there's no way to say which is better it's the user. if you paired the greatest fighter of japan vs greatest fighter of korea, each having learned the true original art it and left out all rules, other than perhaps biting and eyegouging or deathblows then it would be incredible and most likely neither would win, it would probably be a draw. many people forget that karate and tkd teach hand to hand and self defense also not just kicks and punches.
there is no superior style, it depends on how you use it and what is taught to you, Karate uses hands and feet, incorporate both with side stepping, left to right, side to side, in and out, circling Tkd the same, but more w kicks, and aerial maneuvers. I study both Shotokan Karate, and TKD and i incorporate it w Kick boxing
Same old arguments all the time. You know, I bet only 1 in 20 people that train in Karate/TKD/any other MA have actually used it in a fight and that 1 person might have only ever used it once or twice in their life.
My point, it doesn't matter which is 'better' because your probably never ever going to use it to fight for your life, your going to use it in a competition or for general fitness etc. which is why I prefer TKD/Kickboxing over Karate because I like the rules more.
taekwondo doesnt work for anyting, they only use their feet, take away the protection and their wortless, karate on the other hand does work, you can actually give a punch hhahaha and take one too, taekwondo cant take a punch, because their soft because they use so much protection, the very moment that somebody hits them for REAL they go down because their not used to it
ha u honestly havnt fought a taekwondo fighter, sure they use a lot of protection because their fighting styles do a lot of damage, my friend who is a blue belt in taekwondo got punched 7 times in the face before he broke the other guys nose with one round house to the face,
@luigitj No, Our trainer teaches us to defend us, he teaches us the punches, he teaches us everything you need in a fight. It really depends on your trainer, not on the kind of art. (i'm a yellow belt and i have beated a blue belt karate so... )
Either you train TKD point sparring with a great teacher and you train hard, or you incoporate punching and hapkido techinques.
If you train in a shitty dojo you will suck.
As easy as that. The problem with TKD is thjat it has become extremely popular and as such, schools have adapted their training to become more accsible, thus producing very shitty fighters.
Jaja! i don´t speak in english, do you want in spanish? Ok, pedazo de maricon, no insultes un arte marcial, ya que nadie es perfecto durante un combate, MAMAGUEVO o CHUPA BOLAS Como mejor te guste... Hijo de PUTA!
Justaguy TKD is exteremly usefull in the real world... for one the roundhouse in TKD is more practical and effective and we learn the same punches... did u know Hapiko,Tang Soo Do and Karate mixed made Taekwondo?.... its usefull.. Tbh through some boxing punches with TKD kicks and your a good fighter.
or you can not do TKD and boxing and do Muay Thai and BJJ, a Muay Thai and BJJ fighter would destroy a TKD and boxing fighter simply because the TKD guy won't know how to fight on the ground
@pastyllita Taekwondo is better than Karate, but that's depend on the fighter some Taekwondo fighters are sucks they always missed the kicks the kicks did not landed properly. If you see professional black belt Taekwondo fighters they can kick really good high kicks very fast very powerful kicks and never missed the kicks. Karate uses hands most of the time Taekwondo uses feets to kick high most of the time so you know kicking is 3 or 5 times more powerful than punching.
well I've trained in Kenpo Karate, and Taekwondo, there pretty similar, accept Taekwondo was is and has been militarized, being a compilation of 2000 years of korean martial arts, so the kicks make a lot of sense, seeing as martial arts over 500 years old, generally were used wit hweapons but could alsso be used without, it depends on the fighter altho in some cases the style does matter heavily such as boxing vs taekwondo, taekwondo would be overwhelming
every tkd turnament that my dojo was invited to we walked in and took all the first places and left, and then were never invited back! old karate like shotokan, is definetly overrated way to stiff, but some of the newer styles developed in the last 100 years or so, are the most efective ever seen, and my master's 5 world championships are testament to that! tkd is great for point sparing but it is completely useless in the real world, and most teachers well till you that!
he should come train with me sometime. why is there always angry people going on about BJJ Mauy Thai an MMA being better? they dont hae to whatch if they dont like it.
