I dont think there is a need for a philosophy class or classes.Yes it has some good things if you learn with others, but whats great about it is that we create it our way without standards or requirtments so like one of the guys said here....the world is our collage or learning area
Why standardize something that is so subjective like philosophy? Yes it might help us with logical and reasoning skills but it will also teach us to doubt such skills. So why enter something so baseless like a classroom and why not just learn philosophy under the night skies. The world is my university. But thanks for posting this anyway.
i absolutely agree with you.We need to erase the mentality of old bearded men in togas everyone can be a philosopher anytime anywhere just by philosophizing aka thought. The irony in this video is that it is trying to erase the assumption or assumptions about a course which is about erasing or challenging assumptions.
I am only in Year 11(GCSE) at secondary school however I've been leisurely teaching myself philosophy for a while as I have a very deep interest within it (I shocked my English teacher by reading Plato's Republic and proving to him I understood the arguments and concepts *haha*)
It is quite likely I may study it at Uni however I've still got 6th form to go through where I'm taking:
Tis always great to read outside your subject :P I only really had the basic idea of what philosophy was when i started my A level course. Now im like a total philosophy geek and its all down to reading just outside the subject.
im studying philosophy and i absolutely love it...but i advise you to pick at least one science subject like maths or physics.....it lends you university application more weight and also it provides an avenue for you if you might want to change your mind.
damn those some big titties

philosophy can be studied only for philosophy's sake. And i dont think it can be studied in a university.
All philosophy needs is to question the fundamentals.

This is false hope. If you study philosophy you'll get a full-time job, but it'll be in fast-food or an internship at a business company.

I was just wondering why they got someone dressed as a prostitute to present the video. Not that I'm complaining.

Great video, great people, great questions and even greater answers. Not so great: the music... a bit elevator-like. On the whole: proud 2BUH 8)
