For a long time, MGM owned a lot of the classic Warner Brothers films. It was only a couple of years after this montage was made that the tables turned.
So glad to know I wasn't the only one who kept looking for some other digital copy of this montage ever since I saw it on my GWTW vhs tape! Psst. I would even just watch it without watching the actual movie. I even scanned youtube off and on thru the years to find it. Thank you so much for finding a way to put this online! I loved it. Made me see just how important editing is, when you're making a film. Now, could someone tell me the name of the piece that's playing? I've heard it often...
this motage is one of the best ive EVER seen! XD im SOOOO glad i found it here on you Tube!!!!! the clips, the music- EVERYTHING!!!!!!! fabulous from start 2 finish!
To MarisaRocksOut: My mother used to ask me to watch Gone With the Wind with her...and I always enjoyed spending that time with her & Watching This Montage!!! Don't know where the VHS went and whenever i'd break down and rent GWTWind this would never be on it. My God is right.
My God I have been looking for this for years! My Grandmother and I watched Gone With The Wind together all the time and I loved this montage! When she died the cassette tapes got thrown out and I've never been able to find it! Thank you so much!
You're welcome! I too went crazy trying to find this montage on the internet a couple of years ago. When I got a DVD recorder, one of the first things I did was post this montage!
I'm glad you enjoyed this little piece of nostalgia.
Wow. My story is so like yours. When I was a very little girl, my family brought home Gone With the Wind on VHS. I was brought up on classic movies, and to me, this montage was the most special thing about our copy of the film. The powerful music combined scenes from my family's favorite movies made it magical. I'd never seen anything like it. I've been looking for it for so long. So glad I found it.
That would be "The Defiant Ones," a great movie about two escapees from a chain gang, one black and the other white. Both are played wonderfully by Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis.

I don't understand why it's an MGM montage but there are Warner Brother movie clips in this like Casablanca, White Heat, Yanke Doodle Dandy?
Still a great montage!

@BornYesterday0126 I agree. It is rather misleading. There are so many great MGM films - other than Goldfinger - which is United Artists!

the one in b&w where he's reaching out for his hand, it sort of looks like an escape movie.