Those TKD and karate are kids games - really funny. The real martial arts are boxing, wrestling, valetudo and muay thai put together. But TKD is very funny dancing style :)
boxing? wrestling? valetudo? the only good one's muay thai but that one was created to kill people. wrestling isn't a martial art is a piece of shit, boxing's a stupid modern martial art full of openings and about valetudo...fuck! that thing is a martial as much as body building is! karate is a kid game? tkd is soft yeah I agree with that, but do you want to know why in some martial arts like karate there are so many restrictions and forbidden moves? because you can kill people with them asshole
i think that mhuay thai and karate should be mixed, mhuay thai is just to dman boring and needs more varieties of kicks such as spinning kicks and spinning backfists, id like to say that mhuay thai is the best MA but its really just boxing with elbows, and hands, get in close and inteadof hugging u knee, and a few troundhouse kicks...NEEDS MORE MARTIAL ARTS IN IT!!!!
Can I ask, the practitioners present, which is favoured the most Kara-te or TKD. I ask because I am in conflict over what to practice. TKD seems to have a more modern feel, ratehr than strict dojo conduct.
hey guy, don't worry about style. All them are good. You can choose karaté,or taekwondo if you want. But,choose carefully your master, someone who can learn you how to train your body and your soul in the same time.there is no martial better than other, only the fighter can make the difference
ok!if you want to train your hands and feet, you should try full-contact,but it's not a martial art,it's a combat sport.Taekwondo uses hands, and karate uses feet...try both if you can,why not?
@OriginalWhiteTornado thats not true... ur just brainwashed to think that because TKD as a sport is feet feet feet.. TKD = literally means the way of fist and feet... its a combination of both.
@tenjinnim No, I'm not brainwashed as I've been doing taekwondo since I was about 7. I just mean that, of the two arts, taekwondo comparatively uses more feet. Yeah, you do use hands, but for the most part (in my case anyways), kicks are used more often because of the extra range and power. I'm not saying anything against karate (not sure why it'd be taken like that, but just making sure), just that in taekwondo kicks are more prevalent.
@OriginalWhiteTornado your still brainwashed if you think that... you dont just use MORE of your feet than your hands. If you have seen the original katas, especially the first kata of taekwondo, it is nothing more than blocks ONLY using hands. americanized TKD has changed and might have evolutionized it to what you know it as today.
@OriginalWhiteTornado for more info... please youtube "taekwondo poomse 1 " if you have been doing this for "7 years" you should know this kata... and its not just only this kata... poomse 2,3,4 contain a majority of martialized form of hand combat along with powerful kicks.
@tenjinnim Mee preferring feet to hands doesn't mean I'm brainwashed, just that I'm flexible and have longer legs so it's an advantage in my case. I realize the martial arts I learned have probably been adapted by my instructors, but that's bound to be happen. Things change but it doesn't mean that I know nothing about the art after ten years of it. TKD is more feet, karate is more hands. These are the two big differences between the two and that's all I'm trying to point out.
@OriginalWhiteTornado i never talked about you preferring feets over hands for YOUR PERSONAL USE in tae kwon do. The fact that you generalize and stereotype TKD saying that it uses MORE FEET than hands suggest the cultural brainwashing of America. you clearly state "TKD is more feet, karate is more hands" again false. both arts use hands and feet effectively without being biased to either foot or hand --> hence my reasoning to link you the katas and the poomse.
@tenjinnim My bad then, it came off as "if you're not doing this exactly, you're brainwashed". And it's not really a stereotype. Both arts use both techniques, but each prefers one to the other. I was taught to use feet for technical reasons rather than just "this is taekwondo, no hands". I can't really speak for karate, but I've been told, and have seen, that they focus on hands. I've seen both, and that's what I've observed, I'm not believing this through sheer ignorance.
@OriginalWhiteTornado nothing to feel bad about... its just that most people assume that tkd is mostly feet, and in some aspect it is cause the world has changed TKD when it became an international sport, but keep in mind the roots, the original tkd which is still being used is feet and hand... no bias of one or the other... i cant really speak for karate, but i believe they are both phenomenal martial arts
@lezen357 Good response! However, ill favor taekwondo over karate any day! They are very different in many ways! And no matter the teacher, you will be tought the styles in different ways also! Me myself, i like to combine my taekwondo with capoeira!
