It is imposable to tell until they grow to about 2', unless you want to probe but thats not a great idea. Males grow to 6' have heavy jowls

and a larger dewlap. Females usually grow to 3-4' and have shorter spikes

omfg lol, today my 9 year old cuzin caught a baby iguana and he called me, i told him to put it in a big box and to put some lettuce and water dish in thier....i was guna pick it up tomorow, then, less then 20 minutes later, he calls me and sais "i put a string on the iguana and took it out for a walk, he bit my foot and jumped into the lake and swam across" i was like

first off** learn to spell, second, most of any type of tropical animal of some sort, weather its a parrot, or a reptile or an amphibian, well most of them are taken from the wild and sold.... only some select breeders out thier that breed and sell them bieng born in captivity... and iether way, i never got to keep the iguana because it escaped so yea, :D

You need to get him a UVB light or he is going to start to get really weak and stop growing. If you don't get the bulb you need to take his cage outside. for at least a hour a day. Just make sure he has some shade from the sun. Without the bulb he will end up with metabolic bone disease.

You have the heat , You need to keep the tempuratures correct in the tank . Hot area and cold area. Also you need a UVB light in there or the little chap will die very young 1 Year .. If you need help .. look at my video of my iguana
