a beginner to fly a foam plane in 30 mile an hour winds!!! but with a plywood/balsa trainer no problem. i fly my sky raider mach 1 and 2 in strong winds and they are great and stable. and who says balsa is very fragile? lol. it's MUCH stronger than foam!!

  • @bruiserhzj Gas trainers are loud, which limits where you can fly them, and they're heavy, which increases their kinetic energy upon impact and increases their stall speed. None of this is beneficial to a beginner, period. It's also inappropriate for aerial photography/video.

I fly over a slimer field all the time on days when it's too windy for them to fly. They're too chicken shit to fly in the wind because they know what will happen to their big, heavy, balsa planes.

  • @GoatZilla and not only that...having a gas trainer makes you think and learn about other aspects of aviation, like properly understanding your plane, having the correct tune for the day, learning to fly with something that can "cut out" and be deadstick. this will teach the beginner to do deadstick landings by force. i know it sounds funny, but you learn faster. makes you think quick. and at the end of the day, if you really love this hobby...you will eventually have a gas plane anyway...

  • @bruiserhzj You are merely regurgitating the legacy groupthink of whatever club you belong to. Think outside the group, and outside the balsa.

All my landings are "deadstick." I don't even know why you bother to consider that a skill since all glider/sailplane landings are "deadstick". Maybe it's because your planes all fly like shit when the power's off... I mean being able to fly a piece of shit is a neat skill to have I guess, I'd just rather not fly a piece of shit.

  • @GoatZilla you don't know what you're talking about mate. i suggest you go and talk to a real pilot and learn about aviation. if you want to play with "toy" planes...then that's your choice. if you want to fly REAL planes, then that's even better. and yes deadstick is a skill if your plane cuts out or goes flat in an area where you have to make a quick decision to land it safely. and i can tell you, there are more nitro aero clubs around than electric clubs...here anyway.

  • @bruiserhzj Let me reiterate: flying deadstick is only a skill if the plane can’t fly worth a shit w/o power.

Sky Raider Mach I: 725 sq. in. wing area, 5.5 lbs AUW. Wing loading: 17.5oz/sq ft.! Absolutely horrible.

Planes like this try to overcome an inherently bad design with motor power, but in the end they still fly like shit and are prone to stalls, particularly tip stalls. No wonder you think deadstick is a skill.

You’ve been led astray by your club, and you don’t even realize it.

  • @GoatZilla haha you think a sky raider has a horrible wing loading?? lol. my friend...this is an EXCELLENT wing loading!! if you think this is bad how would you...SUCH AN EXPERIENCED PILOT....go with flying a fighter jet? lol. which as you know have extremely high wing loadings lol. fuck mate get real, if you can't fly a plane like the sky raider or at least give it a good review, then you should leave the hobby. the raider glides in for hundreds of meters with no power...you ever flown one?

  • @GoatZilla and as for my planes...they all fly perfect. perfect cg and trims. and as for your comment about gas trainers having faster landings, that's bullshit too. it all depends on the wing size and loading compared to the size and weight of the fuselage. see? you put everything in one basket because you don't know much about aviation. my sky raider lands at a speed VERY capable of any beginner. and i don't crap on about what a club says, i have learnt from real pilots, not kids with foam.

  • @bruiserhzj Apparently, reading is not your strong suit. Neither is writing. I already mentioned wing loading of this particular plane, which is around 13oz/ft2, and I've already said that is inappropriate for a beginner plane.

If it flies reliably and safely while carrying a useful payload, then I’m not sure what the difference is between my toy and your toy, other than the fact that yours is louder, requires more maintenance and repair, flies worse, and crashes even worse than it flies.

  • @GoatZilla that's if you want to fly a REAL plane. don't get me wrong....i like electric too...i have a little electric parkflyer, but you're limited with windy days. i'm working on a giant scale WACO biplane 50cc gas. once you've flown a big scale rc plane...you will never go back mate i promise you that!!! all the best mate safe flying :D

  • @ZULUBRAZIL if you want a fantastic trainer aircraft mate, get a sky raider mach 1. very stable plane, won't get thrown around by the wind like the light foam/electric planes do!!! and also the sky raider has semi-symmetrical airfoil which provides an enormous amount of lift and glides beautifully!!! and also...plywood/balsa planes are more precise than foam planes as the wings don't flex during flight like foam planes do. my flight instructor recommended the sky raider to me and they're great!!