TRY MUAY THAI it's much BETTER THAN KARATE OR TAEKWONDO. MUAY THAI involve's the use of 8 limbs rather than KARATE and taekwondo that only uses punches and kicks all the time plus MT WILL MAKE YOUR BODY MORE STRONGER. YES TAEKWONDO IS FUN TO WATCH becoz of it's fancy flashy kicking techniques but you cannot apply those kicks in a real fight, think carefully man.
well that is martial arts all about, i mean yah it's more brutal but it's worht it becoz it will make you a though fighter it help your body to resist more pain and most of all it's more practical to use than taekwondo or karate. TKD AND KARATE IS JUST A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. i am not FORCING you to try MUAY THAI but if you will chose an STRIKING ARTS I'LL RATHER CHOOSE MUAY THAI. think carefully MAN dont WASTE YOUR MONEY i know you are working hard to earn those MONEY so spend it wisely
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
"Muay is lame and wastes time" Yah Right! if Muay thai is really LAME then howcome it is always involved in any MMA tournament and howcome most strikers in MMA uses Muay thai as stand up instead of FUCKING KARATE and BULSHIT TEAKWONDO. YOU ARE SO FUCKING FUNNY YET SO FUCKING STUPID TO CALL MUAY THAI A LAME PROBABLY YOUR THE ONE WHO'S LAME. if i where you i will train something that can make my body really strong and withstand pain like MUAY THAI.
mma isn't fucking fighting its wrestleing more fucking prominently its grown men makeing an ass of themselves with headlocks and shit when they could learn to fight properly with strikes and blocks like a fight should be fought
karate and Traditional TKD train your body to with stand pain and strenghten thye bones. thats why we punch and kick through wood and tiles in our power breaking.
muay thai is created to kill people asshole, you can't compare the two of them...and by the way!!! mma is not a martial art competition...is a collection of show offs dork!
Search for other TKD vs MUAY THAI video here in youtube and tell me what you think. there's more video out there that you still didn't see. and count with your fingers how many TKD Fighters have won against a MT FIGHTER
The best advise that I can give you is simply to try them both. Find out and experiance which one is best for you. There are only so many ways the human body can move. Despite the arguments and disagreements, TKD and Karate, as well as every martial art in the world are very similar. So, try out both, and good luck to you.
@Chigura78 its your own choice it kinda rolls out like this
taekwondo: alot of high and powerful kicks that reguarlly aim for the head, you still you punching and tactics like to get a yellow belt some times you need to learna special sequence of tactics with hands and feet.
karate:more hands such as using hands 2 take down opponents guard to strike but the kicks are not used so much mainly for fake strikes.
being that i have been to both of them i personally think that taekwondo is better
You are good. I practice ITF Taekwondo for one and a half years. i did my first tournament and i became first :D i think because i trained hard and i have a good trainer. I am really motivated and want to train in other arts like karate to.
Good video, man. By the looks of it, I'd say you've practiced both Karate(dunno which sort, though :P) and Taekwon-Do(I practice that myself).
And just today, I've been looking at TKD vs Karate videos here in YouTube. This one was the best yet.(even though there was no immediate TKD vs Karate action)
Thanks dude! Really good to watch this, it really was(though it was boring at first, I managed to finish watching it)
ah ah ah !you are not martial art practitioner, you are just muscle man.I like MMA because of his mixed technics of fighting. But MMA is not an martial art,it doesn't have any philosophies like taekwondo or other martial art.MMA can help me to be a better fighter than I am,but it can not help me to understand the life, and to have a good behaviour among people LIKE TAEKWONDO OR KARATE DID. MMA doesn't have life way
Did i ever mention it's a martial arts. and let me ask you something if MMA is not a martial arts then what is it, and base on your understanding what is the word MARTIAL ARTS mean in general. i mean what is the other term for the word MARTIAL ARTS.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport in which a wide variety of fighting techniques are used, including both striking and grappling.
MMA is not a martial art. lezen was right - martial arts have a philosophy and a way of looking at life, trying to make their fighters better (wo)men through modifying personalities.
