dunno Vanian looks sexy what ever he wears on his face the slug or clean shaven, clothes wise wish he would wear his frilly shirts again and grow his hair but he cant grow his hair he told me it falls out, seen them in november brilliant gig as allways
I loved em then, and I love em now. This was the first line up I saw, I was 15 Ritzy's in Cardiff. I'll be seeing them again in 10 day time for the 33rd (? I think) time.
Oh, and the Captain is irreplaceable on the guitar - Along with Ginger from The WiLDHEARTS, he is one of the best songwriters this country has ever produced.
Agreed, Scabies was and always should have been the Damned's drummer - Pinch is a far superior technician and incredible live but Scabies rules ! Paul Gray was their best Bass-Player - No contest .
I can't believe this was over twenty years ago already. I remember watching this transfixed. I love this band. And I reckon this was their best lineup. (Sorry Captain)
Craftsmen in action..Great studio footage,,Rat is a master drummer..For bands recording in studio footage enthusiast`check out dead kennedys recording in god we trust..same kinda thing..having a laugh and recording awesome music..
Vanian is having such a great time covering the doors. They should have released singles on this vein instead of trendy pop like "is it a dream", but anyaway i was like 2 years old back then so what do i know.
I suppose, by this time, they'd spent 10 years releasing classic singles & all people knew of them was they had a guitarist who looked a bit like Captain Sensible!
Fans don't tend to remember this as their best era but, at the time, it was brilliant being a Damned fan-there was a real feeling that things were happening-a real buzz about the whole thing!
This wasn't a bad lineup actually, Roman was a very good guitarist ...

@PaulDysongs Brian James was the Bet Guitarist the Damned ever had. Listen to Fish, no one can match Brian James. A very underated guitarist.

Danzig didn't cop anything from Vanian, both bands were formed within a year of eachother.

More like the other way around. Danzig copped his whole thing from Vanian.

Wow, Dave sounds a lot like Jim Morrison (while still being the one and only Dave Vanian, of course).

It's nice to see them relaxed. I think the Roman/Bryn bits are especially good!