  • @bruiserhzj We're talking about beginner aircraft. 17oz/sq ft is not an appropriate loading for a beginner plane. Period. You've got a stall speed of more than 20mph. Of course your club instructor recommended the plane to you. You all drink the same Flavor Aid.

  • @bruiserhzj Your plane is too heavy. This is why *you* need an airfoil with an "enormous amount of lift".

Using an airfoil with increased lift increases drag. Power to overcome drag has a cubed relationship with velocity; since your plane has to fly faster to stay in the air, it has to have a more powerful engine.

More powerful engine = heavier, and thus the cycle repeats itself.

Slimers like yours compensate for bad designs with nitro power, and the resulting wing loading says it all.

  • can you review this 4-3Q2 Walkera Micro Brushless Metal Version w/ 2.4GHz 2402 Transmitter ive been thinking about this heli but i have not heard if its good or bad please respond

  • haha, u guys rock, smoke one for me lol

  • Unlimited energy sources are out there! But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,Get a REAL working magnet motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Join the revolution!

  • Will it land in grass without nosing in? OR can you just take the landing gear off and belly land it? Because where I fly I don't have concrete to land on.

  • Looks like an easy Plane to learn on for a beginner, and reasonably priced too!

Might have to see if I can find one here Downunder, love to get into flying again, last time I did that was when I was a 14yr old , ( that was a long time ago)

  • this looks like the super cub

  • cool i seen a lot of good vids about the fms . i have been looking for a first fiyer this looks like the one. thanks for the info.¿

  • Very nice!

  • I just ordered the latest version of this plane. It now comes with 2.4ghz and says the landing gear is improved. Decals are a bit different, as well.. I am very excited.

  • this is amazing my cessna is bedore

  • does this plane have standart steering nosewheel or is it upgradet?

  • hi man do you know where can i buy this plane with decals? nitroplane has it without decals and it looks pretty bad

  • it looked like the screws were present during the un-boxing he he he

  • you shoulda added a flycam

  • i like crash landing!!!

  • is this guy the person who was arrested molesting kids pretending to be santa?

  • Honestly? I would bypass this trainer. The nose assembly is the cheapest I ever thought would be manufactured. Forget about landing this in ANYTHING other than flat glass. The road literally eats up, wears out, rips up the foam wheels and does havoc to the nose assembly. Finally, it loosens up, and the steering goes off, and it's in the grass only to flip over and break the rear stabilizer. Because this has to be glued down, you better have a good adhesive. Eflites Apprentice 15E is BETTER

  • How much space do you need to fly this plane? This is what I have to work with: bit(dot)ly/9tZyvq

Basically it's two attached rectangular spaces, sizes are in ln ft'.

    805 feet x 325 feet

    and

    500 feet x 544 feet

  • Comment removed

  • where can these decals be found?

  • Jegs cap- bro!

  • it looks almost exactly like the great planes cessna

  • Are u rich? How can u bye all that stuff ;-)

  • Reminder, when landing this plane...BELLY OUT!! Don't go in nose heavy EVER. All it takes is one time, and you will break off the cheap plastic swivel that is attached to the front nose assembly. You will have to order a whole new fuselage because this part only comes with a new fuselage. Trying to get information about this will be a horrible experience with NITROPLANES. Beware. They are NOT customer oriented, not matter what they advertise. BEWARE !

  • @chivone21 im looking to buy a trainer from them but now reading this should i or what website do you consider, and with the thinner mountain air should i consider a bigger prop?

  • Take off that cowel enough times, and you will begin to loosen the glued screw bases that have been installed in the fuselage. Tape this cowel down with 1" white duct tape. Do a good job, and it will look like it belongs there. Much easier.

  • Now, it's MUCH easier and faster to field prepare this for flight. Not to mention transporting it takes up MUCH LESS space. Oh, and be prepared to glue down the rear wheel assembly. It has popped out going UP AND coming down, numerous times. It is a very loose fit. You might also consider taping the underside of the cowel. This is the cheapest plastic I have ever seen in an rc plane. This will alleviate any cracks, or breaks you might unfortunately encounter

  • The answer to my modifications was that I drilled a 1/4" hole fore and aft and inserted a wooden dowel and left 3/4" protruding at each side. I then glued the wings together, and gorrila glue duct taped the seam white. I then attached the wings with large rubber bands, and carefully placed them over a reinforced trailing edge and leading edge with tape. (I couldn't fabricate a plastic edge)

  • If anyone is wondering, I had to do extensive modifications to this airplane. Yeah, it flies nice, but, less than desired landings wreak absolute havoc on this body. The wings will break off very easily, and they will either break off the corners where they are bolted down, or they will shear off the cheap #4 size screws, rendering you unable to re-attach the wings

  • Should i buy the simulator if i want to practice with the trim and my landings(by the way im a begginer and have almost no expierence)?