MMA is a combat sport, rather than a martial art. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but I hope you understand why we say it's not a martial art
Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Aikido, Kung Fu, Muay Thai this are all an Art Of Defending (Martial Arts) MMA IS A MIXTURE OFF ALL THIS ARTS, it doesnt have any Philosophy but it's still an ART OF DEFENDING ( MARTIAL ARTS )and if you dont believe me open up a dictionary and look for the other meaning of a word MARTIAL ARTS, meaning not a deffinition
Forget your dictionary and your definition. Just LOOK the terminology of these names of martial arts ... taekwonDO, KarateDO, aikiDO, juDO, KenDo ... can you tell me why these names all ending with "Do" ?If you understand what "DO" means , then we can discuss intelligently
FORGET yoUR TErminology i am not asking for it no matter what you say you cannot HIDE THE TRUTH THAT MARTIAL ARTS IS WAY OF DEFENDING. TAEKWONDO,KARATEDO,KUNGFU,JUDO,AIKIDO is PERTAINING TO THE ART OR ThE WAY OF DEFENDINg in other words it is the "DO" ( WAY OR ART )
eg: TAEKWONDO WHICH MEANS THE WAY OF DEFENDING BY KICKING AND PUNCHING and if you're still not satisfied i will use other term THE ART OF KICKING AND PUNCHING
mark6020cc if i were u i wouldnt forget terminology coz taekwondo does not mean the way/art of defending it means way/art of hand and foot when practising a martial art it is important to learn terminology, in my itf tkd school my instructor commands us in korean, so im learning korean i dont know much yet but ive learned numbers 1-100, patterns, strikes n blocks, its important to martial arts but i will agree about mma being a way of defense coz its MIXED martial arts all used 4 self defence
i agree with you!that's what i was saying to mark6020cc...he makes a confusion between martial art and combat or fight sport.HE doen't know that boxe is a combat sport, and judo, taekwondo and others are matials arts.Good luck with your ITF Taekwondo(kamzamida=thank you)
Well what you've said can be very easily countered with:
EVERY combat sport can be used for one's defense. EVERY martial art can be used for one's defense. That was NOT what I said you were (partially) wrong about.
ThE LOGIC IS VERY SIMPLE MARTIAL ARTS IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE WAY OF DEFENDING and theres a lots of way you can use like TAEKWONDO which is a way of KICKING and PUNCHING SAME WITH MMA. MMA IS AN ART OR WAY WHICH INVOLVES STRIKING AND GRAPLING if you will only open up a dictionary and look for tis meaning then you will see what is the meaning of this WORD i am not ASKING FOR THE FUCKING TErMINOLOGY PHILOSPHY OR WHATEVER i am ASKING FOR IT's MEANINg or THE EQUIVALENT MEANING OF THE WORD.

YES TAEKWONDO IS FUN TO WATCH becoz of it's fancy flashy kicking techniques but you cannot apply those kicks in a real fight, think carefully man.
mark6020cc 3 years ago
I appreciate your feedback, but I see muy tai as a more brutal. So many people talk about MMA, but I just don't think it's my thing.
Chigura78 3 years ago
well that is martial arts all about, i mean yah it's more brutal but it's worht it becoz it will make you a though fighter it help your body to resist more pain and most of all it's more practical to use than taekwondo or karate. TKD AND KARATE IS JUST A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. i am not FORCING you to try MUAY THAI but if you will chose an STRIKING ARTS I'LL RATHER CHOOSE MUAY THAI. think carefully MAN dont WASTE YOUR MONEY i know you are working hard to earn those MONEY so spend it wisely
mark6020cc 3 years ago
Thanks for the feedback.

U have no clue about karate or Tae. Muay is lame and wastes time. The real karate teaches disipline, strength of body, mind and spirit.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
"Muay is lame and wastes time" Yah Right! if Muay thai is really LAME then howcome it is always involved in any MMA tournament and howcome most strikers in MMA uses Muay thai as stand up instead of FUCKING KARATE and BULSHIT TEAKWONDO. YOU ARE SO FUCKING FUNNY YET SO FUCKING STUPID TO CALL MUAY THAI A LAME PROBABLY YOUR THE ONE WHO'S LAME. if i where you i will train something that can make my body really strong and withstand pain like MUAY THAI.
mark6020cc 3 years ago
mma isn't fucking fighting its wrestleing more fucking prominently its grown men makeing an ass of themselves with headlocks and shit when they could learn to fight properly with strikes and blocks like a fight should be fought
VincentAlucardRose 3 years ago
karate and Traditional TKD train your body to with stand pain and strenghten thye bones. thats why we punch and kick through wood and tiles in our power breaking.
tyebo87 2 years ago
muay thai is created to kill people asshole, you can't compare the two of them...and by the way!!! mma is not a martial art competition...is a collection of show offs dork!

What do you class as real karate if you seem to know so much?

