Why are some of the gundam boxes banded? Those bands that they use to tie the boxes up. They kind of kinked the box alittle and obstructed some details on those boxes. Obviously i prefer plastic wraps, so does anybody know why some model kits boxes are banded and some are plastic wrapped?

Because the boxes are easy to open. If not banded, the contents disperse or stolen.

Also I'll add that hobbies in Japan don't carry the same "nerd" stigma as they do here in the States. It's common to find men of all ages and backgrounds checking out the gundam aisle, and I regularly saw women browsing the selection as well (good-looking ones, at that.)

In case anyone is curious, this store will NOT ship outside of Japan. Yodobashi and Bic Camera are both big electronics chain stores, similar to Best Buy in the U.S. (but on steroids!) I've been to both Bic and Yodobashi in Tokyo and both have an entire floor devoted to toys, and a huge hobby section within. The prices are unbelievable. If you want an idea of what japanese pay, check out amazon.co.jp and search for your favorite gundam model.