  • A nice model ... but much like many another, and there are better trainers that are designed as trainers without also trying to be scale.

  • @toakreon a nice model but you need to reinforce the wing bolts with a plywood plate. On my 3rd flight I decided to try some extreme 3D stunts and the wing broke off in mid air pulling a high G pull out from a dive into a loop. The foam broke right out around the bolts. No worries. I replaced the nose cowl, prop and added the plywood plate and she flies again.

  • whered you get it?

  • Dave would you mind if I ask you >> What do you do or did do for a living if you have retired? I am planning on a career.

  • Oh geez its not THAT big. haha. A trainer needs to be big though. Looks like it would be tough on a grass field and lots of people don't have paved. Lots of better trainers out there than a scale cessna. But I love cessnas. looks good and flies great in the vid.

  • with simulator with 5ch transmiter and reciver

  • im gona get it of ebay at 2:29 pm

  • power poles not good its on the rules

  • i know you the small in door plane

  • holy shit that is 1 big trainer plane

  • holy macro i loveit when h says that lol !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Since you guys got this trainer you should check into the super cub lp.

  • you guys can fly !!

  • Hey guys that was a nice introductory video on the fms Sky Trainer from nitro planes. Well I ordered it with no experience and it is due to arrive tommorrow . I noticed your quote on the front landing gear and amazing goop helped you out. I'm wandering if I made a mistake and should just try and sell it as soon as I get it. Note: I have no experience in the air. I also ordered a small camera for on board video. If I do decide to keep it where can I purchase Amazing Goop ?

  • Well i bought a f-18n exceed and crashed and fixed it 7 times. Now i just dont know how to bind it so until then im screwed.

  • Do the wings come off pretty easy for transport?

  • good job man

  • How long does ttke tocharge a full flight???

  • how long does it take to charge for a full flight??>??????

  • my old kyosho cessna is a sweet flyer without much if any tip stall troubles, but its obscenely overpowered -2600kv , 11.1, 6x4 apc-

  • I was wondering what the battery life on this r/c plane was as well. Nitroplanes recently launched their Sky Trainer 400 but Tony said the battery life was only 4 - 6 minutes which I think for a plane of that size is a little short. Was wondering if the battery life on this plane was any longer?

  • @RYmanH24

it runs for 20 minutes (3 cell lipo I guess)

  • @AwesomeCoasters wow really!? thats amazing for a large high power electric!

  • the eflight eprentece is better i have one =3

  • is the rc a 2.4 Ghz or a 72 Mhz and what is the average battery life

  • hi i got my new art tech cessna 182 but i dont how to put the nose landing gear on i have put the back landing gear on but the nose gear plz put up a video instruction to assemble the nose landing gear

  • i think you should make that Cessna a night flyer with LED.

  • I would have to argue that that is the good foam, I hope someone corrects me, but doesn't that foam crumple instead of break. Z-foam breaks and is really easy to repair.

  • You have amazing skills. Until a couple days ago I had never piloted an RC plane. My neighbor a long time enthusiast asked me to try a new BiPlane kit he designed for first time fliers. He gave me a 2-3 minute verbal flight lesson and handed me the controls. See the video here by searching SlowBipe. I was TOTALLY blown away.

I'm no expert, can't speak with authority about strengths/weaknesses, but to pick up a control and solo with no experience was cool to me! Can't wait to get mine.

  • What are the recommended servo throws for a plane like this? A friend of mine had it, but every time he tried to fly it, it rolled and ended crashing, no matter how gentle you pushed the stick. I think it has to do wiht the servo throws, am I right?

    Thx

  • I ran with the stock setup from the start and it worked well, however it needed a good length of runway to gain speed before liftoff. Taking off to early and you could easily find yourself in a mild stall with a tendency of flipping over to the left. Hope you have checked the servo reverse switches on the radio to ensure correct orientation on the aileron, rudder and elevator.