fugitivodoinferno 3 years ago
Search for other TKD vs MUAY THAI video here in youtube and tell me what you think. there's more video out there that you still didn't see. and count with your fingers how many TKD Fighters have won against a MT FIGHTER

bjj is better than muay thai
redtiger716 3 years ago

JoostPyroPol 3 years ago
Good video, man. By the looks of it, I'd say you've practiced both Karate(dunno which sort, though :P) and Taekwon-Do(I practice that myself).
And just today, I've been looking at TKD vs Karate videos here in YouTube. This one was the best yet.(even though there was no immediate TKD vs Karate action)
Thanks dude! Really good to watch this, it really was(though it was boring at first, I managed to finish watching it)

hahaha Ther belts are below there knees.. Haha TKD poons =D

TKD and KARATE is a piece of shit it's only for lousy guys. why dont you try MMA instead the real way of fighthing.
mark6020cc 4 years ago
ah ah ah !you are not martial art practitioner, you are just muscle man.I like MMA because of his mixed technics of fighting. But MMA is not an martial art,it doesn't have any philosophies like taekwondo or other martial art.MMA can help me to be a better fighter than I am,but it can not help me to understand the life, and to have a good behaviour among people LIKE TAEKWONDO OR KARATE DID. MMA doesn't have life way
lezen357 4 years ago
Did i ever mention it's a martial arts. and let me ask you something if MMA is not a martial arts then what is it, and base on your understanding what is the word MARTIAL ARTS mean in general. i mean what is the other term for the word MARTIAL ARTS.
mark6020cc 4 years ago
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport in which a wide variety of fighting techniques are used, including both striking and grappling.
MMA is not a martial art. lezen was right - martial arts have a philosophy and a way of looking at life, trying to make their fighters better (wo)men through modifying personalities.
MMA is a combat sport, rather than a martial art. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but I hope you understand why we say it's not a martial art
TKaarel 3 years ago 3
MARTIAL ARTS = In GenerAL An ART Of Defending
Mixed Martial Arts = Mixed Arts Of Defending
now tell me if MMA is not an Art Of Defending
Taekwondo, Karate, Judo, Aikido, Kung Fu, Muay Thai this are all an Art Of Defending (Martial Arts) MMA IS A MIXTURE OFF ALL THIS ARTS, it doesnt have any Philosophy but it's still an ART OF DEFENDING ( MARTIAL ARTS )and if you dont believe me open up a dictionary and look for the other meaning of a word MARTIAL ARTS, meaning not a deffinition
mark6020cc 3 years ago
Forget your dictionary and your definition. Just LOOK the terminology of these names of martial arts ... taekwonDO, KarateDO, aikiDO, juDO, KenDo ... can you tell me why these names all ending with "Do" ?If you understand what "DO" means , then we can discuss intelligently
lezen357 3 years ago
FORGET yoUR TErminology i am not asking for it no matter what you say you cannot HIDE THE TRUTH THAT MARTIAL ARTS IS WAY OF DEFENDING. TAEKWONDO,KARATEDO,KUNGFU,JUDO,AIKIDO is PERTAINING TO THE ART OR ThE WAY OF DEFENDINg in other words it is the "DO" ( WAY OR ART )
eg: TAEKWONDO WHICH MEANS THE WAY OF DEFENDING BY KICKING AND PUNCHING and if you're still not satisfied i will use other term THE ART OF KICKING AND PUNCHING
mark6020cc 3 years ago
mark6020cc if i were u i wouldnt forget terminology coz taekwondo does not mean the way/art of defending it means way/art of hand and foot when practising a martial art it is important to learn terminology, in my itf tkd school my instructor commands us in korean, so im learning korean i dont know much yet but ive learned numbers 1-100, patterns, strikes n blocks, its important to martial arts but i will agree about mma being a way of defense coz its MIXED martial arts all used 4 self defence
chunkysupreme 3 years ago
i agree with you!that's what i was saying to mark6020cc...he makes a confusion between martial art and combat or fight sport.HE doen't know that boxe is a combat sport, and judo, taekwondo and others are matials arts.Good luck with your ITF Taekwondo(kamzamida=thank you)
lezen357 3 years ago
Well what you've said can be very easily countered with:
EVERY combat sport can be used for one's defense. EVERY martial art can be used for one's defense. That was NOT what I said you were (partially) wrong about.
TKaarel 3 years ago