  • I bought this plane some time ago. As you said it looks really good and is very stable in air. However I soon started hating it because:

    1) The nose wheel coat is badly designed and does not take much punishment and the mounting easily breaks off. My dealer recommended to reinforce the 'hat' where the steel rod mounts to the coat with epoxy.

  • 2) It is very easy to destroy the the steering / tail servo if you are not extremely easy with the landings. Always take the plane down with the main landing gear first to minimize the shock on the nose wheel and stay away from uneven tracks. Replace this servo with a new with metal gears.

  • 3) The firewall plastic wall that mount the engine and the nose wheel steering rod is badly designed and easy to destroy.

    4) The main landing gear had a tendency of falling off in the air. My dealer suggested from the start to fix it in some way. I mounted locking screw from the battery compartment to lock it into position.

  • 5) The stock engine was somewhat underpowered.

    6) You really needed to put thread locking on the preinstalled screws fixing the engine. They soon fell off!

    7) If the plane did not fit in your car you had detach the main wing (of course). This operation took a long time and especially when fitting the two hex bolts on the top of the wing.

  • song?

  • nice porn music!!!

  • Hi, please tell me where's the CG, cause i wrecked my plane on the Maiden flight :((

  • @maestrosVIP 60mm from the leading edge of the main wing

  • @makaveli956 thank you

  • Were can I get spare props for this plane . I have the plane and love it

  • I have a 3 ch park zone J-3 cube for a Trainer. Is This a good 4 ch beginer plane

  • This plane looks soooo cooool in the air. We been flying one now for a few week and still love the way it looks.

  • Jeff the Wild Man!!..my kinda guy!!

    Jballzzz: Leader of Men!

  • Just ordered mine for my club the Rams in Flagler beach Florida. Thanks for the info my friend.

  • so funny..thanks jeff..love the jazz too!!

  • im gettin a corsair first model plane i will have ever owned im very excited

  • not a good idea man.

  • why do u say that i have already flown it perfectly

  • corsairs are not the perfect plane for a beginner. they are very unforgiving with tipstalls.

  • Hey Dave! I recieved my sky trainer today and assembled it. All the electronics work fine. BUT! They forgot to include the wall adapter!

  • @speedstakerguy It does not come with one.

  • yes it does. it specificly says that it comes with a ''110V-240V Power Adapter'' and the nitroplanes people already told me they would send me one.

  • weird, i have to give them a call too. But his came with the alligator clips!

  • Yea, so did mine! mine came with everything but the 110V-240V Power Adapter! I already contacted them through live chat and their missing items/damages forum and they both said they would send me a new one.

  • It does not come with a wall adapter.

  • in the item description on nitro planes says it does.

  • The SMS Trainer is the exact same thing as the J-Power Cessna 182 Skylane I got from Banana Hobbies, mine is a 2.4 tho...

  • Hey I was wanting to know is this Plane Going to be able to land in grass, i do not have enough Concrete To make a road landing. Thanks Dave 5 Stars for the Video and i am Subscribed!

  • It can land in short grass. Just be aware of it nosing over.

  • Man the C182 makes my F-15 look like a toy plane!

  • These are back in stock now at NitroPlanes. I just ordered mine! Nice video. Keep em comin! *****

  • Hi Dave. Bought a similar one for about 1month ago cessna 182 EPO 141. The sad part is to change the front wall that holds the noseweel set you need to split the plane. I just got a set of skies now cause there is some snow here. But i love this plane. I have made some videos even with unfortunaly chrashes that wil show how strong this plane is. Keep up the good videos

  • i thinking to buy this plane I selling my RC nitro Car for 80-100 Pounds on ebay and I want to buy it

    we see whats happens ;)

    thnx!

  • Yeah it's good to see some larger electric trainers becoming available now.

  • muy bueno el sesna .aca siempre siguiendo tus novedades Night muy bueno aca no se ven con esa calidad ni precio saludosss

  • nice plane. i bet jeff sure enjoyed reviewing this!

  • crosswind landing

  • does jeff get paid for the camera work? do you pay jeff?

  • I`m sure that Jeff is not paid for his camera Work because he is what i call a good friend and id you have a good friend he will do camera work for you and i think its enough meed for Jeff to always review planes with Dave and as you can see in this video he also gets the Cessna to review and build so .......
